Note 1. Join our IRC, and Telegram chat-rooms! Please see our wiki for instructions.

This weekly Sunday thread is for you to let off some steam and speak out about whatever complaint you might have about:

    • Your device.

    • Your carrier.

    • Your device's manufacturer.

    • An app

    • Any other company

    Rules

    1) Please do not target any individuals or try to name/shame any individual. If you hate Google/Samsung/HTC etc. for one thing that is fine, but do not be rude to an individual app developer.

    2) If you have a suggestion to solve another user's issue, please leave a comment but be sure it's constructive! We do not want any flame-wars.

    3) Be respectful of other's opinions. Even if you feel that somebody is "wrong" you don't have to go out of your way to prove them wrong. Disagree politely, and move on.

Digital Wellbeing needs to support setting daily limit timers for a group of apps

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 04:25 AM PST

I think it's high time that Digital Wellbeing provides the option to group apps together and then assign a timer for the group as a whole.

For example, if a user wants to ensure that they don't spend more than 1 hour a day on social media apps, then they can create a group containing their social media apps and then set the group timer to 1 hour. That way, they can spend however long they want on each app, as long as the total time across all of those apps does not exceed 1 hour.

Currently, we can only set timers for individual apps. Therefore, if a user wants to restrict their time on social media to 1 hour and they use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat; then they need to set the individual app timers in such a way that they add up to 1 hour. One easy option is to allot 15 mins to each app. But, on one day, if the user might have to use one app for more than 15 mins, it will not be possible.

As far as I am aware, iOS supports this and so does third party Android apps. It would be nice if Digital Wellbeing also supports this.
