Posted: 10 Dec 2020 04:11 PM PST For me it was several things. I like that 120Hz screens became pretty much mainstream for flagships and even midrange phones. I really like Sony's execution with Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 II. Sony's battery management and battery care software is very impressive. I don't think any other phone has the power pass through function, where you can have the phone connected to a power source for long periods of time without using battery power and thus degrading it at all. Great feature I wish every phone had. Huawei was very impressive delivering 10X periscope zoom. Very innovative. But the main one for me were camera sensors. There was finally a shift towards larger sensors (except that one company) and we got four really big sensors. I think Huawei is the one to thank for this as they started this whole big sensor move.
Sony and Samsung are well known, but OmniVision is lesser known, considered to be more budget targeted sensor, but their sensors are very, very good! And OV48C is impressive! I think I prefer OmniVision sensors to both Samsung and Sony. For 2021, I would like them to continue making sensors larger. I wonder if they can reach 1/1.2" size, finally matching Nokia 808 PureView's sensor size. Other than that though, I don't really know what I would want. Maybe underscreen cameras would be nice? But it's definitely not something that make me pick one phone over the other. One "feature" I really want though is for them to go back to flat screens. Thank you for the award, /u/yatlvcar!
