    Sony XG80 49inch, a little help

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 06:07 AM PDT

    Heya fellas,

I have a small problem with this tv, which I, apart from that slight problem, absolutley love. Anyway, for some weird reason my Wifi will disconnect over night! It will never disconnect while in use or turned on. It only happens when i fall asleep and it auto turns off, or sometimes when i turn it off manually, and leave my house. When i come back it just says "wifi is not connected". I then just manually reconnect and everything is fine. It seems to me that, after sometime when screen turns off and tv goes to standby, wifi will disconnect for some unknown reason. I mean, i guess its not supposed to work like that, right?!

Now i tried to do some troubleshooting found on sony forums, i tried factory reaset, but its always the same. My wifi at home is 5ghz, shld i switch to 2.4maybe? The router is like few meters from tv, signal is very good no problems here. But cld this router itself (its ubee one) be a problem? Any other device that i have in house works normally. What to do, what to try? Do you guys have any suggestions? Is there a way to keep wifi always on android tv trough some setting?

Also, a small side question - do you guys think this line of bravias will be updated to andorid 9, or is it pretty much stuck on 8 because of SoC thats inside?

Thanks for any replys in advance, cheers

Mibox 3 reboots randomly after latest update

    Posted: 06 Oct 2020 06:12 AM PDT

Hey all, my mibox 3 now randomly reboots itself when watching iptv in perfect player since the latest update. Happened at least twice a day so far. Has not happened in any other program, yet.

    All programs are latest version.

I did a full reset last night but it didn't seem to fix.

    Anyone else having this issue?

The new Chromecast with Google TV does NOT support Auto Framerate Switching

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 08:35 AM PDT

I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up, in case you are an avid Kodi or IPTV user, this might not be the device for you (or at least until they update it).

This came as a big surprise to me, and I'm really disappointed as I was looking forward to replace my MiBox S with something more stable in terms of AFR.

    First, the good:

    - Dynamic Range Switching works well in most apps (Tested Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Plex, Kodi)

    - Correctly switches between Rec. 709 & Rec. 2020 color spaces

    - Doesn't work in Movies Anywhere for some reason

    - Passes through correct HDR10 metadata, including MaxCLL, and MaxFALL

    - Chroma upsampling is good, the same as other recent Amlogic chipset-based devices I've tested (ODroid N2)

    - Supports CEC and IR remote control

    - Speed is really good, not up to the Shield TV, but it's also 1/3 the price or less

    - Frame rate can be manually set, only 23.976Hz, 25Hz, 29.97Hz, 50Hz, and 59.94Hz supported

    - The UI shows them as whole integer frame rates, but I've confirmed via HDFury Integral 2 that they are not actually integer frame rates

    Now, the bad:

    - HDR10 content has raised black levels

    - No passthrough of Lossless Audio Codecs

    - No automatic refresh rate switching

    - Refresh rate app does not work

    - No automatic refresh rate toggle in settings

    - Confused by this one, I thought I saw it reported somewhere else that it does, but nothing exists that I can find

    - Plex & Kodi don't support automatic refresh rate switching

    - MPEG2 Live TV direct plays in Plex, but has pretty bad stuttering issues, whether interlaced or progressive (maybe being software decoded?)

    - Voice search does not support Plex/Kodi

    - 24.00, 60.00 refresh rates are not supported, even when manually setting

    - Some EDIDs result in 8-bit HDR10, and some don't. I'm not sure why that is, but if I plug it directly into my C9, I get 12-bit, but if I plug it into my HDFury Integral 2, set to an EDID with DV and all HDR10 modes, the device get's stuck in 8-bit when switching to HDR10.

    - Oddly some EDIDs result in Integer frame rates when manually picking one from the settings, and some result in non-Integer frame rates. For instance, if I plug it into my Oppo UDP-203's HDMI passthrough, all of a sudden a new 4K SMTPE frame rate option become available, which is 24.000Hz, 24Hz is still 23.976Hz, but 30Hz, and 60Hz are now 30.000Hz and 60.000Hz respectively. However, plugging it into my TV/Receiver directly, results in the non-integer frame rates I originally saw in my post.

Phillips Android TV no network debugging option?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 09:43 PM PDT

My TV doesn't have a network debugging option. Can I use usb debugging to update it to Google TV, removing Android TV launcher? If so, how? Any help would be appreciated. I'm following those guide on how to geek.

What controls which "services" appear in AndroidTV's Live Channels app?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 03:14 PM PDT

First off, I have a Tivo Stream 4k, where I use the "Live Channels" app to stream content from both Pluto and Xumo. I love having both service in one place. I have lots of "tweaks" that I'd like to make to the Live Channels app to make it more user-friendly, but its usable.

Separately, I also have a Sony Bravia X900H, which has its own native "Channels" app. It works similarly, but not identically to, Google's Live Channels app. One program guide, and I can see Pluto and Xumo content in one place.

    My question is this...

What controls the content that works within these apps?

Several other services have aggregated streaming/live content that could be integrated. Peacock streams a ton of NBC content. STIRR streams a ton of Sinclair content (no political discussion here please). I'd love for them to all be in once place. I'm not going to open several different apps looking for "background noise" TV or channel surfing. Pluto and Xumo get all of my business there because they are integrated into a common interface. Wondering if these other services will get there at some point.

Original MiBox update to Android 9 --> IR functionality changed

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 08:51 AM PDT

Ever since updating to Android9 on my OG MiBox, I can no longer turn the MiBox on with my IR Harmony remote. Most other functionality seems to work; including power-off with IR. But it won't power-on (wake up from sleep) with IR. I have to use the Bluetooth remote to wake it up/ power on.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Any ideas on how to trouble shoot/fix?

Kodak Android TV - Need TV Manager APK

    Posted: 05 Oct 2020 09:36 AM PDT

I got Kodak Android TV 43CA2022 few weeks back and trying for Memory optimize app to kill closed apps and release memory because it takes time to open videos from Hard disk connected via USB 3.0 port (VLC Player).

I extracted the Mi TV Manager APK from Mi Pro android tv (using adb pull command) and tried to install on the Kodak. But it throws error as it require MiTV.API libraries. Any solution on how to install the TV Manager apk along with dependencies? When extracting a API from a TV (using adb pull command), how can I extract all dependent packages?

Is there any other app to clean the memory and boost?
