Unlocking bootloader without mobile data Posted: 31 Oct 2020 08:49 AM PDT I use a Xiaomi Redmi 6A. I would like to root my phone, since I don't like the MIUI operating system. My phone is becoming old, so I want to use a lighter Android version, since it's quite laggy, even after factory reset. Therefore, I need to unlock the bootloader. I made all the steps without any problems, but I can't continue anymore. In fact, I need to use mobile data to associate my Mi Account to my device. The only problem is that I don't have any mobile data. I don't know if any solution exist. Maybe you have one ? [link] [comments] |
Nearby Share fails to enable wifi Posted: 31 Oct 2020 10:44 AM PDT I'm running EMUI 10 for reference. It works if I enable wifi manually, but it would be nice if it worked automatically. Is this normal behaviour, or is there some permission settings messed up or something? Any help will be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Controlling phone with a purple screen from PC Posted: 31 Oct 2020 08:17 AM PDT My Samsung A6 has a purple/black screen of death after a while of misuse and I can't see anything on it now. Unfortunately I was too late to backup my files from my Secure Folder. Because the A6 is a bit old and it's more worth it to get a new phone, I've gotten a new Samsung (A21, on a budget) since then. What's the best/easiest app to control my old phone from my computer? I've heard that Vysor is good. If I'm able to get past my lock screen, I'm gonna have to screenshot my way to navigating through my phone and installing Vysor. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Why does activating red cable on one plus causes notes to run in background? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 12:48 PM PDT I recently activated red cable on my OnePlus and since then I have noticed that the notes(application) starts running on its own in the background. I tried to debug the background processes that might be causing this with no luck so far. Can someone guide me on what should I look for or how to debug and get answers to below to questions - 1) What triggers the launch. When I force quit, I haven't seen the notes application launching immediately...so, I was wondering how can I catch the trigger? 2) What's the purpose? [link] [comments] |
How to use android audio via USB? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 08:30 AM PDT I know audio source was removed in Pi but, I have updated to 10 and it's still not back. How would I do this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2020 08:05 PM PDT My phone is Android 9 and still dont have update for Android 10. My question is, is it safe to install Android 10 on my phone even it dont have official update for Android 10 yet? Thanks :) [link] [comments] |
Identifying the last version of Android supported by my device? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 05:31 AM PDT Recently dusted off and factory reset my Tab A 8.0" (SM-P355) to use for a writing project. After going through the configs and triggering the software update, I'm on 7.1.1 for the Android version. Not cool, even though I know the device is old. I bought this from a retailer secondhand way back when, and it was not attached to any mobile carrier that would have kneecapped updates intentionally. Even Samsung will stop releasing updates for a device, though, at some point. Samsung's site has been unhelpful so far. https://www.samsung.com/au/support/mobile-devices/android-version-availability/ is the best I could come up with, but by tablet was a Malaysian device, and replacing "au" with "my" leads me to a 404. Refining my google search does not present me with a Malaysian page that has similar tables. Can you help identify that last available Android I can install onto my device? And, as the natural follow-up, how to force that final update onto it? [link] [comments] |
I want to be able to run Scrcpy without useing data cable Posted: 31 Oct 2020 07:34 AM PDT https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy So, Scrcpy can run over wifi networks, but one needs to run adb connect 5555 or something similar on PC beforehand USING THE CABLE. My phone's port doesn't work (it charges fine, just that the pc doesn't seem to recognize it). So any way to run that command on my phone. I have rooted my phone with magisk. Thanks for taking the time to read it. [link] [comments] |
Which Android FTP client supports the Modify Time (MFMT) command? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 11:16 AM PDT About the command: here. I would like to preserve date and time attribites when uploading files remotely. Is there any FTP client for Android that supports the MFMT (Modify Time) command? That time modification command would allow preserving the date/time file attribute. [link] [comments] |
Need some game controller help Posted: 31 Oct 2020 11:09 AM PDT I want real buttons when I play emulated ds and gba games. I've tried Bluetooth controllers, but they suck because it doesn't pick up most of my inputs. I also tried using a usb-c to usb-c to plug a Nintendo pro controller in but it didn't work. What's the best, cheapest gamepad option? (Galaxy s10, btw) [link] [comments] |
