Does ANYONE know why my messaging app does this when I'm in group chats? (Details in thread)

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 08:18 AM PDT

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why my phone has trouble receiving text messages in a group thread every now and then.

In short: Sometimes my phone will stop sending and receiving text messages from other users in a group thread. You can't see it unless you go to each individual users text thread where there is a "Downloading Message" icon/message.

    Here's an example: https://imgur.com/a/jUu9JNI

Image 1 is the group thread. In it you can see that my messages aren't being sent. Images 2 and 3 are two specific individuals from that original group thread. Their messages are downloading but I eventually receive errors that they can't be downloaded and I have to go back and redownload them.

Work profile only or work and personal profile - can't I choose later?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 11:22 AM PDT

My employer got me a new phone. I haven't yet decided whether I want to use it personally as well as for work. But during startup, the first thing I had to do was to log into my work Google account. Next thing is that I need to choose whether to use the phone solely for work or if I want to use it personally as well.

I tried to choose personally as well, but then it wants me to log into my personal Google account, and I'm not quite ready for that. So I chose "skip", and then it's back to choose between work only or also personal use.

Why can't I make this choice later? Do I really have to make that choice now, before I can use my phone? If so why - what's the point?

I'm tempted to just choose work only then, and go get myself a personal phone as well...

    EDIT: It's a Motorola Edge.

    Predictive apps dock

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 10:12 AM PDT

    https://imgur.com/a/VHH66sa

I turned on the predictive apps on my home screen in Android 11 and decided I didn't like it so I turned them off. Now I can't get rid of that stupid dock. I've turned suggestions on Home screen off but can't reclaim that space below the little arrow beneath my icons. It is like a universal dock or something and I don't particularly want it. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

how to add SIP account in Google Phone dialer

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 11:44 AM PDT

I'm trying to add my work SIP account to my phone. I know there are 3rd party apps but I understand that Android natively supports SIP. The various online tutorials online show that I can add a SIP account in the Phone app by clicking on the three dots (hamburger menu) -> settings -> Calls -> Calling Accounts.

I do not have a sub menu option called Calling Accounts on a Samsung Galaxy S10 running Android 10. I have tried both the Samsung phone dialer as well as downloading the Android dialer from the Google Play Store.

Getting old multitasker on android 11 with gesture controls?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 11:38 AM PDT

Recently updated to Android 11 (Pixel 3a), and realized that the multitasker for gesture navigation now shows shortcuts for screenshot and selecting text instead of app trayand Google search.

Was wondering if there was a way to get it back without changing from gesture to two button navigation?

Just feel that the shortcuts are redundant as you can just screenshot with physical buttons and you can select text directly by long pressing anyways. Now to launch a new app you have to swipe to first then open the app tray.

    Huawei UI on Samsung 10+?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 11:00 AM PDT

Hi, I know this is a bizarre question but I want to know if there is a way to do this. I just got a Samsung Galaxy S10+ and I am switching from a Huawei phone. I strongly prefer the Huawei layout, UI, theme, etc to the Samsung one. Is there any way to change Samsung's theme/UI/layout to match Huawei's since they're both android phones? Thank you

    Help with recent update!

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 10:59 AM PDT

Needing some help after I just updated my phone (Pixel 4XL). Here's are a few things that have happened.

-I receive a notification while my screen is open and half of it is cut off at the top like the screen wants to be bigger than it actually is?

-I can no longer take a screenshot by just holding down the power button and selecting "Screen Shot"

-I can't send a picture over text message because the "File is too large"

-I received multiple text messages this morning that I needed to "download" but the senders never sent me anything and the files also won't download

-I can't send a link to a video over text

-My service bar has an X over it but I'm able to make and receive phone calls

-I have (had as it disappeared today) a notification that is permanently stuck on my drop down that says I'm over my data limit? But I use wifi 90% of the time, am on a family plan with my fiancee's family so my Pixel should not have that information imbedded into the system? and when I tap "view plan" nothing happens anyways?

    Please help!

