Why is YouTube keep checking for incomplete downloads?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 12:56 AM PST

The download option is not even available for non- premium users anymore. But I've beem getting notification once in a while that YouTube is checking for incomplete downloads everytime I connect to a network. What the hell is wrong with the native YouTube app?? I've seen it in several different android mobiles. Is there a way to stop the app from checking for downloads everytime?

Contact Numbers I had deleted earlier in time suddenly reappeared, when deleting them it says "Error".

I tried clearing data & cache with no success. The Contacts app is fine, only the Phone app has this issue.

    Someone help? :(

google assistant fucked by recent update?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 12:55 PM PST

i woke up today and decided to make some breakfast. i stick some bread in my oven to toast it (don't have a toaster) and tell google assistant on my samsung galaxy s9 to start a timer for 10 minutes like i have a million times bedfore. instead of just starting the timer at 10 minutes in the background liek it's SUPPOSED to, it opens the clock app, and then does nothing. it just opens the clock app. that's it. no timer, no nothing.

i just tried it again several times just now. if i just say timer, it only opens the google clock app. before, it would ask how long to set the timer for. if i say "timer 10 minutes" or any other number of minutes it still only opens the clock app. that's it. i still have to manually set the timer. i can tell that it registers what i am saying since it still shows "timer 10 minutes" in the text on the screen as i'm talking to it, so that isn't the issue.

i rely heavily on timers to get through my day since i have adhd (actual diagnosed ADHD which i get prescription meds for, not just trendy "internet" adhd) and CONSTANTLY forget things, so i absolutely MUST have this function since i get stressed having to manually input timers 5 trillion times a day. so what the fuck is this and how do i fix it? thanks in advance.

Lightweight Android App Emulator For Windows

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 11:55 AM PST

Hi, I'm looking for a lightweight, simple and, more important, reliable way to run android apps on a windows environment.

Right now I've been using BlueStacks, but all I need is to run Whatsapp Business (I can't have devices for all the numbers) and Bluestacks focuses on gaming, so it's not really optimal for this use case.

    Any recommendations?

*I'm not comfortable with using APKs, Google Play support would be better.

If an IM app uses system camera app to take pictures and record videos, are the files available outside of the app?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 11:37 AM PST

Some IM apps I know and use, like Jami or Element, use the system camera app to take pictures, is this implementation not private?

What I mean to ask is, if the system camera app takes a picture and then it gives it to the app that requested it, is there only a copy of the picture taken and it belongs to the IM app or the system camera app has a copy of it?

Another way to put it: can the system camera app take pictures without knowing what the picture is or that it did at all?

    Problem with BLE Devices

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 10:14 AM PST

    Hi,

Since I switched from my Pixel 4 to the Pixel 5 I had some Problems with BLE.

In a App used to see all BLE devices that are near the phones I see a big difference between the two phones (Both phones on Android 11). I tried multiple apps and I always see the same difference between the phones. Even in my own App with debugging active I couldn't see the reason for that difference.

    Side to Side Comparaison

Now my question: Is that a hardware/Firmware issue on Google's side or is thee something major that changed between the two phones?

Also what may be a factor: I'm trying to connect to a BLE Device I built myself. But I don't think that is a factor since it connected fine on my old phone.

    What I tried:

    • Restarting the Phone
    • Turning off/on Bluetooth (as far as killing the Bluetooth Service)
    • Debugging with Android Studio to see if the Logs would help identify the issue

Update: Problem seems to be also present on the Samsung A21s with Android 10 so it may be a Problem in Android itself.

Need some lock screen help on my S20 Plus

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 10:11 AM PST

I have a new S20 plus, and I have a problem that Google hasn't helped me with due to overlapping terms.

There are two different screens that seem to be referred to as the 'lock screen.' One is the black 'Always On Display' screen. The other is the actual screen from which you unlock the device which appears once you interact with the phone.

What I want to do is have the latter - the actual interactive screen - appear when the phone is in use, not the black screen. The interactive screen on mine is attractive, and the black one is not. Since the phone is almost always at home (I'm only out an hour or so per day), I'd rather have the attractive screen showing. Simply turning off the AOD means it goes pure black, which is not what I'm after.

I do not want to have the phone stay on and unsecured, I just want it to show the attractive screen I enjoy looking at instead of going black. I realize that this will have an impact on battery life.

    Chat Bubbles Super Buggy

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 09:53 AM PST

I just got the Oneplus 8t 5G and when I updated my phone to Android 11 facebook chat bubbles started not working properly. To be more specific when I select a specific bubble it doesn't open the right one. When I try to select the right one it closes the bubbles. It only stays in the last thread that I was using. Is there any fix for this?

Can I configure Sleep Mode to manual and set non automatic time window?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 09:27 AM PST

    EDIT: I ment Bedtime Mode.

I have setup Sleep Mode, but the options don't fit exactly what I want.

Right now the closest to my liking is set it as scheduled with time window 00:00-08:00. I have added the Sleep Mode tile in Quick Settings, that works as a kill switch or force button for activating out of the scheduled window or disabling while enabled.

What I would actually want it to do is set a preferred time window like 00:00-08:00 but not to activate automatically. I want to only activate when I trigger the Sleep Mode tile. If the time is between 00:00 and 08:00 nothing will happen unless I trigger the tile.

I don't want it to activate automatically. I only want to have the time window as a plan and activate on my will when in that time window. If I don't trigger it, nothing should activate.

Is this something that can be configured? Because right now I have to go to settings, enable scheduling when I want to activate while in that time window and just trigger the tile if I decide to cancel before the time window ends. It's a real hustle.

Recover data from a one plus 6 with broken screen

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 09:11 AM PST

    Hello everyone,

I have a One Plus 6 that fell and the screen is now black and the touchscreen doesn't answer anymore. It seems to work because it can take the charge, I can turn it ON/OFF and the ring to put it in silent/ringing mode makes a small vibration. The computer also detects it but it doesn't allow me to get into it to get my files. I tried to use an OTG cable and plug the OP6 to a TV with an HDMI cable but it seems that OTG is by default deactivated on the lockscreen so it doesn't do anything. USB debugging is also not activated. Is there a solution for me that doesn't require changing the screen? Thanks for your help!

    In desperate need of help

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 08:25 AM PST

    Hello

I have downloaded an apk to my phone (from the source itself, so no piracy involved) and tried opening it for installation. since it did not open with one press, i foolishly tried pressing it multiple times. the apk not only did not install, but also filled space in my phone for every press, and left me with barely any of the 10+ gigs of available storage i had left.

can someone please help me remedy this, i am at my wits end.

my phone is a motorola moto g7 running android version 9. it is unrooted but i am willing to root if it solves the problem.

One set of headphones isn't being detected when plugged in

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 08:11 AM PST

I have a huawei P smart and today I plugged in my main pair of headphones and the phone didn't register them as connected. I checked the port and it was clean.

The headphones work and nothing on them is damaged and the 3.5 on my phone still works since I plugged in a different set of headphones and it played fine. my main headphones will only register as connected if plugged in a certain amount, but that point basically impossible to get.

    Any idea what is happening?

Volume and power buttons don't work anymore and I can't power on the phone now

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 07:02 AM PST

I have this Xperia XA Ultra. And recently the power button stopped working and I could not power it on. It was fine for a while because I figured out that by connecting it to my laptop and pressing one of the volume buttons, it would power on. BUT now the volume buttons have stopped too and its switched off and I can't power it on now :( I can't get a new phone for a few months and anyway there are important media and messages in there. Can I do something to power it on without the power or volume buttons? Thanks!
