Verification codes like instagram, facebook, playstation, google and stuff like that. And about 2 ads.

(All of the activities in the messeges are mine, i requested them. But depending on what the messege is, its from a diffrent sender.)

Can one number send messeges from multiple accounts? And if so why is it calling me?

    Thanks in advance

    Considering switching to Android

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 08:13 AM PDT

I've been an iPhone user since the iPhone 5 but I did have a Samsung Galaxy S4 before that.

Currently I'm using an iPhone XS and I'm highly considering getting the upcoming Samsung Note 20. I'm kinda getting bored of iOS and Apple's rumoured hardware line-up this year is also kinda lacklustre imo (no 120Hz 🙁). The only reason I haven't thought of switching earlier was because of Apple's ecosystem. Everything just works like universal copy and paste and handoff.

What's people experience like transitioning from iOS to android? I've heard it's a pain to transfer photos and messages as mine are all synced to iCloud.

I'm getting messages that my Samsung Cloud is going to be deleted. I don't actively use Samsung cloud, although it claims to have a "backup" of 4.4 GB. Should I be concerned? GS9

{HELP} My Samsung GalaxyS6 is not allowing the wifi to be turned on, the option is grayed out

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:31 AM PDT

(I posted this in the galaxys6 sub as well I thought I would put it here too)

So I just bought my friends old phone, and this problem occurred roughly one or two days after I started it up. It started off as a small problem, the wifi would randomly shut off and I could turn it back on within a couple of minutes but then it escalated into hours or even a full day.

My friend says that she did not have a problem with this at all when using it, and also triple checked everything was working properly before factory resetting the phone right before giving it to me. We have tried everything to get it to fix, factory reset, safe mode, restarting the phone in every possible way, clearing the partition data, rebooting the wifi etc.

Im also pretty sure that this is a problem with the phone and not the wifi

A couple things to note/ that ive noticed

    • The wifi option in settings will be grayed out when this problem occurs, or I will go to turn it on and then it will turn grey and be stuck in a loading loop saying "turning on"
    • The wifi will sometimes turn back on if I restart, turn off the phone or, sometimes If I just leave it alone for a few hours
    • The wifi will only turn off if the screen goes black, so if I take a call or put the phone on sleep. It doesn't randomly shut off while I use the it.
    • It has seemed to get a little better after I did another factory reset, the wifi stayed on for about 5 hours which is the longest its been since the problem started.

If anyone can help me with this that would be really great :) I will gladly give more details if needed

Get location from android watch via Internet data or Sim card location

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:25 AM PDT

Long story short; My daughter got lost at the age of 6 and we (our family) were frustrated and scared, until she was found by the police. Thankfully she wasn't gone for more than a couple of hours or hurt, but that is scary in it self for us parents and I can only imagine how it would have been for my child.

Therefore, I just bought a android watch for my 10 year old daughter (a cheap one from China, since I read it had all the necessary specifications) where there is a imei number on the inside of the battery but no device number, neither is there a device number on the case when I bought it (through Amazon). There is a slot for a mini sim card which I also inserted (a prepaid card with Internet connection) and a micro sd card, also inserted.

The android "smart watch" has a couple of pre installed apps, such as what's app, voice recorder ect. (no tracking apps tho) and have no play store app, so I can't install any further apps on it.

I've tried numerous apps from my phone where I've tried to locate the watch but none of them seems to work, some require device ID which I don't have, some require the watch to install an app which isn't possible, the ones I've tried adding the imei number and phone number to track the device, can't connect to it somehow.

So my question goes on, if it's possible to track the watchs location in a other way either via GPS which it seems to have or Internet data which the som card have.

I would rather have it tracking via the sim card as I always know it's connected abs have unlimited Internet data.

I've tried reading the side rules on this sub, so I really hope I'm at the right place, if not I'm first of sorry in advance and would appreciate a little help on where else to submit.

    Please help me.

    Thanks in advance

Wired vs wireless charging (long term durability)?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:22 AM PDT

    Hey all,

So I'm on my fifth android phone. I've had from Samsungs to cheap Chinese to more premium Chinese.

However, the problem with my old phones (and my present as well) is that the charging port starts failing a few years in. I've had it happen with micro USB and USB C as well. This is really frustrating, I've clean and blown and wiggled, but even my present phone is start to only charge on it's original charger (no problems before with other chargers), and with the cable in a specific position 🤦🏻‍♂️

I was thinking about getting a phone with wireless charging for the next one, but I'm not sure if it's durable on the long run.

    Any insights into this?

    Thanks!

