How to force immersive mode for only landscape mode (Google Chrome)

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 08:25 AM PDT

My videos on Google Chrome has constantly been giving me a navigation bar so I was wondering if I could turn that off only for landscape. The immersive.navigation adb disables the navigation bar all the time, including portrait mode which isn't what I particularly want. XDA's navigation hide bar app sort of works, but it still leaves an area for the navigation bar on landscape and is kind of cumbersome to enable and disable every time.

rm -rf --no-preserve-root / , runned as root in termux.

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 10:26 AM PDT

In case of something sorry for posting this to the wrong subreddit.

Just asking if someone knows what would be removed besides the os itself on a smartphone (bootloader and etc.) in case this command would be runned as root in termux, and is it possible to retrieve the functionality of a smartphone after this command would be runned.

I just love linux and had this question for a long time, with termux i saw that there were a lot of directories besides the standard ones for a linux system, maybe some of them are part of the bootloader or other crucial parts of the phone.

Anyone using a Custom Rom on LG V20 & V30 with Root or at least GCAM with or without Root?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 10:35 AM PDT

So I have a T-mobile LG V20 H918 & H930 that are both still on stock 7.0 Android nougat. I'm trying but to decide if I should root and put a custom Rom on them or at least do GCAM while updating them to the latest Stock ROM? I don't really do much but use them for the usual call, text & pictures.

I do do lots of multi tasking tho and need good battery life with speed/performance. I also like most of the stock things that LG offers such as IR remote on the V20, Second Screen & Floating window on V30. I also use the LG Screen writing stuff and other goodies quite a bit. Question is do I do anything or upgrade to all stock? Please give me your best suggestions? My LG V30 is used in good condition and V20 is mint in box use it maybe once a month or so?

How to turn on notification vibrations for all Alerting notifications at once, in Android 10

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 10:06 AM PDT

Title basically. In the Accessibility menu, under Vibration and haptic strength heading, I have notification vibrations set to on, but by default Android doesn't turn on vibrations for all the Alerting type notifications. I have the option to go into the notification settings of a particular app and personalise it for each notification channel, but is there a way I can turn all of them on at once, for the ones with type set to Alerting?

My Newly bought phone already has a Malware / Virus

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 09:48 AM PDT

My Phone ( Vivo v3ma ) is experiencing some issues. From my own assumption ( based on little experience in tech at all ) , my phones has a Virus or malware of some sort because it pop-ups a very adult ad, it automatically opens up an unknown Chinese browser link, a suspicious looking Facebook Icon popping up in my screen sometimes, and a scam notification that says "Wow! That's great news! Login to receive a gift". This weirder part of this notification is that, it has the icon of Facebook and when you click on it, it tries to log in my Facebook account. The weird this is, The Facebook app is really suspicious in my phone. Normally, you would download this in the App Store but when I got it, It's already there. I tried deleting the Facebook app but the things is, it doesn't allow me to uninstall the app. I tried using the built-in anti-virus software of the phone but it says the phone is safe. I tried looking for some malicious things in the File manager, the only suspicious thing I found is "com.android.easy.filemanager" ... it seemed suspicious to me because I saw many folders of it. So tried to delete it but it keeps coming back. A Chinese phone already seemed suspicious to me but I'm not sure.

I haven't installed any malicious apps so far or visited any scummy sites but I'll list my installed apps on the phone it would help:

    • Twitter
    • Reddit
    • Youtube
    • Messenger
    • Instagram
    • One Punch Man ( a game )
    • Tachiyomi ( a comic/ manga reading app )

    P.S. I can provide as much information as I can, but not everything;

    Question... are Chinese phones trustworthy?

How do I get into my phone if my kid somehow reset the pin?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 08:52 AM PDT

We have an old Samsung duos phone we used while traveling abroad in Costa Rica. It currently has no service here in the US, but we set it up with google hangouts so that our kids can use it as a landline to call us when we are out and about. Well, I went to set it up today and it asked for a pin, which I dont remember setting up. Ive tried all my normal pins and none of them work. Last time I tried to enter a pin it locked me out for 5 minutes. This phone does have my google account linked to it (I think) and also has some pictures from our vacation on it that I dont want to lose. What should I do?

What is the difference between these two versions of a game Pubg Mobile? 13905 arm64-v8a Android 10+ nodpi 13900 arm-v7a

Is it really that 64bit is faster and smoother than 32bit? Have anyone really tried it?

    Samsung Dex Battery Concerns/Questions?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 11:29 AM PDT

New Samsung S20+ user here. I recently discovered you can use Samsung Dex with only a USB cable (no HDMI). Since this discovery, I've been using Dex at my home PC and my work PC resulting in my phone being plugged in minimum 11+ hours a day. I'm concerned with the phone's battery life since it will be constantly charging while being used as well as being basically at 100% all day.

