| Posted: 04 Sep 2020 09:31 AM PDT I've been trying to get my assistant to work offline, as I don't have regular access to the internet, and I would like basic functionality like playing my music offline, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. In 2019, they demoed the new offline assistant stuff (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9LQX9cLnZk), but I've never been able to get it working. I use an honour 10 lite, on EMUI 10 (android 10), with the latest google assistant updates. A while ago I downloaded the offline voice files, but I can't find where the settings page for it is (I can only assume google removed that page in a recent update?). Am I missing something? Google's apps have horribly convoluted settings menus, so I think I very well could be. Or was the offline google assistant features only for pixle phones (I've heard they got some exclusive google assistant features or something to that effect.) Any help will be greatly appreciated. Posted: 04 Sep 2020 12:18 PM PDT So, I formatted my SanDisk 32GB Micro SDHC as internal storage for my Xiaomi Redmi S2 phone with 24GB internal storage, using Android 9. After successfully formatting it (or that's what the phone said) the storage displayed in my file manager is still 24GB even tho it should be 56? I've restarted my phone, still no change. Connected it to my computer, detected, appears as a drive, but can't open it (that may be because of encryption I believe). Tested downloading a big app on my phone (4GB), I still get the low storage error. After removing the SD card again, I noticed the app isn't on my home screen anymore. After inserting it again, the app appears, but the storage is still 24GB. What should I do? Thank you for your time. [link] [comments] |

When I click to compose a new text message and start to type the recipient's name, for a split second the contact list "covers up" the keyboard. When this happens if I'm typing quickly, I will accidentally choose one of the contacts that covers the keyboard. This just so happens to be my friend's mom named Abby. I mention that because it looks like the contact search is trying to "catch up" with the letter I type in (often not an A). So far I have confirmed this happening on my Motorola G7, and my friend's Pixel 2. I think the specific part is that it is GBoard and Messages that exhibit the issue. | SD Card Internal Storage Issues Posted: 04 Sep 2020 12:07 PM PDT So I put an SD Card into my phone to expand the storage a bit. move some files over that I don't need on the internal storage, like music and audiobooks and stuff like that. so, smarty boy that I am, I set it up as "Internal Storage" since that apparantly lets the device just use the additional storage. and at first it looked like it worked, but soon enough the og internal storage filled up, with vast emptiness on the SD card and I just got "welp, your storage is full, sucks to be you" error. am I doing something wrong? android doesn't allow me to move files to the SD cards, only a handful apps allowed to be moved to it. should I have just set the SD card as portable storage instead? I can't find any useful answers using my google fu, so I hope someone else can explain wtf even. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 04 Sep 2020 12:03 PM PDT Hi, when i tried to install some lineage os i was told to clear the phone, so in twrp i cleared everyrhing possible. now i cant do anything, my phone is locked and otg is also disabled. can someone help me? only way i think i can repair that is to get every file from original motorola one action in img and install it, but i cant find one, even boot.img. But i couldnt find a store with 16gb ram version, all they have is 12gb ram. Im currently using my phone to play moba game like Mobile Legends and Pokemon Go, so i was thinking to get 12gb since i want to get it ASAP and its $150-200 cheaper. My friend told me to wait and get the 16gb version since i might want it to run Ps2 emulator and i wont have to upgrade my phone for more than 3 years with 16gb ram. But he is no expert. | Euro Star Android tablet loops at logo after factory reset Posted: 04 Sep 2020 08:59 AM PDT Hi, I have an Android Tablet, EuroStar ePad GENTIE Pro (ET7183GQ-H16) It had a battery problem so I replaced old battery with new one and tablet turned on fully, but it was giving Google Play Services missing error, so I thought a factory reset will be good. But when I did factory reset, the tablet turned off and when it turned on, it stuck at the EuroStar logo, and just loops there(turn off and euro star logo). I tried to enter into recovery mode but tablet stuck there as well and did not entered into recovery mode. Here a picture of what happens when I select recovery mode. I downloaded the stock flash files the tablet and tried to flash it with SP Flash Tool, but it shows an error there as well. Error is : "Chip type not match! Target chip type is: MT6580 Load scatter chip type is: MT6577" Anybody knows how to fix it? Thanks [link] [comments] |