Cant unlock bootloader for Motorola G7+ "LAKE"

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 10:51 AM PDT

Update: The only problem I could possibly see as causing some problems is my battery percentage. I was at 60% when trying to do this. Could it be that I need to be 80% or higher for the command to run? I doubt it but thought it was worth mentioning.

I have done everything right. All the developer options are enabled. Oem unlocking enabled. USB debugging enabled. Fastboot recognises the device when running "Fastboot Devices" command.

When I use CMD or POWERSHELL on Windows 10 the following command HANGS/FREEZES rather than outputting the unlock code:

    "Fastboot oem get_unlock_data"

The command prompt or powershell just sits there despite the "Bootloader Logs" page in fastboot mode says the command was ran nothing happens.

I tried leaving it to wait to see if it was just being slow but noting happens even 30 minutes later.

Could someone please help/advise me on what possible problems there could be? All my previous Motorola brands(G5 and G6) had no problems to run that command. The only difference now is the phone model and/or I am now running Windows 10 rather than Windows 7/8.

Are there any apps that would put a "wait timer" for unlocking your phone? To break the phone-habits..

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 10:45 AM PDT

To break the habit of grabbing the phone every 3 minutes, I'd like to know if there are apps that make the unlock procedure take a minute or something, so that you only end up unlocking it if you really want to instead of at every whim when you're bored for 1 second.

Of course, incoming phone calls and maybe making phone calls can be exempt.

Does such app / tweak exist?

Why does my phone shut off at 2%?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 10:45 AM PDT

Before I start, this is just something I'm curious about, not something I want to fix, I know how to charge a phone.

When I got my LG Stylo 3 Plus in November 2017, I noticed shortly after it hit 2% it would turn off due to dead battery, compared to my S5 Neo which would turn off right when it hit 0%. When I upgraded to a G6 in 2019, it did the exact same thing, none of my Samsungs do this. Why do LG phones shut off at 2%?

Need an app to send outgoing phone calls from tablet to phone.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 10:16 AM PDT

I have a galaxy tab s5e and a oneplus 7T. I use my tablet mostly for navigation and Uber, doordash, postmates. Quite often these apps will need to make an outgoing call. Does anyone know of an app that would act as a dialer on the tablet but send the number to my phone to call. I was using textnow on the tablet, but it's not ideal and I don't really like making calls on the tablet. I know samsung has their own doin for this so there must be dining who has done this as an app.

Which is the best Android device streaming video?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 10:09 AM PDT

Hello, Which is the best device for Android streaming video between these ; a) Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019, b) Beelink GT King Pro, c) Ugoos AM6 Plus, d) Amazon Fire TV Cube or e) Odroid N2+. All these devices look good for Android operating system. I don't mind if it is Android system native or Android TV system, or if it plays Netflix Hulu Prime Video 1080p and if you can play games better. I am interested only which one is the best to * stream online videos or * from IPTV free apps, or * high quality videos from my storage. Like a media player testing in the same conditions without elements mentioned above (Android System, Netflix or Games) which one is the best? You are welcome for every experience you have.

I want to smash this Galaxy S20 with a sledgehammer.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 10:04 AM PDT

I moved away from Apple due to being fed up with being forced into syncing everything.

Today it looks like my entire Samsung calender app has deleted all it's future entries due to what I assume is some fucking syncing issue. I'm so fucking furious right now. Utter waste of 2 grand. Might go get a Nokia 3310 so I don't have to deal with this fucking syncing shit anymore.

Alternative to Good Lock for editing notification centre.

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 09:12 AM PDT

I've recently bought a Samsung Galaxy M51 which is great for my useage, and the battery is amazing. However, it doesn't support Samsung's Good Lock customisation app.

Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives? I'm mostly looking to edit the look of the notification centre.

    Thanks.

Suddenly having a lot of text and call issues on my S10e

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 09:01 AM PDT

Little background, my S10e is fully up to date, not rooted, nothing fancy going on with it. Just a stock phone.

