Strange App randomly installed Posted: 23 Dec 2020 03:01 AM PST Hi everyone, So I was just casually browsing my father's phone (Android Galaxy) and I find a strange app named "Kingdoms" with Mickey Mouse and Minnie on it. I look for the app on the play store and there actually is one but has a longer name, different picture and It doesn't result as installed. I opened the thing and it had the usual opening for gameloft games, tho I closed it as it asked for position. In the phone's settings I discover that the app is almost 23 mb and installed through an app store and not from unknown sources. When my dad confirmed he didn't install the app I eliminated it and am currently doing a scan on malwarebytes. Any idea on what this could be? Also sorry for my english, I'm Italian [link] [comments] |
A simple text editor for Android? Posted: 23 Dec 2020 09:54 AM PST Today I was looking for a simple text editor without permissions except load+save. I did not find one: https://www.gibney.de/a_simple_text_editor_for_android Any tips? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Dec 2020 12:10 PM PST Just wondering if anyone knows how to disable this feature. I play music via USB C in my car on my S20 FE where I have the volume set to max and then control it via the car's control so I can keep it at expected levels compared to the radio (I forgot a couple times switching back and forth and scared the kids in the back). I've tried both having the volume limit on and off, nothing seems to change. [link] [comments] |
Amazon photos vs Google Photos Posted: 23 Dec 2020 12:06 PM PST How is the search function compared between these two? I've been considering using Amazon photos since Google will be charging for new uploads soon, but the search in Google is amazing. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Dec 2020 11:55 AM PST So after i swapped the screen on my Huawei Mate 20 lite, It won't let me go to the lock screen to unlock the phone. After i plugged it in, it only showed this: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/732123481134727178/791392289544732702/WIN_20201223_20_43_17_Pro.jpg . If i tap the screen, my usuall lock screen flashes for a second or two, but then it goes back to this. What is going on and how do i fix it? [link] [comments] |
Google Play Services takes up way too much space. Posted: 22 Dec 2020 07:20 PM PST I recently did a factory reset of my phone. Before the reset, Google Play Services took up around 150m, but after the reset, the amount of storage it takes up started growing (somehow?) and after two days is at 350m. Will it keep increasing and how do I make it stop? I have tried clearing user data, but it keeps regrowing. It's a little better, at 290m, but I'm sure it'll grow back and beyond soon. Question about selling phone still under payment Posted: 23 Dec 2020 10:15 AM PST I'm wanting to sell my Note 10+ and I usually sell through eBay but I've only recently read up on selling while still financing. My phone payment is already mixed in with my bill, so it's not like I'd quit paying on it and it would be paid off at the right time. I don't want to be unethical about it, so is it okay to sell if I'm still locked in to make the payments (which I never miss)? If this is the wrong place to ask or if there's a better place let me know please. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
[samsung galaxy s9] Alarm not playing on bluetooth speaker Posted: 23 Dec 2020 10:09 AM PST I purchased a Fityou 10W Portable Bluetooth speaker to upgrade from my crappy MINISO $20 portable speaker. The MINISO speaker was helpful in that it blasted my alarm in the morning to ensure I wake up. The new speaker I got does not play the alarm so I've slept in a few times because of it (phone by itself is loud, I'm just a heavy sleeper). I've tried Sound Assistant app to allow alarm through headphones but that just removes the alarm sound altogether. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it's a phone issue or an issue with the bluetooth speaker. [link] [comments] |

Is there any use in this day and age for a Vizio VTab1008? Posted: 23 Dec 2020 09:08 AM PST Inherited a 9yo vizio vtab1008 running honeycomb. Reset to factory settings and it won't even hardly run its outdated android market. It does have an IR blaster so that's cool. I'm a complete novice when it comes to doing anything creative with android. What should I do with this thing? I have a handful of microsd cards that I could use to expand the memory. Posted: 23 Dec 2020 08:10 AM PST For the past 4-5 days I'm having a screen flickering issue when it's in a sleep mode. I'm not having any issues when I'm using the device but when it's going in sleep mode it starts flickering. Green flashing from up to down. And after sometime it stops like nothing happened........ How to register Next Track/Previous Track bluetooth commands as volume up/volume down? Posted: 23 Dec 2020 08:00 AM PST I recently got a TWS with touch controls on the buds, except that they can't be used to change the volume. They can only change tracks and play/pause. I often don't have my phone handy when using them, so I was wondering if there was any app/utility on Android to essentially make my phone increase/decrease the volume when my earbuds tell it to change tracks. New pop up when trying to setup IoT devices which fails EVERY SINGLE TIME Posted: 23 Dec 2020 07:04 AM PST New popup on LG V60 that wasn't there a week ago This popup wasn't there a week ago when I set up a new TPLink extender. Now it shows up for the extender, Ring, Google Mini, router. And the connection fails EVERY SINGLE TIME. Not like fails sometimes, it's every single time and another popup happens that says application closed the connection. What is this popup? Is it a LG thing or Android thing? [link] [comments] |
Google Now (What song is playing) - Can't add song to playlist anymore Posted: 23 Dec 2020 06:12 AM PST I have a Motorola G Fast on the latest software, and one feature I loved when I got the phone is when I asked google now "What song is playing" it would show the song and there was an option right there for me to save the song to a playlist in YouTube Music. I have a premium YT music subscription so that was super convenient. For some reason it doesn't give that option anymore and I don't know why or how to enable it again. Now it just shows the song playing but no option to add it to a playlist. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Dec 2020 06:12 AM PST I have a Galaxy S8. A few days ago, I started noticing that a handful of apps on my phone have stopped working correctly. They all have different issues, but all of the issues arose at the same time. So far, I've noticed:
I don't think any of these apps had an update or anything since this has started happening. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all of these apps, and I've tried restarting my phone. No luck. At this point, I'm beginning to get worried that some sort of hardware component in my phone might be failing (perhaps something related to network connections?). The last option that I'm aware of is a factory reset, which I kind of only want to try as a last resort. Has anyone heard of anything like this, or have any advice? [link] [comments] |

