| Android Photos App No Longer Recognizing/Displaying Downloaded Photos Posted: 22 Oct 2020 11:18 AM PDT System setup: Verizon, Unlocked Moto Z4, Android 10: https://i.imgur.com/20peeep.png As of about a week ago, I am getting an issue where photos I download from chrome or the Fenix 2 twitter app are no longer showing up in the default Google Photos app. Additionally, all the old photos I had downloaded before that from Fenix are missing from the app, but the old chrome photos are still there. I am able to view the photos through the Download Manager notification, confirming that they are being downloaded. Incidental note: This all ocurred after I got a new SD card and copied over all the files from my old SD card. I wasn't paying close enough attention directly before or afterwards, so I don't know if the problem started directly after replacing the new card (suggesting a connection) or if it happened a day or so earlier (likely coincidental in this case) due to an app update of the Photos app - all I know is that the first time I noticed it was after I had replaced the SD card. The download location for these photos, when investigated, is listed by Android as /document/xxx/, where xxx is a number incremented for each downloaded photo as shown here: https://i.imgur.com/iAj9MIH.png The former download location where the old photos from Fenix were stored is given by Android as /storage/emulated/0/Download/ as shown here: https://i.imgur.com/Fq9sjXj.png Old photos from Chrome are in the same place, according to the android Photos app: https://i.imgur.com/63VoHpf.png I have also used a file manager Android app called fx to explore the issue. Confusingly, the new pictures I have download from Fenix are also listed in /storage/emulated/0/Download/ according to fx, as shown here: https://i.imgur.com/fe50SRQ.jpg New photos downloaded from chrome are also listed in the same place: https://i.imgur.com/0GQeGxG.png Whereas the download manager gives the following confusing info: https://i.imgur.com/WXVUScv.png The Android Photos app refuses to open this file when I try - it goes instead to to the latest photo I had in the "downloads" folder before things broke. In summary, new and old photos from Fenix are not displaying, and new photos from Chrome are not displaying while old photos from Chrome are. It appears they are still being downloaded to the same folder as before according to fx, but the Photos app is not able to find this gallery anymore - except for photos downloaded via Chrome before the issue started. I would very much like to be able to access the photos I download in a gallery format without needing to go through fx, which is a great app for data digging but does not seem to display thumbnails. I attempted to install a different photo display app called "Gallery", but it also cannot find these missing new and old downloaded photos. | Camera won't focus after rooting Posted: 22 Oct 2020 03:28 AM PDT Hello Android community! I hope rooting related problems are not against the rules (I don't think it's "piracy" but anyway). So I have a Doogee N20, which I recently rooted with Magisk. Everything looks fine but the camera doesn't focus when i tap on the screen, no sound of lens moving, nothing. Also the internal camera is not working, when i try to open it there is a "flashlight or camera already opened" message or something like that. I tried to clear camera cache, using third-part apps, reboot phone and so on. It looks like I lost the camera drivers in the rooting process but I don't know how to verify it, also i searched on the internet how to install drivers on mobiles but I can't find anything. Posted: 22 Oct 2020 10:42 AM PDT I will probably need a new phone soon and I know its getting harder to root, the recent Samsung Exynos ones are worse battery and performance, so Im hesitant to get one of them. I might be able to import the S20 FE snapdragon from Europe which can have bootloader unlocked, BUT I know it is getting harder to root, so i want to know what are my options if I dont get a phone that can be easily rooted or I choose not to root Adaway - Im pretty sure I can add filter in settings somewhere BxActions I dont think actually needs root MacroDroid have it turn of data at night and when connected to wifi, I think bixby routines can do something like that? App Opps, gives me control over most permissions, so I restrict location, run in background, wake in background for some apps. Is there anything similar I can do without root? I dont know what permission manager looks like in Android 10/OneUI2.0 Titanium back up to quickly either disable or remove bloat - I know there is adb removal, how easy is that to use? Can it freeze things? I know when I dirty flash roms anything removed comes back, but if I freeze it it stays frozen. Not sure how OTA updates are though Viper4Android, makes music sound so much better. Is there anything similar if not rooted? Youtube vanced, I think that has a non root version right? | Audio issues since android update Posted: 22 Oct 2020 05:02 AM PDT Ever since I upgraded to the latest android update on my Pixel 3a, I've had issues with audio cutting out. Specifically, when the screen turns off after 15 seconds (or whatever the default is) it sometimes stops entirely and sometimes cuts in and out sporadically. This is most notable when I start to play music on Spotify and go for a walk, where it is completely fine until I come back and my phone reconnects to my WiFi network. The issue then begins if i turn my phone screen, for example, to change songs, and then let my phone screen turn off again - where it begins to cut in and out. However, I do not think the issue is my WiFi as this has even happened just on 4G on its own, as well as when having both wifi and 4g enabled. there is another thread on this with no responses. | Get back my data from a phone with not visible screen and not debugging enabled Posted: 22 Oct 2020 12:17 PM PDT Hi, I need to backup the photos from my broken phone, I did some research and my only hope apparently is to flash my phone with a Custom recovery like TRWP and then use it to create a shell to tranfer the data. But I only can get the phone to go on fastboot only. And I don't know how to install TRWP in fastboot mode kind to that. If I get an adb running then it's a win because i know how a shell works. Randomly in-between what ever I'm doing on my phone I'll suddenly be on a website like idk sports bets or +18 websites or just someone selling weird shakes or something. I though ok easy fix. Just pop in an ad Block and maybe change what your browser can do without your permission. No, not that easy of a fix apparently. I tried turning my phone off, looked at suggestions that people with similar problems got. Nothing helped. Now there is even little round icons with links popping up plus suddenly ending up on random websites. I don't know what to do anymore. Anyone have any idea what I can do? [link] [comments] |