Location-sharing service is broken Posted: 31 Oct 2020 11:06 AM PDT I am using Poco X2, For few days location service is not working in background, Facebook messengers location sharing not working properly. Google maps working btw perfectly but it stops working when I minimize the app. The location icon just disappears from the status bar. Why this happening is there any new policy that comes on the android system which restricts third-party apps to use location service in the background? Or this just Xiaomi's MIUI 12 issue ⚠️? Please help me out. 😞 My wife's Redmi note pro has the same issue. I think this just an Android policy or MIUI issue. [link] [comments] |
Is there an app or feature, or even a feature that requires root, to *COMPLETELY* disable vibration? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 07:15 AM PDT I have vibration. I wanna disable vibration system-wide. Help Me. Preferably something in Android 10, and further. [link] [comments] |
Which Android FTP server app shows files starting with a dot? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 10:42 AM PDT In Unix/Linux-based OS, I tried multiple FTP server apps to see which reveals all files to the FTP client for backup purposes. I could use MTP, but MTP is stinking garbage and only useable for directories with few files. An early version of ES File Explorer does reveal all files, but has a problem: It only sends the day and month, not year attribute. Amaze file manager sends year too, but hides Is there any FTP server app that has neither of those problems? [link] [comments] |
Do any modern folder syncing applications work reliably? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 10:31 AM PDT I want to be able to sync my music and photo folders between my windows and android phone so that I don't have to manually copy over and delete entire 30GB libraries of stuff every time I move things back and forth, I also don't want to use the cloud at all. I remember trying to do this 4 or 5 years ago and back then I couldn't get anything to work reliably, applications would either not work at all or work somewhat with high amount of effort. In 2020 is there anything that does a good job of this? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 Oct 2020 10:24 AM PDT Everytime I factory reset my phone and router, I receive a text from a completely random number with an MMS (i have mms messaging set so then I have to click it to see it, which I don't, so no i don't know what it is), and then I continue to experience malware like symptoms. Multiple notification icons for reddit? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 10:17 AM PDT I have my op8pro setup to receive just notification icons in the status bar on android 11. All seems good but for reddit notifications I get the same icon notification as depicted here. Is this normal behavior? [link] [comments] |
Photos not showing up in gallery Posted: 31 Oct 2020 09:46 AM PDT I have a Samsung S9+ and recently my photos just don't show up in gallery. It also fails to download new images from WhatsApp and shows the message "Can't download because no internal storage is available" But this isn't really true because- All my apps are there and functioning When I switch off and switch on I can see the images in the gallery again and can download the images again but my phone switches off again on its own. Anyone face the same problem and has a solution to it? [link] [comments] |
Why inm seeing apps updates on Aurora store and not on Google Play Store? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 09:29 AM PDT There are some apps that show as updatable in Aurora store, but when I go to Google Play Store, I can't find them in updates. Why? Same thing for Aptoide. [link] [comments] |

YouTube app vs internet browsers. Which consumes more battery? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 08:43 AM PDT I mainly use duckduckgo browser for everything including watching YouTube but just wondering if the YouTube app is more battery efficient. My common sense says duckduckgo is more efficient is it doesn't track or save anything but I could be wrong, you tell me. Or are there other better options for watching YouTube? [link] [comments] |
S9 photo issues, so blurry all the time - should I get s20 or Pixel 4? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 04:56 AM PDT So, I have the Galaxy S9 and any time I take pictures of my kids who aren't super still, the pictures are blurry. No matter how often I try. My wife has an IPhone XR and I can take the same picture with her phone and its way more crisp. What am I doing wrong? I'm also soon to be due an upgrade. Purely related to this issue, is the S20 or new Pixel better? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2020 08:17 AM PDT Wife and I have Google Pixel 3as on Fi, she uses Facebook messenger, I'm devoutly anti-messenger and just use the standard android messaging app. Out of the blue she can't receive my messages but I can receive gets. If we swap the default message app she'll suddenly get the backlog of messages. Wtf is going on? [link] [comments] |
