Android 10 Launcher that supports system gesture navigation?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 02:41 AM PDT

I'm wondering if anyone has found a Launcher that can tie into the system gesture navigation? I'm on a Moto G Power, and I'd like to try out the gesture navigation, but I can only do that if I use the default Moto Launcher. I hate the look of this, and it doesn't support folders so my app drawer is a huge mess. Was told once that access to the gesture API would be coming soon for launchers, but I can't find anything.

    Developer Options Reverting - A2DP

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:33 PM PDT

I'm running Android 11 on the Pixel 2. Recently I've been having quite a bit of annoyance when trying to play audio when my phone would claim to be paired with devices and claim that audio is playing out of the paired device, but audio would only come out of my phone speakers.

Through some research, several people seemed to have found the solution was to disable the Disable Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload option in Developer Options. Disabling this requires a restart, and upon restart, my issue would be resolved.

Until several hours later and I was paired to another device and it would exhibit the same symptoms. Upon closer inspection, I would find that the Disable Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload option was re-enabled. Again, disabling this option and then restarting would result in audio coming from the paired device and work as intended.

This wouldn't be so much of a problem if it seemed to happen all the time now that I've upgraded to Android 11. What I didn't mention is that this option is typically greyed out and I must disable developer options and then re-enable before I can get the A2DP option to be able to be changed. And I don't want to have to restart my phone every time I hop in and out of the car.

Anyone else ever come across Developer Options reverting? Is there any way to ensure that this particular option never changes unless I tell it to? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Accessing broken phone.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:50 PM PDT

I got a Samsung Galaxy J6 2018 a while back and broke it around January this year. The screen isn't too badly cracked but it doesnt show any light. Its basically just black whatever I do however it does ring and it vibrate. I dont want to fix it but I would like to recover many things that were on it that I just never backed up or anything. How would I do that? I've tried apps like vysor and they dont seem to work but my pc does recognise the device.

4 gb file limit on android devices

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:46 PM PDT

I have asus zenphone max pro M1 device with Android 8.0, 4/64 gb variant. I want to download file larger than 4 gb. My previous device had 4 gb Download limit(Fat32 fs) and the file would get corrupted if it was larger than 4 gb. I have tried installing terminal emulator and executing df and mount commands which showed exfat4 for boot sector partition and Sdcardfs file system for storage partition. Quick search on google showed nothing that could answer my question. Can I download files larger than 4 gb in internal storage of my device?

Failed to download multimedia message constantly popping up

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 10:24 PM PDT

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but a message that says 'failed to download multimedia message' constantly pops up and it's incredibly annoying. I've tried clearing cache, deleting the message, turning off auto retrieve and force stopping my default messages app but nothing worked. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy j3 from 2016 if that helps.

    -7 GB in other?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:03 AM PDT

See below for screen shot. I tried searching both Google and Reddit but didn't come across anything, sorry if this had been asked before.

While trying to figure out why my phone was suddenly full (separate issue, kids had installed a bunch of stuff. Should've known!) I noticed that the list shows that I have -7 GB under "other." Does anyone know what this is, and if it's going to negatively affect anything? And if possible, how to get rid of it?

Here is a screen shot (please ignore how ridiculously full my phone is, this was taken before deleting the stuff that my kids had installed): http://imgur.com/gallery/GJiyqLz

    Thanks in advance!

What is this icon? Screenshot in post

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 10:08 AM PDT

    https://imgur.com/a/olQYctl

I'm looking at the square shaped one.

I'm thinking it has something to do with "super status bar", as I've just reinstalled it, but I don't remember this icon being there before.

Edit- not sure if relevant, but this is a Pixel 2 XL on stock Android 11. Edit- fixed app name to "super status bar"

I'm also not sure why the "LTE" is now an "x".

Does anyone have a clue about these?

I think my phone's been infested with adware!

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 07:39 AM PDT

A few days ago, I downloaded an apk for an app which was not on the play store anymore (important reasons). But I think the app was infested with adware, so at times while the phone is on, a random chrome tab would open without my input while I'm doing something, and I would sometimes get erotic dating site ads or online casino ads. What can I do to fix this? I have limited personal data on my phone but it can be annoying installing all my apps again. I have a Samsung J7 Prime, model SM-J727T (t-mobile) running android 8.0.

The reddit app behaves differently when using Mobile Data and WiFi. Reasons?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 03:12 AM PDT

I have seen this behaviour across multiple reddit clients that when I'm connected to Mobile Data, it seems like the videos and the gifs load up much faster with no buffering when I'm playing them back. I have a 100 Mbps wifi, while my mobile data tops off at around 50 Mbps or so. In any case, I don't know why that should be a factor but here you go anyways. Why could this be happening?

    Downloaded virus out of curiosity.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:37 AM PDT

I installed a virus on my phone(out of curiosity instead of pure dumbness, which somehow makes it worse.) when downloading ISO file for PPSSPP. How do I know my phone is clean? I use Avast Antivirus deep scan and it tells me my phone is good.

Recently got a new phone, new to android, wondered if anyone could give me suggestions for some apps in the games and productivity section?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 01:38 AM PDT

I had Things 3 for my iphone and I quite enjoyed the simplicity of it, so if you have any ideas on what would be similar to that please share. Thinking about getting Nordpass as well, if anyone has had any experience with them do tell. And when it comes to games, I'm all open to suggestions, especially adventure ones.

Data transfer. iCloud —> Google Drive

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 09:46 PM PDT

Hello all. I have had an iPhone for 8+ years now. I still like iPhones, BUT I would like to give android a try. A lot of people are saying some pretty great things about the Pixel 4a, so I went ahead and ordered it. It is expected to arrive in a few weeks, and I am really excited to give it a shot. I pay Apple $1/month for an iCloud subscription. In my understanding, Google Drive is the Pixel lineup's rough equivalent to iCloud. I was wondering how easily I could transfer some 20 GB of data from my iCloud to my Google drive account. Does anyone have any experience with this? Anyone have a clue as to how I would go about it, and also how compatible Apple's compression/encryption is with Google's.

    Sorry to sound ignorant lol

    Thanks in advance.

Think I got some 'malware', keep having pop up ads randomly even on home screen. How do I know which app is causing it so I can remove it?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 09:36 PM PDT

As title. I tried going through apps installed in 'apps and notification' but I don't see anything suspicious. I also installed some new apps o recently installed but the ads didn't stop.

Using pixel3a if that makes any difference

Making a tablet show ONLY Google calendar for my grandmother

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 04:11 AM PDT

So, my grandmother had a severe stroke. Thankfully she has recovered quite a bit, but reading, writing and timekeeping is pretty much gone. I'm trying to find good options for a calendar that reminds her of the appointments she's got. I've made a separate calendar on my account for her stuff, and I think that'll work fine. The problem is displaying it to her. I'd love a tablet to simply hang on her wall that displays only the calendar, synced to my account and showing only her appointments. I want it to show today clearly on one part of the screen and the month on the other, with today marked with a different color. She must be able to view it and turn the screen off, but there needs to be no way for her to edit or otherwise accidentally mess up anything. Essentially the tablet needs to be a screen that I can sync to. Can this be done? I'm sorry if this is the wrong sub. I hope you will please point me in the right direction if it is.
