| Posted: 19 Aug 2020 01:11 PM PDT I have just been looking through my text (SMS) messages and some conversations have disappeared... there were messages in these threads within the past month, I've searched on my google and Samsung account but can't find how to search for them. The phone has undergone (device) one update since I last accessed the thread and nothing else, last time I checked the messages dating back to late last year were still there. It seems like one conversation dating back to December has completely gone with no trace.. Any advice or help? [link] [comments] |

| Is it me or does the Android keyboard just suck? Posted: 19 Aug 2020 12:46 PM PDT I have so much trouble typing with my Google Pixel 3a phone. The "e" key is especially illusive for some reason and often doesn't actually print to screen even though I press it. I've tried resizing the keyboard, add haptec, audible presses but I still happens. Anyone else? [link] [comments] |
| Are there any other launchers that have a pull-up dock like Microsoft Launcher? Posted: 18 Aug 2020 08:12 PM PDT Microsoft Launcher lets me have 3 rows of apps/folders when I pull the dock up. It shows the top row of apps when the dock is closed (there's a small gray line and the apps above that arent part of the dock). Are there any other launchers with this functionality? If so, please try to send a tutorial of how to set up the dock (text or video tutorial would be great). I'm new-ish to Android. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 19 Aug 2020 12:37 PM PDT I have a Google Pixel XL rooted and running stock Android 10 and sometimes suddenly whatever I am doing will crash or it will repeatedly say that google services framework or phone or something has crashed over and over and over again. Then either I restart my phone or it says "shutting down" for around half a screen and my phone restarts saying "Can't load Android System. Your data may be corrupt" If I restart from there android starts fine and I will be logged out of Instagram or some other app after and I have to log back in. I have absolutely no idea why this keeps happening. I am assuming some sort of filesystem issue or something. EDIT: I left out that also if I try to take a screenshot while this is happening it fails saying not enough storage available and if I try to read a manga chapter in Tachiyomi it says it either couldn't write or delete or read some cache file. Posted: 19 Aug 2020 08:48 AM PDT So, the TL;DR is that I need one for one specific use: I need a pdf reader for my tabletop RPG books that is about the size of an actual book. Dead tree is my preferred way to go, but it would be nice to have a big screen with searchable pdf files to have as a bonus, and to not lug around 5+ books at any given time. I've tried 10" tablets for this, but it was honestly a miserable experience that was more frustrating than just using a book, so I thought that having something with the approximate physical dimensions as the page of the book would be much more fun as you don't have to zoom and drag around. chunks of a page for text to be readable. Keep in mind that I don't need the newest, freshest device for this. Anything that's above Android 7.0 is fair game as it's only for eBooks. Something about the size of an iPad pro would be wonderful, but I'm just not willing to pay $1100 for an ebook reader. [link] [comments] |
| Data works for calls and texts, however connecting to the internet at all doesn't work Posted: 19 Aug 2020 12:31 PM PDT So For the past few weeks my phone hasn't been able to connect to the internet through data. 0mb used, no connection at all to the internet despite having bars. I can call and text just fine, but internet connection is a no go unless I'm on a Wi-Fi connection. Rebooting Several Times disconnecting data and reconnecting Checking APN settings It's that last one that has me stumped. Through my calls with support they've asked me to set a new APN, however I can't do that. It WILL give me the option to add an APN, and even let me fill in the APN field, but if I try to save it with the APN they suggested, then I get the error "The Name field can't be empty." and can't continue. I have no idea how to fix this, even thoguh I've narrowed it down(I think) to an APN issue. If anyone has any other suggestions however, I'm all ears. I have an Oppo A9 2020 in the UK that can't get the update to Android 10 (coloros 7). No matter what I do its just stuck and won't detect, I should have had it by the end of July according to customer support. Called customer support and everything and just nope. It won't show up even though I've provided IMEI and other details for them to pass to engineering. Out of desperation I've posted in r/Oppo and they pointed me to the Indian customer support website where lo and behold the update is available to download. Now, I have the zip for the update on my device and it detects as a valid update. But...since it's from the Indian website, is this safe to install on my phone? I don't want to brick it or anything or run into any other issues. I know I'll probably be told to wait for the official update, but since I should have had it I don't think I should wait longer. | Issues with deleting pictures in gallery Posted: 19 Aug 2020 11:22 AM PDT My colleagues have brand new Samsung A51 and A71 devices and strange thing occurs when they receive photos on Whatsapp and Viber apps. If another person who sent those photos deletes them ( in their respective chats there's option "delete photo for all participants") then those same photos are deleted from the gallery too. There's no difference if the pictures were previously automatically saved by the app into gallery or if they had chosen to save them into gallery manually. How's that possible? I'm not much familiar with the latest Android/Samsung tech (Apple user here) and I'm asking because my colleagues don't speak English. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |

Is there a way to get the lockscreen to update along with the wallpaper? | Tool to check how many Bluetooth devices can receive audio at once? Posted: 19 Aug 2020 11:21 AM PDT So, I love TWS Bluetooth headphones as a concept, I love love love it. Sadly the models from mid sized brands tend to unpair eventually. No personal experience with the major brands. I could go for a budget tws pair from motorola or skullcandy right now but my past experience /reviews are holding me back. This is an issue even with the big players according to customer reviews. This could be sorted with something like dual audio from Samsung or sticking to a phone from tcl 10 line which support up to 4 Bluetooth receivers to be active at once. Is there anywhere I could check this information for any phone?. I'm starting a search for a new phone and this is quite an important aspect. | I think I bricked my phone's network settings. Posted: 19 Aug 2020 10:31 AM PDT Disclaimer: I have no idea about android or anything related to it. I already tried all the other options (reboot, network settings, etc). I uninstalled Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit because I was afraid that our government might be spying on me. And I installed apps from F-Droid because a YouTube video from The Hated One said it is safe to install apps from there. And then I installed various VPNs as well, like Orbot, TrackerControl and NetGuard. After a few days, I saw on TV that my network provider was fixing their cell site and was later on repaired. My phone's network was out for a little while but after the network maintenance it was back on. After a few more days, I started noticing that my phone has been losing its mobile network after I use mobile data. Days after that, its completely gone. I took my phone to a lot of repairman and they fixed it, but the problem keeps on returning. I kept on doing it but it just reverts again and again. Please help me. I have nowhere else to go. Posted: 19 Aug 2020 06:27 AM PDT As the title says, I want to block certain apps like Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard (even though their privacy policy says that data is local if I am not signed in) and many other apps from accessing the internet, but I already have a VPN setup which doesn't provide split tunneling functionality. Is there a way I can block apps (all, including system) without installing Netscape and taking up my VPN profile? I mean I cannot run 2 VPN profiles (can I?) so I am stuck. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 19 Aug 2020 09:16 AM PDT So back in 2011 I got my first Android phone and got hopelessly addicted to Tower Raiders 2 GOLD. I've tried many other Tower Defense games but none of them have as satisfying a gameplay loop. Tower Raiders 2 was made for Android 2 and worked just fine up to I think Android 4.0 or 4.2, I know that starting in Android 4.4 for sure you can no longer save your game. The company that made Tower Raiders 2 called Ginormous Games went out of business and pulled all of their apps off the Play Store years ago. So there is zero chance of it being updated. Android emulators have got very slick over the years but for some reason I don't understand none of them offer savestates. With console emulators you can just load a savestate thus rending the in game save function unnecessary. I have tried running really old Android emulators from 5+ years ago but all of them have series issues making it a less then optimal solution. Anyone have any ideas on this? [link] [comments] |