Anyway to extract list of learned words from gboard?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 10:59 AM PDT

It is super easy to delete these words - I know how to do that and that isn't what I want. I want to know if there is a way -rooted or not - to view the file(s) that contain(s) the list of every learned word that my device has learned from me typing. Or maybe there is an app that can generate that list. Does it exist in the surface file system or does it require root access? Any help would be appreciated, even if to let me know that it is legitimately impossible.

Hotspot 2.4ghz to 5ghz dimmed out?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 10:51 AM PDT

I use an LG Stylo 5 with Sprint. I'm trying to give myself some faster speed on my hotspot by turning it on to the 5ghz setting. The issue I'm experiencing is that the option to do so is dimmed out? No way to click on it and change it, like its stuck on 2.4ghz and thats all I am able to use.

Does anyone know if there is something internally I need to change in the phones settings? And yes, I've turned off the data saver mode.

    Thanks!

Help: I installed a new Rom on my phone and now it only shows 16Gb instead of 64

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 10:07 AM PDT

I have a Galaxy A40 with android 10 installed out of the box. The system UI kept crashing for 6 months straight to the point that i went and bought and cheap android phone because it was unusable in that state. I sent it to a friend so that he installs a new Rom in it (which solved the original problem) but now it just shows 16Gb instead of 64. Is there a way to solve this problem without reinstalling the system all over again?

    Deleting All Downloaded TikTok Videos

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 10:00 AM PDT

I'm looking for a way to delete all the videos I have downloaded on TikTok. I impulsively save any video that I find funny and I have amassed a huge collection. They are saved in the same folder as camera photos and videos so it's not a simple folder delete. The names seem to be somewhat random characters so hopefully this could be used to my advantage, as I would like to keep all of my personal photos and videos. As far as I'm aware, there's no setting within the app to delete them. Maybe metadata could help? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you :)

Adblock help to removed blocked ads text

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:56 AM PDT

I am happy with the adblock setup I have but the annoying thing on Android is the garbage text in the ad frame after the ad is blocked.

Misc apps I use for news get the ads blocked but the articles have multiple frames where I get to enjoy the "Webpage not available" then long urls fill the frame

Anyone know of an app that removes those blocked frames full of url crapp?

Is there a way to make my phone not "see" certain devices on the same WiFi network?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:46 AM PDT

I share WiFi with my landlords upstairs, and their son has Chromecast or something on his TV. I listen to a lot of YouTube lectures and talks on my phone when I'm cleaning, cooking, etc., and the app requires the screen to be unlocked for this, otherwise it pauses the video.

A few times recently, I've managed to accidentally start casting these videos to the landlord's son's TV, which is annoying to both of us since I lose the audio and he isn't interested in whatever lecture I was listening to.

The simple solution would be to block/hide his TV on my phone, but I can't seem to find a way to do that. Can anyone help?

    (I have a Motorola G6 Play if that's relevant.)

Search on context menu defaults to Bing

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:38 AM PDT

    Hey there,

I recently noticed that the context menu on my phone (the menu that pops up when you highlight text) now defaults to Bing for a web search of the highlighted text.

The only Microsoft apps I have installed as far as I can tell are Outlook and SwiftKey keyboard and SwiftKey Beta. I've gone through the settings in those apps and haven't found anything that looks like it would change my default search or anything.

I've also checked default search on the Chrome app but that is set to Google.

    Any ideas?

Xiaomi Mi A2 stuck on "Android Recovery" and on fastboot. Any way to recover the data?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 01:37 AM PDT

Hi there. My Xiaomi Mi A2, which was at almost full storage capacity, decided it was a good idea to download a new android version and reboot itself without asking.

As usually happens when you try to do critical updates to the operating system and there's no space available, the installation broke and now the phone just shows this:

Android Recovery xiaomi/jasmine/jasmine_sprout 10/QKQ1.190910.002/V11.0.10.0.QDIMIXM user/release-keys use volume up/down and power. Cannot load android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you may need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device.

    Image: https://imgur.com/g1EijJa

Based on other thread (this one) I select "try again" by pressing power, then when the screen goes black I hit "volume down + power" and it loads fastboot, but just stays there, no options available. (image: https://imgur.com/RGNs5tm)

My goal is to retrieve my personal info from the phone. I already have another phone running, and I don't care about this device that much, but I would really like to retrieve my photographs and videos from the storage. Even if it means disassembling the device.

I've just learnt about the adb tool, is the next thing I will try, but I have no experience with that, so any pointers would be helpful.

I've read elsewhere that the Mi A2 encrypts user data and the encryption keys are irrecoverable. If so, it's really bad design to let the phone update the O.S. on its own without checking for enough available storage space, then only allowing me the option of resetting to factory. I really hope there's a way out of this.

    Thanks in advance,