| A21S. Phone line going dead but call is still active. Posted: 04 Sep 2020 08:44 AM PDT I bought a brand new A21S a month ago and so far I've had no issues with it except that calls will cut out unexpectedly. The screen shows the call is still active but I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me. I don't believe I'm accidentally triggering mute or hold and those behave differently to this problem anyway. This has just happened four times in 30 minutes. | com.antivirus app using memory Posted: 04 Sep 2020 08:28 AM PDT Going through memory usage on my android I saw an app called "com.antivirus" using a lot of memory, I tried to click on it, but when doing so nothing happens, on all other apps I clicked on I was allowed to see more details about the memory usage, but not on this one. Also when going through my apps list and system processes I could not find this app. I find this very suspicious and I'm wondering if anyone knows what this is. And if my device could be infected. | Downloads don't show up in gallery or apps Posted: 04 Sep 2020 08:23 AM PDT I am a proud owner of a OnePlus 8 Pro and have a problem with my downloads for a couple of weeks now. Whenever I download images or videos, so all kind of media from my browser, they don't show up in my gallery. Also other apps like WhatsApp, Instagram or Twitter which show you your latest pictures when you want to post something also won't show them. I looked through the download folder in the gallery and several storage apps and can't find it there or in the storage of the phone. First I tried using a different browser, but it's the same problem with all of them (Chrome, Firefox, etc.). They have storage allowance, confirm the downloads and also show the files as downloaded in their settings. I can access the files from there, but this way is quite frustrating and is far away from usability, so I thought you could maybe help me. | Facebook Messenger chat heads appear for messages I've already seen Posted: 04 Sep 2020 07:37 AM PDT So sometimes (multiple times a day) a chat head will appear with the notification badge on it, even though it's an old message that I've already seen in the chat itself. Interestingly, there is no message alert on the notification bar, only the icon that tells you a chat head is open on the screen. Has anyone had this happen to them, or know how to fix it. What am I supposed to do now. Everything is moved onto the sd or deleted. The android folder is just 400mb and whatsapp folder is 100 mb. | What is this suspicious popup on my new phone? Posted: 03 Sep 2020 11:17 PM PDT I bought a OnePlus 7 Pro off of Woot from a link someone posted a couple weeks ago. I just got this suspicious popup and now I'm all paranoid my phone is hacked. The sticker on the box had been tampered with but I figured it was part of the discount or whatever... I haven't installed any apps off of the Play Store or anything weird. I tried Googling the popup but nothing comes up which is why this seems so unusual. The bootloader is locked - does that mean it's not possible the firmware has been tampered with? I'm kinda freaking out because I'm realizing it might be possible that someone could distribute a bunch of phones with hacked firmware that could compromise all of the users accounts, info, keystokes, etc. With access to someone's phone these days a hacker could do a lot of damage. I'm not sure on what level that is plausible but this seems super sketchy... Am I being paranoid and irrational or is this an actually plausible vector for a hacker? Maybe someone can tell me how I can confirm my OS is secure to put myself at ease? Please advise! [link] [comments] |
| Google pixel 3a sim card issues Posted: 04 Sep 2020 06:47 AM PDT About a month ago I bought a Google pixel 3a, new. I put my old sim card in, and for about 10 days it worked fine. In the meantime I had performed some updates. After a while it stopped recognizing my sim card (the mobile data icon will say "no sim card"). Restarting only worked for a couple of minutes. Taking the sim card out and putting it back in didn't work at all. I sent the phone back to the shop and they sent me a new one. Within two days, same problem with the new one. The thing that stumps me is that my sim card works perfectly fine in my old phone. I've had it for at least 4 years but never had any issues. So now I'm not sure where the issue lies: is it software? is it the sim card? is it the hardware/phone itself? When I put my friend's sim card in, it works fine. When I put mine in, it doesn't. I already called my provider and they performed a reset, after which it worked for about half an hour and then stopped again. I can't make sense of it. Does anyone know a possible fix? I still have about 25 days to return the phone for a full refund, but I really like this phone so far (apart from this issue), and am hoping it can be fixed. Please help! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Sep 2020 01:59 AM PDT Especially while playing games (rarely even in other apps like Youtube) my device would kill System UI and other screen composition services freezing the device and forcing me to restart. When it happens it looks like the device would suddenly try to load my lock screen but fails to do so and freezes the device. I mentioned System UI specifically since the behaviour I have is exactly what you get if you Force Close that app. ASUS Zenfone 3 Laser running Android 7.1.1 patch 5 July 2018 (Italian release, 8.0 update unavailable for this release). At first on the may update I was really blown away by the sound quality with the app which tuned my sound. (Moto audio- tuned by Dolby) I do not remember the version and which is why I can't just install it. So if anyone can find it please do share it with me. I am very new to custom roms. | Samsung galaxy s8 no service ? need advice/help Posted: 04 Sep 2020 03:17 AM PDT Hello everyone so i have this samsung s8 and it seems when i put the sim inside my service is very limited i do have it but its limited to a bar or 2, meaning i can hardly make calls or receive any and if i do my and the other parties voices crack basically its impossible to talk with someone. Now at first i though it was the service provider not having a good coverage in my area so i talked to them a bunch of times and we did some tweaking etc but that resulted in nothing [ id like to mention that i spoke to my neighbor which has the same service provider and he says he has no problem] . After this i though that the fault could be in the sim itself so i took a spare phone and put it in and it worked normally had a few calls and was all good .
