Problems with DualShock 4(v2) and new CCGT

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 04:55 AM PST

    Hello,

I have a problem with my DualShock 4 v2 Controller. If I connect him via bluetooth within the settings it works normally.

Now the problem: If I turn the controller of and later on, it has an annoying input lag. Sometimes one second, sometimes 2 or 3 seconds.

If i remove the controller and reconnec him, it works. But thats not the solution.

Do you have any tipps, i read about an app that could help but i haven't found it in the playstore.

    Thanx.

Matching refresh rate and screen resolution on Google TV

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 03:26 AM PST

    Hi,

my new Chromecast with Google Tv is set to 4kp 60.

I have 2 sports apps (NOW TV and DAZN) that works at 1080p 50.

Is Android TV going to get a matching frame rate feature?

I tried the Refresh Rate app on the store, but it doesn't work properly. It offers me only to set resolution to 1080p 60, it doesn't let me choose the resolution I want.

    Any workaround?

Is there a way to increase the Color on Game Mode in picture settings?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 01:02 AM PST

Game Mode reduces the input lag tremendously, however the color leaves a little to be desired. The Vivid settings is good, so I was trying to copy that. I try increasing the "Color" in picture settings, and it just doesn't change at all.

Am I missing something? I even reduce the Color to 0 and it stays the same.

Looking for cheap android TV box suggestion

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 10:17 PM PST

My android TV boxes are getting pretty long in the tooth and need replaced. I'm looking for good featured devices with Bluetooth and gigabit ethernet support, decent gpu, 4k, multiple USB ports, SD/microSD slot and Legit Google play store. I need like 6 or 7, so I'm not looking for Nvidia Shields those are a little out of my budget. Most of my current boxes have 8 core arm processors with Mali 450 gpus, at least 2gb ram 16+gb storage or better specs. I'd like to keep the price around $50-100 ea. I would go with 4k firesticks but they don't have ethernet or expandable storage.

Any suggestions? What are you using? Got links?(preferably Amazon, ebay, wish, banggood)

I use Netflix, disney+, Amazon prime video for streaming and also play games.

    Box Supporting USB Hub

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:55 PM PST

Any Android Tv Boxes that support USB Hubs? I'm looking for a simple Kodi interface that can support my 4 2TB self powered USB Hub enclosure; no streaming or internet connection required. This will be used on a boat at sea; ideally would have a remote for ease of use as well. Open to all advice and suggestions

File commander shows the progress and about 2/3s the way through and stops for a couple moments and then continues through the process but at the end says that it did not install. I have cleared the cache and restarted, don't know what else to try. I'm using the newest release of game pass...help!

    Android TV or Chrome cast

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 01:29 PM PST

I got a Sony Android TV today. Before that I didn't even know Android TV is a thing, so now I'm trying to get my head around that. In my previous apartment there was a FHD tv, for which I got basic chrome cast (the cheapest one). Now I have a 4k Android TV and a chromecast, and I'm a bit lost.

I've connected tv to the internet via WLAN, and it works much faster than with on wifi. But I can't control Netflix through google nest mini, which I understand is a common issue for Android TV. I can plug in my chromecast, but I don't think it supports 4k. What is my best option here? Continue using android TV? Switch to old chrome cast? Or buy chrome cast ultra?

    Chromecast with Google TV disappointment

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 12:03 PM PST

I was looking forward to becoming a fan of the new Chromecast with Google TV, but it's not working out. We previously used an Amazon Firestick, (and a Chromecast) but I like the idea of being able to access content from different services (Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, HBO) without having to go through each app separately.

I like the look of the homescreen, but have discovered that the functionality is terrible. Video freezes or will not start in Youtube, cannot fast forward or rewind with Hulu, Netflix does not remember where to resume a program. We reconnected the Firestick and everything works as it should, so it's not our wifi or internet connection.

Maybe we just have a bad unit, but the entire experience has been a major disappointment.

    Newb to this community.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:10 PM PST

Ah, just discovered this subreddit. I should have looked much much earlier.

My first android box (X96 Mini)
Second box (Pendoo w/ bluetooth backlit keyboard) linked is the same unit minus the keyboard they no longer stock that combo.
Third (TiVo Stream 4k) This one is arriving today from Amazon to replace the pendoo.

My very first media box was a Micca from 2014, pretty much a media player w/ ethernet, HDMI 2 USB ports and a remote. It did exactly what I wanted it to; play every type of codec possible at the time from a internal HD and external HD/memory sticks. Worked great at that, sucked at everything else including any internet content. When the second box failed I was do for a TV upgrade at the time (3 years ago) and experienced my first "Smart TV" LG 4k w/ WebOS which holy shit, amazing. It played every file (265 & 4k) w/ no problems, did web browsing decently, snappy OS etc.

Oh derr, I did have a Boxee Box when it first came out (2010) I totally forgot about that, that was actually better than the Micca but I returned it because broke, it did everything the Micca did plus it fetched content, only external drives.

Now on to Android TV, I setup some workout space in the garage and needed some content as there is no antenna reception in this part of town. Settled on the X96 Mini; mainly using Kodi w/ external drives as well as Amazon and youtube, it does not disappoint. I recently found a 2010 Sony 55" 1080p curbside and rescued it, it actually works and has replaced my 4k LG because the picture quality is so much better + bigger screen. It has ethernet for smart TV features, but it's 2010 technology which doesn't do much at all. Now I'm missing WebOs and turn to Android TV.

I get the Pendoo as it's specs are pretty sweet. I've had it a few weeks and it's a big disappointment, especially Kodi which for some reason plays videos horribly (really dark and pixelated.) The one main thing I really need the device to do is play videos from an external source. VLC does a fantastic job of playing files but I'm not in love with the interface. Out of the box Kodi would not even launch, I had to update it, even then if I try to switch between apps the OS gets buggy and I find myself "sweeping memory." Meh. Plus the remote is damn loud, every time I press the button it sounds like I'm disciplining a dog with a clicker. That USB keyboard (with dongle) that added another 40 bucks or so the bill is horrible, there is no solid color combo (it is capable) it either flashes different colors or snakes different colors plus it's just awkward to use.

I was going to go ahead and try the Amazon Firestick (2019) w/ Alexa or whatever voice remote but after researching it will not play files from an external HD. I believe the 2018 model can if you buy a special USB splitter (power to unit, unit to usb external memory stick.) BUT it has to be fat32 and can not be over 64GB dongle. Ugh, nope. Plus they are on backorder for another 2 weeks.

Everything else on Amazon looks pretty much the same; all cheap Chinese no name devices that have one thing in common; bare bones Android with some MEH interface, which is why I'm giving the Tivo a try, should be delivered sometime today.

My questions are for the X96 Mini and Pendoo if anyone has one, out of the box what software/mods did you do to make it better? Also, is there a way to have Kodi/VLC or any other player fetch video information/album art etc? I know Plex does this but I don't want to stream, tiz why I need a box that has at least one USB port.

Any other boxes on Amazon that stand out amongst the others? Everyone has the same star rating and reviews, just seems to be "try n buy."

More questions I'm sure but I'm tired from typing.

    Smart Youtube issues

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 10:46 AM PST

My smart youtube app keeps saying it has signed me out of Google and asks me to verify my Google login. If I hit the home button and open the app again it works fine and shows I'm logged in. After 10 or 15 minutes it will say I'm signed out again. Is there a fix to this issue? Its super annoying.
