Why did Google raise the requirements of Exposure Notification to Android 6?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 09:12 AM PDT

    Hey people

So I noticed that the components BluetoothLeScanner and BluetoothLeAdvertiser both require API level 21 (which is Android 5).

And indeed the exposure notification was also requiring Android version 5.0 and API level 21: [PDF] Android Exposure Notification API documentation v1.2

But now the documentation on the webpage and in [PDF] Android Exposure Notification API documentation v1.3.2 says it needs Android 6 and API level 23.

Does anyone know why they raised the requirements there? I'm super curious what issue they were having and I am not finding anything with random googeling.

Latest chrome update (v86) removes the last force dark mode for websites flag on android

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 12:31 AM PDT

Chrome v86 removed the "android web contents dark mode" flag. They had already removed the "darken webpages toggle is themes" flag in v84 and this was the only remaining way to get dark theme on websites on chrome. Now there's no way to darken webpages on chrome on android since it doesn't support extensions. I guess I'll be moving to either firefox or kiwi
