What were your favourites and innovations of 2020? And what features and innovations do you want in 2021?

For me it was several things. I like that 120Hz screens became pretty much mainstream for flagships and even midrange phones.

I really like Sony's execution with Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 II. Sony's battery management and battery care software is very impressive. I don't think any other phone has the power pass through function, where you can have the phone connected to a power source for long periods of time without using battery power and thus degrading it at all. Great feature I wish every phone had.

Huawei was very impressive delivering 10X periscope zoom. Very innovative.

But the main one for me were camera sensors.

There was finally a shift towards larger sensors (except that one company) and we got four really big sensors. I think Huawei is the one to thank for this as they started this whole big sensor move.

    • Sony IMX700, 50MP, 1/1.28"
    • OmniVision OV48C, 48MP, 1/1.32"
    • Samsung ISOCELL GN1, 50MP, 1/1.33"
    • Samsung HM3, 108MP, 1/1.33"

Sony and Samsung are well known, but OmniVision is lesser known, considered to be more budget targeted sensor, but their sensors are very, very good! And OV48C is impressive! I think I prefer OmniVision sensors to both Samsung and Sony.

For 2021, I would like them to continue making sensors larger. I wonder if they can reach 1/1.2" size, finally matching Nokia 808 PureView's sensor size.

Other than that though, I don't really know what I would want. Maybe underscreen cameras would be nice? But it's definitely not something that make me pick one phone over the other.

One "feature" I really want though is for them to go back to flat screens.

Thank you for the award, /u/yatlvcar!

How to disable immersive mode on an android apk ( Show navigation buttons always)

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 12:04 PM PST

I have an android 4.4 tablet which has no physical buttons. Im using an app that hides my navigations buttons and i dont want that. So here is how i solved my problem

    1- Decompile the apk

Download apktool.jar and apktool.bat from here and put it in the same folder with your apk. Then use this command "apktool d -f -r sample.apk"

    2- Find the code

Using notepad++ find this line of code "setSystemUiVisibility())" and delete that line and save it. Here is how to search

3- Re-compile the code with this command "apktool b sample" your apk file is created under "\space\dist" folder.

    4- Sign the apk

Follow the instructions listed here (you need jre and jdk)

5- Install you apk to you android device
