Little (Should I say big ?)problem Posted: 24 Sep 2020 09:17 AM PDT Hi, everyone ! I have a little... I mean VERY big problem. I have an adware on my Samsung Galaxy Alpha, BUT i can't remove it. I don't wanna factory reset my phone, because I have a lot of stuff on it (Music, drawings, etc)and I don't wanna loose all and some of my games are only saving on my phone. My antivirus is ESET Mobile Security. I also tried using Bitdefender, and for some reasons Malwarebyte has been removed from Google Play Store. My OS is Android Lollipop. Can someone help me, please ? I'll edit the post when my problem will be solved. Have a good day ! Note : My problem is not so big, i'm just exaggerating to add a little touch of humor to it [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:42 AM PDT I need a new phone. I currently have a Huawei P20. It was a good phone but it's running insufferably slow. I need a new phone and there are so may options I really don't know what to get. I need a good camera that can capture good shots at low light as well. I would rather have a larger screen but any size at any refresh rate is ok. 128GB of storage is ok. I need it to run well even after 2 years of use. Budget is under £500. [link] [comments] |
[Pixel 3 XL] How do I go back to android 10? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:13 AM PDT I just got android 11, and i hate it honestly. All my apps are slower, some apps don't work the same, most of the new changes are useless to me. Is there any way to go back? [link] [comments] |

Is there a way to automatically connect to any open WiFi? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 06:23 AM PDT I'd like to use a phone without a simcard, but still have internet access if possible. In cities very many open WiFi networks exist, but it is a burdensome to keep connecting to new ones while on the move. There existed many Apps that did that, but all of those are out-of-date, probably because of the simple fact that just connecting to any open WiFi is a huge security problem. Since the network owner could do some very bad things and some trustful App that was not designed with security in mind could leak lots of information. But, if one would use system wide VPN as well, with some preshared key or something (e.g. WireGuard), or use Tor as VPN. This problem should be eradicated. So I am wondering if there is any way to automatically connect to any available network. And preferably do the annoying task of accepting the whatever terms and conditions of said network. Sadly all of those old apps were not open-source, maybe there is one now? [link] [comments] |
Randomized MAC address blocks wifi access? Posted: 23 Sep 2020 11:47 PM PDT Samsung Galaxy S10e, Android 10 stock. I am currently at a place were I use the public Wi-Fi. Recently, changes were made to the Wi-Fi here, I understand that a new router was installed. Since then, I have been trying to access the Wi-Fi with the correct password, but I get a message that sign in is required and when I click it, I am forwarded to a page that does not load. If I select the menu option to use network as is, I seem to be connected but have no access. In the past, when accessing this Wi-Fi, I was forwarded to a web page where I had to click a button, and then got access. That page has been gone for quite some time now and the Wi-Fi connected without any issues Others accessing the Wi-Fi do not have this issue. I tried numerous things to fix this issue, such as deleting the Wi-Fi connection and re-enabling it and resetting the network connection. The only thing that I found that resolves this issue is turning off the randomization of the MAC address and setting it to use the phone Mac address. For privacy reasons, I would prefer to use the randomized MAC address. If for some reason my phone is being blocked on this network, which is the only thing I can think of, in my limited knowledge of how this works, it would seem my phone Mac address would it be blocked but not a randomized MAC address, because it changes. My old Galaxy S4 running CyanogenMod Android 6 connects to the Wi-Fi fine, but I don't believe the MAC address is randomized on Android 6, if this is the reason, though this seems unlikely to me as every newer phone would have an issue, since they randomize the MAC address by default Can anyone supply me any info on this? Stop phone calls from interrupting music? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:42 AM PDT Is there a way to stop phone calls from interrupting my Bluetooth music without just hanging up on the person? I don't want to be rude but it's annoying when I'm at the gym with Do Not Disturb turned on and my music still gets a 30 second pause because someone's calling me. To me, that kind of defeats the purpose of "Do Not Disturb" because I am very much being disturbed. Is there something I can do to change this in the settings? Using Samsung S10+ [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to install Android on a jailbroken iPad Air? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:26 AM PDT just as the title says, is this possible today? If so, up to what version of Android? I have seen this question posted before but it seems like it's been several years since someone asked, but I could be wrong? [link] [comments] |
Help importing/syncronizing settings/contacts to new phone Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:13 AM PDT On the old phone (Samsung galaxy alpha) I went into the settings and turned on the backup settings and stuff was backed up to my google drive. On the new phone (motorola moto e7 plus) I used the same google account, going into the backup/restore settings only lets me know that it is turned on. But nothing has been synchronized. The new phone has 0 contacts. Going on my google drive -> storage -> backups does show a backup from the Samsung galaxy alpha phone. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do or what I'm doing wrong? Appreciate help [link] [comments] |
SMS app that keeps certain conversations at the top. Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:11 AM PDT Hello, I'm looking for a SMS app where you can set certain people and conversations to always be at the top no matter how old the conversation is compared to other new messages. I get a lot of automated messages that I use for different things like finances and shipping, and real conversations just get totally mixed in, and it's pretty I use signal for most of my close friends, I don't think that has an option like this, so I keep my SMS separate from signal right now. Weird noises that won't ever stop Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:02 AM PDT I keep hearing this really weird noise through my wireless headphones. It sounds like little lazer beams or like a lazer gun going 'pew pew'. It's very quiet and pops up regularly. I have my notifications on silent and I hear it in YouTube, tiktok, Instagram, and every single app I use whether it uses sound or not. At first, I thought it was just a noise they added to tiktok, but I was purplexed why it was so quiet. Then it kept popping up throughout the day. I have no idea what this is and it's kinda annoying. Anyone have a similar problem or know what it is? Im using jaybird x4 wireless headphones btw. [link] [comments] |