| Android phone won't connect to internet over Wi-Fi Posted: 22 Oct 2020 11:58 AM PDT I have an older Android phone here (running Android 9 I think) and while it connects to Wi-Fi without a problem, it can't get an internet connection through it. Other devices can use the W-Fi fine though. Things I have tried:
So at this point I'm kinda lost. How do I make the phone use Wi-Fi properly? Update: If I change the advanced connection properties from DHCP to static IP and then enter a fitting IP-address, it works! But considering it didn't work with 2 different routers before, and that if I enable DHCP the phone is offline again, it seems that DHCP is just completely broken on the phone? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 22 Oct 2020 05:34 AM PDT So I woke up this morning to find that I was receiving notifications like 'chrome is not responding' 'email has continuously stopped working' this on three different apps, I thought maybe it was my storage, but nope, I tried sending feedback to one of the apps not working (chrome in this case.) And it told me 'feedback market agent is not working.' I have no idea of what the problem could be, the notifications stopped now, but if I try to open any of the apps the notifications will come back. Posted: 22 Oct 2020 11:06 AM PDT So I have a new phone, but from time to time go back to my Samsung to access certain things on it. About half a year before I stopped using it, it had charging problems, Up until recently I did not know why However, I realised that my charger would not go fully into the charging slot Upon inspecting the charging slot, there is a tiny metal obstruction (like the thin metal thing that you use to open a SIM slot only a lot smaller) that blocks the charger from going all the way in and charging my phone. It can be charged but I have to hold it down hard (which pushes down the metal thing sticking out) Did samsung do this to the phone so it comes out automatically after two years to get you to buy a new phone? Posted: 22 Oct 2020 10:52 AM PDT My tablet is in bootloop, I don't know if I try a factory reset or flash the stock firmware via Odin (thing I never did before and I'm a little scared of doing). Do I need USB Debug activated to use fastboot?? And do I need to "allow USB debugging"? I can't allow that since I can't turn on the tablet (so I don't even know if flash the firmware is an option) I don't know what to try first, because I'm afraid that if it doesn't work it would take away other options. When on youtube watching something or playing a game in full screen, there are notifications that completely break the experience of the app that is full screen. On youtube you can at least go back, which is annoying, but with a live stream or a game you can't go back and re-do/re-watch, so it's even worse. | Android 11 - double tap status bar to sleep gone? Posted: 22 Oct 2020 09:57 AM PDT I've migrated from LG G6 Android 9 to Pixel 4a Android 11, and this seems gone. I dearly miss it now, as the fingerprint sensor on the 4a is not a button as on the G6, but its power button is extremely "clicky". This worries me as I have a history with the power button failing (on a Galaxy S4 long time ago).. It did not work. Now, there was no update to the game when I tried this, and even if there was, the game should still be able to open it, right? One more. I play Geometry dash on this old tablet with android 5. The game is currently updated to the latest version. It is an HP tablet with Cyanogenmod running on it for android. | Honor 9 very slow to detect wifi networks or update signal icon Posted: 22 Oct 2020 09:43 AM PDT I'm using Honor 9 (STF-L09 model to be precise) with EMUI 9.1.0 Currently living in a large building (and by large I mean 13-century monastery) and we have WiFi routers scattered all over the place to maintain good connectivity throughout the area. However my phone seems to have problems with detecting networks and changing them. It often happens that I move far from one router and stand just next to another one, but my phone will still show max signal of the old network. Then after 10 or 15 seconds it will show no connection at all, and then after another 10 seconds will it finally connect to new network. So to summarize, it takes long to update network signal icon and also to change network long after moving from one router to another. Anyway to speed things up? [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 22 Oct 2020 08:46 AM PDT Desire: control any screens buttons with voice. Currently using tasker to accomplish voice control - this limits me to jobs that i can plan for. And requires hours of trouble shooting to build each task. Is there an OS or app that can be aware of all the buttons on a screen and let me interact with them? Example. If i'm driving with the gsp and i decice to deviate from my route - the gps keeps trying to correct me. I'd like to be able to stop it - then 'touch the text box' add new text, hit search - then hit give directions. All the buttons are already on the screen, but no way to touch them. Without me having previously build a tasker task. Example 2. My phone rings - I know there are buttons for answer, decline, mute, etc. Let me say what buttons should be pushed. With audio feed back would be awesome - have the phone describe to me the options available to me. (I know log cat gives me way more info then I need -) Currently running OP6 10.3.3 with various apps like tasker to make phone voice access able. [link] [comments] |
