Google TV - is manual content matching a hassle? Enough to go with ATV instead?

    Hello,

I'm considering buying the new Google TV, but I have questions. We're currently using the apps in our Samsung tv to stream, but the apps are starting to slow and not alway work.

I'm in Europe, and we're streaming both US, European and international movies and shows.

I was looking at the Apple TV 4K, but apparently 24p material stutters. If I'm aware of it, stuttering is annoying to me when I'm watching something. Not sure if my better half will notice any stutter, but I'd say it's likely.

How is the Google TV with 24p material? Is there any way to know which setting to choose when watching a movie or show - or is it just "let's see if the picture is weird and then change"? Any video material that Google struggles with instead of 24p?

Google TV isn't yet available in my country, so will have to import it. It's going to be about 100-115 USD compared to the Apple TV 4K at about 225 USD.

I know the Nvidia Shield exists, but it's priced about the same as the ATV, and if I have to spend that much money, probably might go with Apple TV.

    Thanks,

    [CCGTV] Screen zoom/overscan?

OK, so I cannot find the overscan/screen zoom settings on my Chromecast with Google TV stick (they REALLY need a shorter name).

Is it not an option anymore? Or am I just missing it?

Android TV version of YouTube wants my credit card or ID to watch age restricted content, despite the fact my Google Account is age verified

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 08:06 PM PST

Subject says it all, pretty much.

Android TV version of YouTube won't allow me to watch age restricted content. Wants me to 'verify' my age by supplying my credit card or ID. Meanwhile, using the exact same Google account - which has my birthday details, I am an adult - I can watch the same content using YouTube on any other device that isn't a Android TV version of YouTube.

I've read that, for some people , switching from a 'brand' account to their default Google account can fix the problem, sometimes. I can't even attempt such a solution because this is my default Google account. I don't have a brand account.

Annoying as fuck and I'm hoping someone figured this issue out, I'm not about to give Google my credit card details or my photo ID just to watch a documentary about fentanyl.

[Google TV] Content preferences disappeared from the Account & Sign-in settings page. Is it missing for anyone else?
