Xiaomi Mi A3 (Android One) screenshot

Edit: looks like the accessibility menu shortcut with some dots on top. But the menu is disabled and if I enable it it replaces this one. It also only shows with the keyboard. Glitch?

Edit 2: nevermind, looking around for this specific phone/update it seems like it has tons of other bugs I have yet to discover. Was even blissfully unaware of the previous update attempt.

Guess I can mark this as solved. Was very intrigued and now I'm just disappointed.

Why does my phone still say that I have 40 GB of pictures even though I deleted them all?

Is 1440p resolution on Samsung phones TRUE 1440p?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 09:48 AM PST

So I was talking about how I used adb to increase my resolution to a pixel below WQHD+ on my s20 Ultra while maintaining 120Hz refresh rate and this is what someone said in response:

    ----------------v

It's not true 1440p 120hz. It just tells the apps it's using a resolution lower than 1440p, but the screen isn't actually running at 1440p. Especially if you realize that the S20 screen doesn't actually have enough hardware pixels in the screen for 1440p because it's a simulated pentile 1440p. Stuff look better because of the images put out are 1440p. It's like how looking at 1440p images on a 1080p screen looks better than 1080p images, but you aren't really seeing in 1440p.

1440p on Samsung screens is a lie. It's actually a 1080p screen in terms if number of RGB pixels, except that the G pixels are cut into 2 smaller pieces. Then they use differential light intensity on the green pixels to create smoother antialiasing making it look as sharp as a 1440p screen.

This is actually the reason why it's shipped at 1080p, because it burns in faster at 1440p since the light intensities are uneven.

    ----------------^

So I used an app screeninfo it does say my screen dimensions are 1439 x 2932 which is what I set as well as 120Hz refresh rate but then in the Samsung settings it does say I'm using HD+.

So what's true, is Samsungs 1440p really not true 1440p and therefore maybe the system just thinks its displaying a higher resolution when it in fact isn't. Anyone know if it is or isn't then, it's really hard to tell just by looking at the screen.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 09:57 AM PST

I have samsung m21 not rooted. I tried to remove and disable Samsung Game Optimizing Service via ADB, it saying success when i entered the remove command, but in phone it doesn't removed. Also i try disabling via ADB too, it also giving another success message but app not disabled in phone. I tried to remove an random app downloaded from gplay store, and it removed perfectly (btw i removed some system apps in same phone via adb before). I searched this issue and i saw some people have same problem. I tried to disable that app from Package disabler pro (samsung) and CCSWE app manager (samsung) but M21 doesn't have Knox, so that method didn't worked too. Game Optimizing Service app is limiting your fps to 40. I dont want to root my phone. I want to remove, disable this app without root. How can i do that? Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Google Photos Device Folder to Album

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 09:20 AM PST

Hi all, do any of you know if it is possible for a Device Folder, such as Downloads or Messages, to be converted into an album easily? I have a coworker that downloads several photos from various texts that needs to see them all in one place, however when he uses Backup & Sync for these folders, they do not appear on the desktop Google photos. We've confirmed the photos transfer correctly, just not their grouping in the "Downloads" or "Messages" Folder. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Amazon shopping app used 5 GB of data less than a day

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 05:11 PM PST

Pretty much what the title says. I woke up with 25% data remaining and 3 days left. A few hours later got a notification all of my data was used. Looked at usage and amazon shopping had used over 5 GB -- today. I've never even opened it today. Any ideas what could have happened, and if there's anything to do about this?

Attaching ANY removable storage device to your Android makes it 'read only'...permanently

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 11:32 AM PST

I f**ked up three microSD cards by attaching them to my device using an adapter. I have an older handheld game console that uses microSD so I got a new card to use with it. I used my Samsung Note 10 Plus to put files onto it and it became read-only after that. Support says that the card is dying and the 'read only' is a file protect sort of thing.

Well, okay. So I tried another, larger, older card I have. Guess what? Did the same thing! Then I tried a brand new one and, you guessed it, screwed it up too.

What a stupid, STUPID system feature. Seems the only small hope I have is to root my device and try to fix this.

Any other solutions? No Windows CMD fixes will work.

[Android 11/Samsung S10e] App opening animation cannot be disabled separately

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 10:16 AM PST

Upgraded to Android 11 recently and I was trying to turn off the app opening animation by turning off the window & transition animation to 0.x. But that didn't do anything. I can only turn off the app opening animation by turning off the animation completely by changing the animator duration scale to 0 which turns off all animations completely.

I vaguely recalled that transition animation scale controls "app" window opening/closing but turning that off by itself does not turn off the app opening animation at all.

Is this a bug of Android 11 or maybe Samsung specific?

Trying to transfer a video from PC to Samsung galaxy but file is apparently unsupported

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 05:44 AM PST

    Hey everyone,

As the title states, I've been trying to transfer a video from my PC to my Samsung Galaxy A series smartphone, but each time i try to open on my phone it says that the file is unsupported. I've tried converting the file to MP4 and Android 720p but still no luck. The original file format is an AVI file which is apparently supported when you google 'supported files' but none of them have worked.