any way to fix touch screen from sanitizer damage, just long enough to enable USB debugging Posted: 23 Dec 2020 05:01 AM PST hello everyone, yesterday i made a post about my predicament. I am not able to use my phone's touch screen so i cant enable USB debugging and ilive in a pretty impoverished place so i cant get repair delivery or even an otg cable. But today i realized that my touch screen is slightly responsive ( it wont regester the number pad from my lock screen but its able to recognize the power off/restart of the screen). With that, is there any way i can get a temporary fix on the screen damage from the sanitizer just long enough for me to change my USB debugging settings? Sidenote: big thanks to u/playerhaswon u/cornerpeek u/extremevoid u/TheRufmeisterGeneral u/Lawsonator85 u/knighttim u/AD2403 for taking your time to help me out [link] [comments] |
Pin Protected Power-off Button App for Android? Posted: 23 Dec 2020 04:54 AM PST I am looking for an Android App that puts a pin, pattern or fingerprint lock on my phone's power button. In particular when being powered off. My brand new phone was stolen a few days ago and was immediately powered off so that I couldn't track it through Google or Avast. If there was a way that the thieves weren't able to do this, I could have immediate provided the police the phone's location and would have probably got my phone back. There is an app called lockIO that does exactly this. I know because I just installed and tested it on my old Samsung S5. The problem is, it doesn't work on Android 9 and above. The premium version even sounds an alarm and emails a photo of the person trying to switch off the phone if they get the pin wrong 3 times. Can anyone please suggest another app that does this for when I get a new phone. [link] [comments] |

Location of blocked numbers database Posted: 23 Dec 2020 04:39 AM PST Hello, I have a rooted Android phone without Google account and I want to migrate some user settings to another phone. Where do I find the storage file / database for the list of blocked numbers of the dialer app? Thanks in advance for any help :) [link] [comments] |
a refresh icon appears in a lot of apps. Posted: 23 Dec 2020 04:30 AM PST Hi, I have a Pocophone F1 running stock with latest MIUI version. I have not done a factory reset since I bought it a year ago. I see the refresh icon in a lot of apps, Discord, Tinder, Pinterest, Reddit, and a lot more. What is the cause of this? It delays the apps a lot. Is my cache partition full? The stock recovery installed has no option to clear it. Just a factory reset can be done. I have tried googling this issue but I ended up getting results related to app development.. Here is one from Discord when it's loading a pic, but it happens in a lot of apps recently.. Posted: 23 Dec 2020 02:37 AM PST I would like to know if there is a setting or app that allows me to turn off the notification sound off, but if the notification has not gone away X minutes later, then play the sound. For example: I get a text message at 11.00 where I am in the middle of doing something. If I reply (or swipe away the notification) before 11.30, no notification sound should be played. If I do not, then the notification sound should be played at 11.30. My phone: Huawei P Smart 2019. Why do I want this? I do not like having notification sound on all of the time, since it is a distraction and since it is annoying to hear the sound every other minute when you have a text message conversation going; if I'm in a conversation, I could check my phone every other minute. But I do want to miss notifications for too long a time, so I cannot have it on silent as I would then have to manually check my phone too often (I do that sometimes, but not when I study for instance). Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Can only boot when plugged into the wall Posted: 23 Dec 2020 02:27 AM PST Hey all, I ordered a Motorola Z2 Play (xt1710-01). When i got it, it didn't turn on right away, so i plugged it into the wall and it sprung to life. However it only showed the charge icon for a second (with no charge percentage), before crashing and looping this endlessly. It seems like perhaps the laptops aren't putting out enough power, which doesn't make sense because they charge the phone at turbopower speed normally. How do i get into the ADB commands without being plugged into the wall? [link] [comments] |
