Any developers having issues with their apps getting killed on OnePlus phones? Posted: 03 Jul 2020 04:22 PM PDT Hi guys. I'm an editor at Android Police. I'm working on a story regarding background app issues on OnePlus devices, and I'm looking for some anecdotes and technical details from developers that may have run into issues with the overly aggressive background app management present on OnePlus phones. Anecdotally, I think even some consumers know know it's an issue on OnePlus devices because of things like delayed notifications, but I've spoken to a handful of app developers that claim Oxygen OS's aggressive background app management doesn't just result in issues with their apps working correctly (as they do on other Android devices), but also extra support overhead: A disproportionately larger number of support tickets come from customers with OnePlus phones. OnePlus previously said they'd do something to fix aggressive background app killing, but according to the developers I have already spoken to, our own experiences at Android Police with delayed notifications on OnePlus devices, and our tests with the new DontKillMyApp benchmark, they either haven't addressed the issue, or they've done too little to fix it. I am currently in contact with the company trying to get that to change, and I'm working on a story regarding the issue to increase that pressure. This post has been approved by the /r/androiddev mods, and I'd really like to hear any issues you may have run into as a developer when it comes to this problem. Feel free to reach out to me either here via PM or through any of my listed contact details including email at our site. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jul 2020 08:59 AM PDT I'm just an indie dev who doesn't have an internal secure VCS setup or anything. I just have my laptop. I need to be able to store my keystore in a secure way that lets my team can access it remotely. I mean if I have to buy into some enterprise-grade Github or Gitlab subscription service (even some web hosts offer private internal repos now, but I'm not sure how trustworthy the are) and that's the only way it has to be for it to be secure enough, so be it. I'm just curious what the best practice usually is. [link] [comments]

What's this called? It keeps disappearing. Posted: 04 Jul 2020 09:08 AM PDT I've got no idea what this feature is called. In Android Studio, normally when I hover over an error, a box pops up describing the error. Ever since I updated Android Studio, this box disappears after just a fraction of a second, making it useless. Does anyone know what this is called, or how to adjust how long the box lasts for in Android Studio? I looked all over the Settings but couldn't find anything. Thank you so much for your help! Any recommendations for an emulator for testing games? Posted: 04 Jul 2020 02:47 AM PDT I am developing for Android with Unity and would like to test the Google Play Service integration. It seems that uploading for internal test via the play console is taking some time, I was wondering if anyone has any good experience with an emulator to quickly test a build? Thanks [link] [comments]
How accurate are Play Console statistics? Posted: 04 Jul 2020 08:10 AM PDT Some of my friends installed my app and for some reason, the console doesn't register their installs at all. Is there a delay in statistics updates in the console? Or is this some bug that wasn't supposed to happen? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Jul 2020 02:35 AM PDT You are an android developer, which means that you can make any cool app or utilities you want without any barriers of privacy, regulations, limitations, etc. on your phone. so, share it with other developers. for instance, I personally have a simple app on my phone that shows new messages in a toast as soon as they are received, so I don't need to open the messages app or bring down the notification bar to know about the SMS or at least get an idea of what the message is about. :) #android #androiddev #androidclub [link] [comments] |
