How to do a RecyclerView OnItemClickListener the right way? Posted: 21 Jul 2020 06:57 PM PDT I've seen people arguing on stack overflow on the right way to to this. Some say implement a click listener in onbindviewholder, other say create your own custom interface. I've come to you guys to ask how do you go about creating your click listeners? [Feedback] - I need feedback about an Adnetwork I have developed. Posted: 22 Jul 2020 03:06 AM PDT Hi guys 👋, for the past 7 months i have been working tirelessly to bring my startup idea to life. AppBoost is an ad-network that is developed to help developers promote their apps for free. It is very easy to use, with less than 7 lines of code, developers can boost traffic to their apps and monitor the statistics. The sdk is currently available for android apps developed using Java. My plan is to see if their is market for such a tool, then develop it for other platforms and languages too. Appboost drives traffic to apps through cross-promotion. Each developer that implements the sdk in his/her app gets their app promoted inside other developers apps and vice-versa. It is still in a super rough beta state. I have been busy with another project recently, but now am fully invested in AppBoost, and am interested in understanding if this tool is actually helpful and what direction I should take it in. I only want to create something if people really love it. The app stores are getting more and more saturated and competitive with thousands of apps being published everyday, Developers and Businesses with little to no budgets are finding it difficult to sustain their app businesses. AppBoost Aims to solve this problem by helping developers and businesses drive traffic to their apps and thereby increase their revenues. We aim to create a community of developers helping each other succeed in these tough times. Would love to hear your feedback. Thanks for reading this 🙏 Sharif. [link] [comments]
How much has the Android Architecture changed since 2007? Posted: 22 Jul 2020 05:10 AM PDT I have started seeing some Google I/O videos on Android from 2008. What has been totally changed in the Android Software stack and what are the major changes that has affected application developers? I know that developing apps for Android has widened from Java to Kotlin, Xamarin, Flutter, ReactNative, PhoneGap and some JNI C/C++. I am basically an embedded engineer, although I have some prior experience in Java and web apps. Can someone summarise the changes from 2007 to 2020?Android Platform Architecture [link] [comments]

What happened to the "Stylized" tag on google play? Posted: 22 Jul 2020 05:14 AM PDT I can find hundreds of games using the "Stylized" tag, such as Viridi, Alto's Odyssey, Fishing Life, etc. Any idea why that is or if there's any solution to this problem? [link] [comments]
Double the review process, half of the fun (beta channel) Posted: 22 Jul 2020 02:47 AM PDT For a while now, the review process on the Play store has been slower, and we are greeted on the console with the following message: "We're experiencing longer than usual review times" Because of the current context, that is totally fair. But what I have seen as well is that if you are using the beta channel to publish your app, then your app gets reviewed twice: once when you create your beta release, and once when you promote your beta build to prod. Is it a new development or has it always been the case? [link] [comments]

Interstitial video ads and the new Google Play's July policy update Posted: 21 Jul 2020 09:05 PM PDT Hi Everyone, Recently, Google Play updated its policy regarding the ads. As per https://youtu.be/d0bN5JYuowY?t=433 , there is a time restriction on a few kinds of ads. Is this time restriction affects the interstitial video ads? [link] [comments]
Android Notifications reliability and flaws Posted: 22 Jul 2020 08:13 AM PDT Hello. I have a problem in sending notifications to my app. I have successfully implemented fcm in my app and I am able to receive notifications. Implementation is via extending "FirebaseMessagingService" and calling it with an implicit intent in my manifest. In my fcm body I set the high priority flag too. My tesphone is a Samsung device. The app is an exception in the energy options. Here is my problem. FCM -> Foreground -> App receives notification FCM -> Background -> App receives notification FCM -> App killed -> App doesnt receive notification FCM Console -> Foreground / Background / App killed -> receives notification Why "FCM Console" have 100% reliability in sending notifications? Is it right that "FCM Console" doesnt use my implemented service? Sometimes it happens that the app is still in background and messages aren´t delivered. Other times the app is offline, I send a notification a few hours before, I went online and none are delivered. My app should be able to receive notifications no matter if it is closed, opend or killed. I need 100% reliability and precision. Does certain messengers use a different approach? Whould an update to Firebase HTTP v1 solve my issues? Is JobScheduler in combination with saved notifications on my backendserver an option? Seriously, I dont know how to do it. I read so many articles. What is the best way to achive it? Preferably no third party services. Thanks for your help and attention in advance. [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Jul 2020 08:09 AM PDT Hey guys, I've always been interested in app development however my real passion comes from design & art. Currently studying Architecture at University and finished a Creative Art & Design course at college has taught me the importance of good design. And personally found that many apps are overlooked or scrolled past due to their poor design. I would love to work with any app developers here who are in need of a designer. I've worked with a few other companies (not app related) in the past however working with a startup/app which is in the development process would really benefit us both. Examples of my work can be seen here: https://www.reddit.com/user/_harry_lane/comments/hgxpqx/artwork_examples/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x Let me know if you are interested in working together and I'm happy to chat over PM. Entry level positions during COVID-19? Posted: 21 Jul 2020 04:16 PM PDT Hi everyone. Any insight is much appreciated! I've been practicing and applying for entry level Android Developer positions on/off for about two and a half years without any offers, and as tortuous as it has been, I've been continuing to practice, make apps, and Leetcode as often as I can. I was furloughed from my service job at the beginning of the COVID shut down, and it has given me a lot of time I would not otherwise have to code. Now, I'm applying to jobs, practicing Leetcode, and working on my new project at all waking hours. However, I've been told by a few companies (some FAANG) that they currently have a freeze on hiring entry level positions. I already have had difficulty locating junior positions, and am very unwillingly preparing myself to go back into my restaurant service job any day now. I've also been reaching out to recruiters and companies that don't necessarily have listed open positions. Can anyone within the industry give me any insight and/or advice on how to navigate entry level positions during this time? I'm also slightly restricted to the West Coast for my son, which I understand doesn't help the matter. For reference, I do not have a CS degree. I have a Udacity Android Nanodegree, two published (albeit not well marketed) apps, and I'm at a point of desperation that I'd be willing to take any amount of pay to just get my foot in the door. AndroidStudio - Vertical Screen Setup Posted: 22 Jul 2020 02:01 AM PDT It's so hard to search the subject as all I get is results for Portrait mode in an Android app. I use a dual screen setup for Android development with one of the screens rotated vertically. I usually have the Project and Logcat windows in the horizontal screen and the code in the vertical. I was wondering if you guys have any recommendation on how to position the windows or if there's any default configuration in AndroidStudio for such setups. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Jul 2020 03:09 AM PDT June 19, 2020, I've received a notification alert from AdMob telling me that : Ad serving is limited The number of ads you can show has been limited.
Ad serving on your account is currently being limited due to invalid traffic concerns. We'll automatically review and update this limit as we continue to monitor your traffic.
Make sure you understand your ad traffic and app visitors. Never click on your own ads, and avoid partnering with untrusted or low-quality parties. While this ad serving limit typically impacts publishers for less than 30 days, it may take longer in some cases. It's been now a 34 days passed since this issue happened, my revenue dropped 98% off, my apps published only on Google Play so the traffic comes from there, also my apps are just a Photo Editor apps, no spam or prank apps. I didn't promote my apps on social media such as Facebook or Instagram as well as I never click on my ads. A week ago, I've switched to FAN, it's not like AdMob on the revenue side, but I don't care, since FAN respect the publishers, and they respond if we contact them. [link] [comments]