    Can anyone suggest a workaround?

Got an oppo find X2 Pro, only just learned they update for 2 years.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 08:04 AM PST

    Hi,

So I recently upgraded from an Huawei p30 Pro to the oppo find X2 Pro. I am loving the phone.

However, I have just learned that oppo only provide updates for their phones for 2 years from the release date.

My question is how will this affect the phone when it's not the latest version of Android, will I still be able to use it? Will apps still work?

I have a 3 year contract, so will have the phone until 2024. They will stop updates in march 2022.

    Should I return the phone?

    Thanks in advance

    Issues with storage

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 07:59 AM PST

    Hoping someone can help...

I have a Sumsung Tab A 10.1 which doesn't have a huge amount of storage I've popped an SD card in. However, every time the Play Store updates apps they get moved back onto internal storage meaning I run out of space. After going through the rigmarole of moving a supposed 6GB of apps (according to the inbuilt export tool) it only seems to free up around 1GB on the internal storage...

Has anyone else experienced this or know where I may be going wrong?

    Thanks

[EDIT] - I have just run through this again and moved 1.79GB from Internal to External Storage, but my free space on internal has only gone from 1.56GB to 1.69GB

Phone randomly goes into lockmode when using (only) using Snapchat

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 07:58 AM PST

This could be wrong with the phone I have, Xiaomi Pocophone. (MIUI Global 12.0.3, Android 10.)

Since it only happens with Snapchat, I used the flair I used... AND after a big update Xiaomi had a few months..? back, or maybe 1 month. Idk I don't remember unfortunately. We are now able to have low quality live backgrounds, wohoo.

So I be doing normal stuff and it goes into lockmode. Sometimes in a row. It's REALLY annoying. And it's happening more frequently now... That's why I'm typing this post now and not when it began.

Why is this happening? Who's fault is it (phone or app)? What can I do? Why is it only happening with ONE app? Like I'm a mobile gamer, I have lots of games that I play, it's not happening anything to them.

How do I safely eject a usb drive?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 07:11 AM PST

I'm on android version 11, latest update on s10+

Whenever I plug in a USB stick with the adapter that came with the phone I can use it, but when I take it out it says I didn't remove it safely

I can't seem to find a way to eject it thought. Googling just told me to click on eject in my storage settings, but since that was an older answer I can't find the option in my settings

How do I safely eject the USB drive without danger of corrupting it?

My Lenovo Tablet Is Stuck On The Booting Screen

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 06:08 AM PST

My tablet refuses to turn on :(

Today morning I was using it fine, and I turned it off before lunch. Today afternoon when I'm trying to turn it on, its stuck at the Lenovo Logo...
When I had turned it off it was a roughly 60-70% battery.
When I charge it, it displays the charging icon as normal.
It hasn't been dropped, no water damage either.

When I try to power it on, it looks like this image: https://ibb.co/YQfqhmW but instead of the qualcomm snapdragon logo it has a 'powered by android' logo.
    Device details:
    Model: Lenovo TB-X304L (aka Lenovo TAB4 10)
Age: 2.5 years since manufacture, 2 years of regular usage (out of warranty)
    Battery Capacity: 10000mAh
Any help would be highly appreciated :D
Please let me know if any more information is required!

    Sincerely

Opening an app does not clear its notification

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 05:58 AM PST

I upgraded my Galaxy Note 10 to Android 11 / UI 3.0 and after the upgrade Twitter notifications do not clear the notification area after I've opened the app and seen the notification.

Before the upgrade, if I received a notification from Twitter I would open the Twitter app and go to notifications. The notification area would automatically clear the Twitter notification when I did this. I've re-installed Twitter but it didn't fix the issue. Also I am experiencing the same thing with Whatsapp.

Anyone else experiencing the same? Any way to fix it?

    sd card on phone problem

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 03:18 AM PST

hi! so i formatted my sd card on my redmi note 8 on the 18th (this month) and i have asked other people but i still couldn't find a solution for my problem:

    • can't recover my photos, which I don't mind i have them backed up on my cloud and google photos.

    • although i can't take new photos or save new photos, they don't show up in my gallery unless they're from specific apps like reddit and instagram(i barely save photos from the two), but I can't save photos from anywhere else like facebook, messenger, and twitter(i get most of my photos from there). I can't capture photos from my camera app either, they don't show up in my gallery.

    • whenever i screenshot it says I can't save it or something

    • used card reader to try recover apps on the computer like recuva and a few more but still can't get files/data back, nothing shows up.

    • my widgets are gone!!!

    • can't use some apps properly without sd card

    • can't install other apps

    • my phone's storage was 32gb and with the sd card it's now 64gb, but I can't install apps that are 30MB+, why? i figured i should have restarted my phone after formatting but i have restarted my phone only days after(with and without sd card) and nothing changed

should i get a new sd card or a new phone?????????

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 02:55 AM PST

My sister was doing her online school on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite which had between 70 and 80% remaining state of charge when it shut off completely. Upon plugging it in she saw 0% on it when she tried to turn it on. There were 2 apps running in the background. How to prevent this from happening in the future? Any help appreciated
