[DEV] My indie MMORPG Silverpath Online for Android is Online Once Again

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 06:41 AM PDT

[DEV] My indie MMORPG Silverpath Online for Android is Online Once Again

It has been over 2 months that I have opened the servers back again after 2 years, Silverpath Online was my college project back in 2017. At first, there were enough playerbase to keep the game updated, but later on I had to stop paying for servers and eventually game is closed.

Few months ago, players from alpha version added me on a whatsapp group and they donated me a server to keep the game updated. So I decided to launch the game once again.

    About the Game

This game is a action, no-auto targeting, openworld aka no-instance online role playing game. PvE, PvP is all good and PK (after lvl.20) is enabled. Local, global, party and whisper chat is available, guild(club) system is there but needs more work, such as guild world map, which is on progress. You can create your own club and even draw your own 16x16 club flag.. Trading is possible in any sense, you can use trading option for safe and important trades or just drop items on the ground. Don't forget that, you have to progress on mainquest to unlock further overwold maps.

    Classes

There are 3 classes currently, this is a sword arts game so all classes use melee weapons, yet they have magician skills too, since there are 5 different stats to distribute. Classes are Knight, Swordsman and Rogue. You can make you own build by distributing both of your stat tree limits on character creation and your stats points after each level. For Ex. You can you for Vit/Str Tank Knight or Will/Det Magic Knight. You also should have to distribute your skill points after each 5 levels.

    PvE and Equipment

PvE is pretty simple at first, and it gets super complex after the mid-game, you can still go for simple builds and finish the game, but it will take longer time to spend than usual. After the mid-game, you have to imbue your equipment with element pears, crystals and ores. Along with monsters having some resistance or weaknesses to certain elements, they have elemental attacks that would require counter-elemental imbued armor and accessory to lower their damage on you. So it is kinda pokemon-like to sum up.

    PvP and PK

PvP is simple, you can always send a duel request to anyone and do a battle on overworld without resulting in any death. PK on the other hand, has consequences and limitations. First you have to be level 20+ to PK or PK'ed by someone else. And then, if you change to criminal mode, you may not be able to revert it back for a minute, which means you are vunerable to any attack for that long, when you are killed on criminal mode, you will be sent to jail for a while depending on your crimes. Jail timer does reset when you background the game or exit.

    Cash Shop, Cosmetics

Maxing your character out in this game won't take a long time since this game is completely free to play and premium cash shop only consist of cosmetics. Also stats reset, skill reset and item protection dust is in the premium store but theese are obtainable in the game and its guaranteed that you will have them as long as you keep doing side quests.

Here is our newly created discord channel

Here are some screenshoots from the game

    first days of alpha

    mid alpha

    late alpha

    beta (shoot from sanctuary)

current version (shoot from golden castle)

    • After a month, I am posting my game 3rd time on reddit. This is not a repost, my each post is made from scratch.

    MMORPGs/ARPGs like Zenonia S?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 06:08 PM PDT

Looking for online mmorpg style games or online rpgs with a community aspect. I don't really know what happened to Zenonia S but its not around anymore it seems. I want a nice sense of progression, something action oriented, can use controllers, etc. Can be 2D or 3D.

    I've tried:

Guardian Tales: its basically perfect except there's no co-op play and I haven't found any hubs or areas where you can see other players aside from guild house. Also not super into the town management aspect of it. Something like it with a more multiplayer focus would be great.

Toram: overall good but just can't seem to hold my interest for very long.

Ragnarok M: Just started playing it but the combat is slow, at least early on.

Please share your suggestions and I'll try them out.

Clamp controller options for 10.1 inch tablets (Amazon Fire)

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 08:21 AM PDT

I currently use the following controller for my 10.1 tablet:

    https://www.amazon.com/PG-9083S-Wireless4-0-Wireless-Controller-Compatible/dp/B07S81C5LX/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=ipega+9083&qid=1599491732&s=books&sr=1-1

No complaints really. For the price it does exactly what I need it to do. Just wondering if there are better quality options out there. Maybe something a little more tailor-made for a 10.1. Something Fire-specific would be even better. One that provides access to all of the ports, volume controls, headphones, etc. I see stuff like https://gamevice.com/ and I think Fire's are a popular enough cheap gaming device to warrant a specific controller option.

    Thanks.

What is your favourite Game Dev game and what features is it missing?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 06:33 AM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I'm a developer and I'm currently working on a little side project to try out a new game engine.
I want it to be a Game Dev Sim like Game Dev Tycoon/Game Dev Story/Mad Games Tycoon etc..

But while some games like that keep it rather simple (like Game Dev Story or Game Dev Tycoon) others are trying to take a completely different spin on the gerne (like Mad Games Tycoon or Software Inc).

So as a start, I'd like to take one game like that and use it as a "raw template" to expand on it.

    With that in mind:

    • What is your favourite Game Dev game?
    • What feature would you love to see in your favourite Game Dev game?

Any games that are like Skyline Skaters?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 07:14 AM PDT

I just remembered about this game after years and it looks like it no longer exists in the play store. I know there's temple run and subway surfers but those are different in the sense where you need to navigate your character left and right and such.

Skyline Skaters was a simple tap to jump and it was always in the same direction, I guess an endless runner type game.

Anyway, does anything similar with similar graphics exist?

Looking for a game like dawn of man, which isn't P2P. The closest I could find was total war battles kingdom by Sega.

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 02:42 AM PDT

It must be set in mediaeval period or before.

Plus point for farming, fishing, animal husbandry and war.

    Build a kingdom.

Looking to find this game again!

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 10:50 AM PDT

I it's a puzzle game where you have strips of different color fabric on either side of a square. There is a pattern you need to recreate with the colors by choosing which color will roll first and cover the line of the square, then get covered by other colors by dragging on top.

Shellfire is actually a pretty solid game

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 03:10 AM PDT

After spending some time searching for a good Overwatch clone I found Shellfire and it is actually pretty decent. I just wanted to give it a shoutout because I'm really impressed with it. It has some wonky things like poor English grammar and the micro transaction currency is listed in a foreign dollar but besides that it is quite fun. Definitely worth checking out if you're searching for a mobile hero shooter :)

Looking for a simple game like "Bouncy Hoops"

    Posted: 06 Sep 2020 10:19 PM PDT

Hey, I'm looking for another game like Bouncy Hoops by Noodlecake studio

Basically a simple game that I can play while listening to a podcast or zoom class.

So no text that I would HAVE to read and no decisions to make. Just a simple clicker type repetitive game.

Arcade-style would be the right description.

    Thank you in advance
