Google TV w/ Chromecast Ambient Mode Posted: 05 Dec 2020 08:01 AM PST Hey guys. Does anyone know where to find and change the time that it takes for ambient mode to turn on on Google TV? It turns on automatically after like 5 minutes and I would like to make it longer but I can't find the setting anywhere. I was able to change it on my old Mi Box but not on here. Thanks. How do i access the "uSB detected screen" without plugging in a uSB? Posted: 05 Dec 2020 07:49 AM PST I am trying my darnest to have my TV play files from my PC plugged in on the same router. When I plug in a USB drive to the TV, there is a notification of if I want to look at the USB. If I hit "yes", it brings me to a screen with an icon of the USB drive, an icon of network sharing that doesn't do anything, and if I wait one more second my PC shows up. I can access my PC's shared files from here. My question is how can I access this menu without plugging in a USB drive? [link] [comments]
TCL 50C715 LED indicator problem Posted: 05 Dec 2020 10:17 AM PST Hey guys, The LED indicator on my TCL 50C715 Android TV (with Google Assistant) seems to turn on and off at random. It's supposed to be on only when the TV is listening for instructions, but that should never be the case, since I turned off the mic physically at the back of the TV and I don't have the Google Assistant enabled remote, which doesn't come with the TV in my country. I have it turned off in the settings even when it is listening, so I don't see a reason for it to ever be on... Most of the time, all 4 LED dots will be on, but then they disappear at random moments, what I do with the TV is seemingly irrelevant. Sometimes, only one of the dots will be on, and I'm not even sure what that means. I downloaded the full user manual from the TCL website, but there is no mention of the LED indicator at all. Has anyone faced this issue before? It's not terribly annoying, but I'd like to know what the TV is actually doing, is it trying to listen or not and if not, why the lights are on. Thanks in advance! P.S. to be clear, I'm not talking about the power LED indicator, that one is only on when the TV is turned off and works fine. [link] [comments]
When is the Google TV web app going to become available? Any news? Posted: 05 Dec 2020 12:06 AM PST (The Google TV sub told me to come here.) Just curious when the old Google Play Movies & TV web experience will be replaced with the new Google TV web app, or at least when browsing Google TV content will be made available on the web. I watch a lot of my content on desktop and would appreciate an update to mirror the mobile experience. I love the direction Google is taking with Google TV and I am excited to see the platform grow. I see that tv.google is currently just an introductory landing page. Once it's ready, I hope to see the use of PWA tech to allow offline content on web/desktop as well. This is the main reason for me asking around really. [link] [comments]

Apps not playing after sideloading on Sony Android TV Posted: 04 Dec 2020 08:37 PM PST Hello, I recently bought a Sony Android TV. It works fine with all the regular google play/google store apps. I tried to upload a few games by downloading APK on google drive and then installing them with X-Plore. They do show up under apps but when I try to open them, they get stuck. I cant seem to go beyond the main page of these apps. Am I doing something wrong or is the APK file corrupt? Any good sites to download APK files? Still trying to figure out the sideloading process so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments]
How can I set the resolution on my Android TV? Posted: 05 Dec 2020 12:57 AM PST The settings menu doesn't have any options for setting resolution. My TV is 4K so Android is outputting at 4K, but I prefer for it to run at 1080P instead. My TV only supports 30hz at 4K so I'd rather do 1080p at 60hz. Is there an app in the store that can force a lower resolution or any other solution? The box in question is the Dynalink Android TV from Walmart. [link] [comments]
Frustrated with the current state of cloud gaming... Posted: 04 Dec 2020 03:25 PM PST It's just absysmal right now. GeForce Now - great for shield TV but the big publishers are unwilling to commit to it XBOX GamePass Ultimate - unsupported on android TV but your YMMV with sideloading and even if you get it to work, 720P only Stadia - again, unsupported on android TV + general consumer distrust that google won't commit to it. PsNow - need a PC to stream it to androidTV. The PC interface is rage inducing and there's a ton of shovelware to sift through ... That leaves local streaming as the local options: Xbox Series S/X. No streaming to other devices PS4/5 remoteplay: sideloading needed YMMV GeForce experience: it works but not everything works smoothly from the couch (computer could be locked, games that lack controller support, etc). I ended going with this option with reluctance. I think it's safe to say that cloud gaming won't be taken seriously this generation by the big players I have two shields that are perfectly capable of streaming games. Just offer something and take my money dammit :) EDIT 1 - seems I should give stadia a shot (I still don't trust googles commitment level given their track record) EDIT 2 - PC streaming clearly is the winner (I would agree, as I use GFE local streaming) EDIT 3 - when is Sony and Microsoft going to get their act together and take TV-based cloud gaming seriously? MiBox S with Ethernet Cable (LAN). Does the chromecast still work through my phone? Posted: 04 Dec 2020 09:30 PM PST I know there are some question about this but I don't find the right answer that chromecast will work if I use ethernet connection. Because I want to make sure before I buy the ethernet adapter, I need that because my 100 mbps speed became 30 mbps in mibox s wireless connection [link] [comments]
GoogleTV - can I remove youTube recommendations only? Posted: 05 Dec 2020 12:23 AM PST I think I can't but just confirming. I signed out of YouTube which should mean that whatever our guests watch (kids usually) won't mess up my own recommendations, but it's still recommending stuff on the main screen based on my Google account history. Nothing terrible but not really stuff for kids and it gets in the way. So there's no way to clean this up without going full apps only mode? Side note, I'm otherwise really enjoying the new Chromecast, but that might be because I was so used to swearing at my old Samsung TV's UI :) [link] [comments]
Is it possible to enable "Apps-Only mode" on side-loaded Google TV launcher? Posted: 04 Dec 2020 11:48 PM PST Hi, Sideloaded Google TV launcher on my Android TV and see the new interface but some settings appear to not work. For example, "Get Better Recommendations" and clicking on my "Account Settings" where the "Apps-only mode" option lives kicks me back to home screen. Any thoughts? [link] [comments]

2 Part Question - New Chromecast With GOOGLE TV Posted: 04 Dec 2020 09:41 AM PST Question 1: Regarding custom launchers, I'm aware of Wolf, are there any others I should know about? Question 2. I use Kodi alot, is there any way to make Kodi my launcher? I can interlink to other apps from the Kodi menu but would like to return to Kodi when I press the home button. Thank you! Dynalink Issues with Sound and App Sideload Posted: 04 Dec 2020 11:48 AM PST I bought 2 of these....I also have a Shield...my two issues are I can't installed Filelinked either via Downloader or Browser, and there doesn't seem to be audio passthrough. I prefer fixed audio to my TV/Soundbar and the Dynalink only seems to have device audio. I can set this in my Shield and FS devices, either I am missing it, or it cannot do it. [link] [comments]

Adding aditional storage to Mi TV Stick Posted: 04 Dec 2020 06:08 PM PST Hello everyone, I just bought the MI TV Stick and its working really good for me. However, one thing that has been a letdown is the internal storage of the device. Only 5gb is available out of the total 8gb. So i wanted to ask if there is anyway to increase the storage via external ssd/hdd/flash drive/ micro sd card or etc? If there is, please tell me. TIA [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 10:46 AM PST Hi, I'm looking to buy my first tv with Android. So I'm interested in the "sharp 65bl5ea". When I looked up the specs and compared it to some other android TVs i noticed that this Sharp only has 1.5gb ram, it seems to be the least ram you can find on an android tv. Now I wonder if that is even enough to ensure fast operation of the tv? [link] [comments]
