When i go to developer options->simulate color space->monochromacy the screen turns black and white, but as soon as i lock and unlock my screen it turns back to colors. It still says monochromacy in the simulate color space options eventhough its in color. I have android 8.0.0.

Possible to get assistant voice sounding good without data?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:53 AM PST

I don't use data to use AA (I have offline Spotify and offline Maps) for the most part.

As a result (I think) the assistant voice sounds like a robot.

Anyway to "download" the good assistant voices? What is strange is that via bluetooth the offline maps voice sounds great.Possible to get assistant voice sounding good without data?

    Any way to debug this?

Fake camera input on Android Phone -Pixel 5

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 01:52 AM PST

Is it possible to make my phone recognize my screen or a video as the front or back camera input? Especially in apps that use the cam directly? Means, I can use an app (TikTok here as a Duet phone) and "fake" a new recording from the camera with an already existing video on my phone.

I tried with emulator, but can't get the size right and it's super laggy

    Android 11 media controls question

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 11:52 AM PST

    Hello,

I have a question about the new Android 11 media controls. I have a S20 and recently updated, is there a way to get the notification icons in the status bar for what is currently open and playing music or media? I like the media controls, but dislike how they have removed the icons so I cannot see at a glance what app is open or playing. Thank you for your assistance.

How can I check my Samsung S8 for anything malicious?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:43 AM PST

I have Malwarebytes mobile on my phone, but is that enough? Whenever I accidentally click an ad on youtube or something, I check the running background services, installed apps, and device admin apps. I made it so that no apps can install unknown applications. Is there any other ways to check for anything malicious? If so, how can I check?

Are there any side effects from switching the default browser in Android to Edge from Chrome?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:12 AM PST

Had some issue with HD video last night in my PC, saying the site did not support Chrome for HD playback, so I tried the new Edge and was pleasantly surprised and want to switch my phone over too.

Note 20 ultra vs iphone max pro

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 09:43 AM PST

I'm currently looking at new phones and can't decide between the Note 20 ultra and the iPhone 12 max. I've been told since I live in the states if I get the note 20 I'll have to deal with Exynos instead of the superior snapdragon. I honestly don't know how much that effects the phones overall performance because I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to phones. Another thing to consider is I want to be a content creator and idk which phone is best for that. The only thing I'm against with iPhone is their lack of multitasking and customization

How to get Color using Shared Preferences

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 08:59 AM PST

    Hello.

I have an app as a homework, most of it is done, but I don't know how to send a color using Shared Preferences.

I saw something about Color constructor using an int but I don't know how to use it, or at least what are the values in int of what colors I need.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you in advance!

"Can't reach Google at the moment", Pixel 3

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 07:59 AM PST

    Hi

I've been unable to use Google assistant in the past few days due to the error "Can't reach Google at the moment" appearing as soon as I say Ok Google. I've restarted my phone, cleared cache in apps and uninstalled and reinstalled the Google and Google Assistant apps.

Anything else I might try to resolve this? It's also affecting Google nest, which responds with a variety of "oops / didn't work / can't do this" messages

My LG G7 won't turn on, please help

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 05:34 PM PST

My LG G7 (T-mobile version) randomly powered off twice and now it won't turn on. The first time it happened was earlier this week and it was off for about a day and a half, and the second time happened around two days ago and it still won't turn on. I tried everything I could think of to get it to work again including: Holding the power button and volume down button and waiting for 8 seconds at the minimum, taking the back out and trying to adjust the battery, holding the power button by itself for at least eight seconds, and leaving it in the freezer for 30 seconds didn't work either. Is there anything else that I can do to fix my device?

Recently things in the background are getting killed much more aggressively.

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 10:56 PM PST

Question/TLDR: How can I troubleshoot/identify resource hogs? Can I monitor something, check logs, hit it with a stick...? I'm rooted if that helps.

I'm having troubles where things are closing without error (seemingly because Android killed them because it needed more memory). Built in memory stats don't seem to reveal anything untoward.

    Background

I'm using an Essential PH-1 with stock Android 10, rooted with Magisk.

Lately I have noticed the phone closing things "in the background" more aggressively than I'm used to.

First I noticed that switching tabs in Firefox, pages often have to reload. But it's gotten worse.

I play Pokemon Go, which is probably the most hardware-intensive thing I do. I also use CalcyIV, a little app that watches the screen to get extra stats for Pokemon.

I've used that combo for years but only in the past couple weeks I've had CalcyIV just die and disappear even though it has an onscreen button (so it shouldn't be considered 'background'...)

Tonight I've been browsing Reddit (using RIF) and using Firefox, plus listening to Spotify. Several times Spotify has died. It doesn't seem to die if I have it open in split screen.

The PH-1 is aging, but it does have 4GB of RAM and isn't a slouch. It shouldn't be this bad, but I don't know how to figure out what's wrong or how to help.

QUESTION: How can I have more options when I change my volume on my NOKIA 7.1?

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 04:55 PM PST

When I change my volume it is sometimes either too loud or too soft, but i can't get anything in between. Why don't they do just a 1 to 100 slider?

Can you change volume slider in Android to 0-100% instead 7 volume rocker presses till full volume?

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 08:44 PM PST

I'd like to have the volume on my phone work on a % basis. Like 0-100 instead of 7 presses that takes me from 0-100 which is about an increase of 15 volume steps per volume rocker press. Is there a modification or app out there to make this possible?

    In app ads won't load

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 08:37 PM PST

Hi, a few months ago, most in app ads stopped loading for me. I wouldn't mind this if it didn't also affect optional ads. Sometimes I watch these to earn rewards in games. This issue happens on both data and wifi. Spotify and Youtube ads still load though, and I'm guessing it's because they're handled differently somehow.

I already tried searching online for help but I couldn't find much. One suggestion was to reset my google advertising ID, which didn't work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

USB OTG not working on apps other than file explorers type. Couldn't switch usb otg host, but fine when connected to pc.

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 04:44 PM PST

Hi, i have galaxy s20+, with the latest update to one ui 3.0 android 11, my usb otg no longer working. I can browse the file just fine on any file explorer apps, but other media apps like video player, music player, and even e-book reader wouldn't detect the usb. I assume this is the permission issue since the usb is still detected and usable with file explorers. and another thing is, with the usb OTG connected, I couldn't make my phone as a host by selecting 'USB controlled by', it stuck at connected device and couldn't switch to this phone. But, when connected to pc or usb hub, it works just fine, so it wouldn't be the port issue. the file explorers wouldn't let me change the default app to open my files in the usb otg and just send me to the play store for compatible apps. Any way to fix this?

Could my Samsung S8 be infected with malware?

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 07:42 PM PST

So a couple minutes ago I was on the YouTube app on my Samsung S8. I was in a unstoppable ad for YouTube movies, and my grip slipped on my phone and it dropped onto my lap. When it did, it clicked on the ad and a browser opened. I immediately closed out of it, and didn't see any content. When I looked at the ad details, it said that the link is to youtube.com/movies. I have it so that every app cannot download unknown apps, and I didn't see any downloads show up. I checked the running background services in the developer options, and saw nothing out of the ordinary. I downloaded Malwarebytes Mobile and it said nothing was wrong. Is my phone safe from any malware? Could it be infected? In the future, is there any way to make it so that youtube is not allowed to open the browser or google play store at all?