Need to root my Huawei P8 Lite 2017 for storage space. What do? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:01 AM PDT I've had this phone for about three years now and while it's not bad, unfortunately, it has only 16GB of storage space and doesn't allow me to move apps to my microSD card. It's been quite bothersome because the firmware, the uninstallable bloatware and my apps combined take up 90% of the storage space and it's really difficult to install anything now. It's even rendered some apps nearly unusable, like my manga reader which now crashes after a few minutes of use, I assume because of memory shortage. So, I wanted to root this thing so I'd finally be able to remove all that garbage and move my apps. Except this is my first smartphone and finding reliable info on how the fuck you do this has been very difficult. I've heard Huawei stopped providing bootloader keys a while ago, but some random thread seemed to give a way to counter-act that, except it was meant for the P8/P8 Lite and didn't actually say if it worked on the 2017 model... This is fucking hellish. Please, can someone help me through this process ? Or at least, is there a way to fix this problem without having to buy a new phone ? [link] [comments] |
Installed an unknown apk, can't find the app. Posted: 24 Sep 2020 10:53 AM PDT I was trying to download a rom for Super Mario Bros. The file came in the form of an apk. Dumb person that I am, I tried installing it. There wasn't any installation screen, just a fading notification titled 'was installed'. I can't find anything resembling an app, even in the complete list of system apps. What should I do? [link] [comments] |
ctsprofile false without root - google accounts fault? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 06:58 AM PDT Im using a nonroot LineageOS 17.1 on my A5 2017 and I got a problem with my main google account: The Safetynet Checker says that my ctsprofile is false. Now I cant use my banking apps :-( At first I thought its the fault of my custom rom but it seems to be related to my google account because when I change my account everything works fine. Registering my GSF-ID did not help. Can anyone help me with this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 02:45 AM PDT Since upgrading my Pixel to Android 11, when I slide down the top menu I only see 2 rows of quick-action tiles (turning on/off WiFi, Bluetooth, Torch, etc.). I used to have 3 rows of tiles here, with a total of 9 tiles instead of 6. It seems that it's impossible to revert this change? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Sep 2020 09:32 AM PDT I looked online at the specs of my current phone and was delighted to find that the screen resolution is WQHD, but when I go into the display settings there is no setting to change it to use WQHD. I looked online to see if it's somewhere else but no, I was going to the right place, the option isn't available despite the fact that my phone has the necessary specs with a 2280x1440 AMOLED display. How do I set it to use that full resolution? If it helps than my specific phone is a Galaxy S10e [link] [comments] |
Removing pass code lock but keep data Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:41 AM PDT Sadly my dad died a couple of days ago. I need to access his contacts so I can let his friends know but he has set a pass code and none of his obvious choices are working. Is there any way to get around this without factory reset? I really need to know his contacts. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Transforming Samsung to look like Oneplus UI Posted: 24 Sep 2020 09:02 AM PDT So I'm a current Oneplus user and have gotten pretty accustomed to its user interface and OxygenOs. However I have gotten tired of using such huge phones and have been looking into Samsung Galaxy S10e which hardware-wise looks ideal to me. Only problem is that I hate Samsung UI and all the bloatware, bixby etc. If there is a way, I would like to transform that phone closer to the clean experience I get on Oneplus. At least remove the bixby thing, all the Samsung apps and it would be great if I could get Oneplus' Shelf system in the place of bixby when I swipe right from the homescreen. If there is a way to do this, please inform me. Best if rooting would be not needed. Is any close alternative of this achievable through a launcher for example? Any tips appreciated. The S10e looks great, I love the compact size and everything but it's not worth it if I have to deal with Samsung's crappy UI. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 09:01 AM PDT I accidentally dropped my pixel 3 into the water, it went under about 1 foot, and i immediately took it out. A few moments later it then proceeded to say the SIM card was no longer installed and get super hot. The phone got so hot it just shut down, and now wont turn back on. I've dried it out for about 3 hours, but still just bricked. Is my phone screwed? Do you think there is a chance it might magically come back some how? [link] [comments] |
Make an android tablet a kids device Posted: 24 Sep 2020 08:53 AM PDT My kid loves to play with our Alcatel Joy 9027W tab. But what we don't like is how she scrolls through youtube videos, or she keeps changing learning games because she's bored. What we're looking for is something like a kid launcher that lets us lock specific things on the tablet screen so that she can't even minimize anything. Something like its own school OS that lets us control whats on the tablet and when to change it. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Sep 2020 08:21 AM PDT I am having an issue updating my S9+. There is a security update out and I am unable to download and install via OTA, or by using the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant software on my computer. I have cleared the cache and performed a factory reset. After resetting my phone, I started receiving a green/teal screen that says I have unauthorized software on my phone and will have to take it to an authorized Verizon location on a few occasions. I am not sure what operation/software has caused this screen to pop up. This is additionally frustrating because the only software on the phone is what comes with the device. I haven't added any additional apps. This screen message does not seem consistent but instead, randomly generated. When I restart the phone, it boots up as normal. This morning I tried a new method of attempting an update using the Smart Switch computer application from Samsung, but the software update is hung-up at 0%. I am not sure if this matters or not, but I did notice some performance issues, prior to resetting, with sending MMS messages, where the image would not go through. If anyone has experienced this issue and has found a resolution, I would be grateful if they would share the solution. I just paid off this phone, not to mention it was the first smartphone that I have been completely satisfied with, and looked forward to not forking out the monthly installments for a new one.