Besides using an HDMI to USB-C, is there a way I can use Dex without charging my phone? In general with my use, should I have any concerns with my battery life and its longevity?

My typical charging habits is I start charging between 20%-30%, stop charging around 85%-95%. I never usually let my phones hit 0% nor 100% minus the rare overnight charge.

What am I doing wrong; GMail notifications do not respect Do Not Disturb settings in Android 10?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 01:23 AM PDT

Does GMail count as a "messaging app" for purposes of overriding DND settings? As seen in the image below I've enabled calls and messages from everyone, turned off sounds for all notifications and only given override exception status to one app, which is not GMail. However when I received an email today morning, I heard the notification sound in addition to the visual notification.

Can someone explain why this is happening? Thanks!

How to prevent *EXTRA* home screen being created when installing an app?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 08:12 AM PDT

I intentionally have the "add app to home screen" turned on every time I install an app, this is what I want.

What I don't want is an EXTRA/new home screen being added, when my other home screen has more than enough room to accommodate more app icons. Is there a way to prevent it from creating that extra new home screen page and just insert it into a page that has room?

As it stands, every time I install a new app I have to move the app icon to a different page and then delete the newly created page 🤦🏻‍♀️

And I do not believe this is device specific. It's doing this on my current device Galaxy Ultra, plus my last 4 devices that are Galaxy also. My Ultra is my first unlocked device, the others were Tmobile.

    Split screen for Wiko?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 08:04 AM PDT

Hi, this is my first time with a Wiko and I can't figure certain things out, split screen is one of those things. The overview button in my navigation bar doesn't split in half when I "long-press" it. When I press the overview button it obviously shows me apps that are open, but not in the way I'm used to. Instead of the app pages being stacked on each other, they are side-by-side. My settings doesn't seem to show any options to change/fix this.

How do I activate split screen? (I'll post extra info in the comments)

    Streaming with internal audio

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 08:01 AM PDT

I hope im in the correct subreddit for this. Im currently using a huawei mate 20 x to stream my gameplay, using scrcpy to mirror to the PC, and the audio jack to input audio to streamlabs.

I am planning to switch to the new Samsung Tab S7 plus once it releases, the problem is that it does not have an audio jack. I did find a work around by using a Bluetooth audio receiver, however there is a noticeable delay. Almost half a second. In streamlabs, this isn't a big issue since I can add delay to the video to sync with the audio. But in real life, I will be hearing my gameplay half a second slower.

Right now I am all out of ideas, miracast does not work on my pc too for whatever the reason. Im not sure if a HDMI to PC will work as I have never own that adapter.

Galaxy S7 automatically rebooting periodically, just rebooted into safe mode.

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 07:54 AM PDT

Basically the title, I have noticed that over the last several months, my phone will seemingly randomly show the "unlocking" screen that occurs on boot after entering my password, even though there was no input from me. The most recent time this happened, it started up in Safe Mode, which has never happened before. Does anyone know what this means, and is it safe to disable safe mode?

Images I download through Google Chrome don't appear in the gallery

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 07:49 AM PDT

    Hey guys.

    I need your help please.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e and I recently updated it to the Android 10 version.

Since then, every time I download an image through the browser (Google Chrome) it does not appear in my gallery.

The pictures do appear when I entering to "downloads" in the browser, but when I try to open them through the gallery, I have an error icon.

The browser version is updated, as well as the gallery.

However, images that I download through the Reddit app for example, do appear in the gallery. Only of the browser no.

I would be happy if anyone can help me please..

    whatsapp sent images in gallery

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 06:13 AM PDT

Hi, I've got a Huawei P20 Lite, Android version 9.

I want to be able to view the images I've sent through whatsapp. there's an album of received whatsapp images, but not sent images. the files are on my phone and I'm able to acces them through the file manager, but I'd like them to be accesable through my gallery app as well. (in files it's always a long list, can't swipe through them, but need to always go back to view the next image, etc).

googling got me the tip to look for a .nomedia file and delete it. however, there was no such file. couldn't find any options to add this folder to "gallery" as an album, neither did I find any way in the gallery app to view files/albums of files already on the device but not recognised as an album yet.

does anyone here know if there's a way to do this, or should I just accept this annoying inconvenience?

Phones with a physical home button

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 06:36 PM PDT

Hi all, just wanting to know recommendations on android phones that have a physical home button? I know that the s7 is the last of the S series with them, but was wondering if there were any other brands out there (preferably not Chinese since they're getting a lot of flak at the moment). Thanks :)