I have TMobile and live in an area with good coverage. I also have WiFi calling enabled and set as the preferred method. My home WiFi is fine; I have a 200mb line (upload is ass though because it's Comcast) with a Ubiquiti AP, no other devices have issues.

Lately, there's a solid 25% chance that any text or call I send won't go through...except they really do. I'll send a text and get an error that it didn't send only to have the person respond, or I'll tap the message to retry and they'll get multiple copies of the same message. The phone app won't make dialing noises, but the other person's phone will ring and they'll answer and I won't hear anything. I have to constantly restart my phone to get it to start working again, and it only works for maybe a day before I have to restart again.

The 4G coverage is a little strange where I live; it's fine the moment I step outside but can be spotty inside. I'm in a first floor condo, so not underground or anything. But I would think that would be taken out of the equation with WiFi calling enabled. I also recently set up a PiHole for adblocking, but the problem was happening before that and disabling PiHole didn't fix the problem either.

I'm really fed up with this and have almost nowhere to point the blame except Android itself and it's making me strongly consider switching to iPhone despite not wanting to spend the money. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Factory-reset my Galaxy s7, and now I hear I can't get the "google now" launcher on my home screen anymore. Is there any way to get it back?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 08:44 AM PDT

I factory-reset my Samsung Galaxy S7 the other day after using it for 3+ years. I had always been using the "Google Now Launcher" on my phone, such that I always had a Google search bar at the top of my phone's homescreen, and if I swiped over to the left of my homescreen there would be the "google now" page with little "cards" telling me about the weather, news articles I might be interested in, my commute to work, etc.. I thought it was great and really user-friendly, and would check out the cards pretty frequently.

After I factory-reset, however, the Google Now launcher was gone, and when I did some searching online about it, I found out that it has apparently been removed/discontinued or something? I installed Nova Launcher and pinned a Google search bar to the top of my main phone screen, but I couldn't seem to do anything that would let me bring back the "google now" page on my homescreen with the cards. Also, my google Weather app (the one with the yellow sun as its app icon) disappeared as well! :( I installed "Frog Weather Shortcut" from the app store and it appears to be the same thing, but I'm not sure how I could get the original weather app back, if at all.

Does anyone know how to get the Google Now Launcher back? I really liked it and would like to have its same functionality again if possible.

    Thank you!

How to uninstall ACR unchained properly?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 08:17 AM PDT

I have Realme 6 pro, Android 10. I have ACR pro and I also installed acr unchained from XDA developers. The sound quality of recording was not good and there was a lot of disturbance. There is an in-built call recorder in my device which had better sound quality. So I uninstalled ACR app and tried recording with the in-built function. But now it is not working. There are recordings but no sound. How do I uninstal it properly?

Recent update makes my phone screen SUPER bright before alarm even goes off. How do i disable this? Pixel 2XL

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 08:08 AM PDT

Like title says, I got the most recent update for my Pixel 2 XL and now my android clock app does this obnoxious thing, where the screen turns to full brightness and has the alarm time displayed on a fully white screen 15 minutes before the alarm goes off, and it's so bright that it wakes me up! I hate it and want my extra 15 minutes of sleep, haha. Can I turn this off somehow? I've checked the clock settings and it doesn't even mention this. Thanks!

Android 10 doesn't let me download images, apps close suddenly, files app looks like I have nothing

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 08:07 AM PDT

I have a moto g⁷ play and it updated to Android 10 yesterday, and since then I've been having this problems. I already deleted the cache from everything I thought could be related, updated every app and turn off/turn on the device.

When I tried to download a picture nothing happens (like, as if I never pressed the option), and when I try to take an screenshot it says that I can't because I don't have enough space, which obviously isn't true.

The apps the close suddenly more often are Chrome and Facebook, specially the first one.

"Security patch level" (I'm translating this) is on Aug 1st 2020. "Google Play system update" is on 2020-09-01.

I don't know if you need any more info, but feel free to ask.

I can't find anything online about it besides someone saying the device should be "restarted as new", but wouldn't it be useless since Android 10 would be still there?
