    Edge not opening downloads

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 05:13 AM PDT

Hi, I'm using Microsoft edge as my browser.

Recently it stopped opening downloads. It shows me them, but won't open them - whether they're documents, images, .apks etc...
It shows me them in downloads, but clicking on them does nothing.

    Any ideas?

Why can't I move all apps to the SD card?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 11:23 AM PDT

    Hi.

A relative has an Android phone that's low on internal storage space. There's plenty of free space on the Micro SD Card. However, there's only a few apps that I could move to the SD card - Telegram, Lite, etc. Why can't the other apps be moved to the SD card? Is there a workaround?

    Thanks.

    YouTube captions always on?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 02:52 AM PDT

Over the last few days I've noticed that the YouTube app on my OP7T has defaulted to using the auto-generated captions on videos. Is there a way to disable this? My settings are set to captions off but videos still default to use them.

    About ROMs with GApps included.

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 02:33 AM PDT

Reposting this from r/Android because it was removed for some unclear reason.

Does each developer include the GApps he/she/they like or is there a standard like maybe Nano or Pico included for every ROM. Also if I would like to flash my own choice of GApps is there a way to remove the included one and flash mine? If so, how?

Is it normal for my new phone's battery to drain even though I'm not using it?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 03:55 PM PDT

A few weeks ago I bought a new phone.

The phone is alright and everything is running smoothly. But the only thing that raises my eyebrow is the fact that the battery gets drained even though I'm not using this.

Earlier today my phone was 97%, I went to bed and slept some 8 hours give or take, I checked my phone and it was 92%.

My friend told me that this was normal because even though I'm not using my phone, there are still apps and stuff in the background that are being run still why the phone is not turned off.

Is this true and is this normal behaviour for a new phone?

    Chrome keeps stopping. Send feedback.

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 11:08 AM PDT

    I have a samsung galaxy j5.

I keep getting this message whenever I try to open google chrome. When I click on send feed back another message comes up saying "Market feedback agent has stopped." I get similar messages when I try opening other apps like "google has stopped" "Upday has stopped" "Samsung notes has stopped". These messages even come up when I try opening clash royale.

I've reset my phone but it still keeps happening.

What can I do to fix this?

Apps Only Operate when manually Opened

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 11:00 AM PDT

I've a problem with my Galaxy J260 2018 model. A few days ago, it started killing background app aggressively. For example when listening to music on Musixmatch, opening WhatsApp will kill Musixmatch and vice versa until I manually reopen it. When I've a link which normally launches another app, it won't launch and I've to open another app to go back and reopen the one from which I wanted to launch another one. Say I've a media file sent to me and I click the file to play on MX player it won't launch and WhatsApp will shut down and won't launch until I manually open another and then go back to reopen WhatsApp. It's so frustrating. I've reset the phone twice in 2 days. Please help anyone who knows the solution.

Internet connection issue on Android 4.2.2

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 10:24 AM PDT

I've been having issues on my phone for some time now. When I try to access some websites, for example Wikipedia and DuckDuckGo, I get a pop-up message saying that there's a connection issue, that it's not possible to get a secure connection. The page says that the website is not available (it's the same page that would display when I try to access the Internet while my phone is not connected to any Internet network).

For some websites, there's a message saying that there is a problem with the website's security certificate, but I can close that pop-up and access the website.

But for most websites, I have no issue at all. Also, I can check my emails, use Google Maps, use the PlayStore, download new apps, etc. without any issue.

First, I thought that it was coming from the Internet network, so I've tried different WiFi networks, as well as my 3G network, but it doesn't matter. I still get these issues. I also tried other devices on these WiFi networks, and they don't have these issues. So it's coming from my phone.

Then, I thought that it was coming from the phone's browser. So I tried other browsers, but I still have these issues.

So it seems that there's something on my phone that prevents it from connecting to some websites. Is there something I can do?

Any way to remove this from keyboard?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 09:26 AM PDT

It just wastes screen space. Useless. It's there with gboard and swiftkey.

    See image below.

Im using swiftkey as default. Gboard prediction was miles behind Swiftkey.

Is there a way to fully disable the notification drop down screen?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 08:56 AM PDT

I just got my dad an android phone. After way too many years of having dumb phones, he wanted something to watch youtube on his free time. However, as he's a very clumsy person with technology, hes having trouble with the notification drop down screen and always disables wifi/data/bluetooth or enables flashlight by accident, or even flight mode. I was thinking if there is an app that disables this menu, so when he scrolls down from the notification bar nothing happens.

    Thank you in advance

"100GB+ System" in Settings - Adoptable storage bug?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 08:33 AM PDT

    Hi there!

I recently started using adoptable storage and it has been working amazingly and solved the space issues I had perfectly. However, I now experience a super weird bug where in the phone's own storage settings, the system is shown as being 102GB in size. Both the PC when connected to the phone as well as my file manager show the phone with the "correct" filled SD card of ~42GB. I'm pretty sure this is a visual bug, does anyone know how to make the device settings show the correct value as well? It's not really annoying, but if it can be fixed I would do it.

(I'm on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x with Android 7.0, SD card is a 128 GB San Disk Extreme SDXC)

Storage as shown in the Device settings

An update to a previous question about 'MMS not being sent to some contacts'

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 08:30 AM PDT

    Original post : https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/comments/gw5h0t/mms_not_being_sent_to_some_contacts/

So after some trial and error, I have figured out a common thread that photographs (picture files that were created with my phone camera) are not being sent but other image files seem to pass unencumbered. For example, if I take a screenshot of my phone screen or send a meme downloaded from reddit, the MMS seems to go through to any contact. However, if I take a picture of my dinner and try to send it to my contacts, it seems to not go through. It does not seem to matter if the picture is captured through the text messaging app or my camera app and then uploaded to the Text Messenger app.

Text-based MMS's do not seem unencumbered.

Because of this I think it might be a carrier problem? I'm not sure though because there should not be a difference between a camera image file and an image file downloaded from the internet.

Running Android 9 and using the Messages app. I did try some alternative Texting apps no difference (and that also leads me to believe it;s a carrier thing or a more fundamental issue with android 9)

"Do not disturb" not working properly after upgrade to pie

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 07:29 AM PDT

I upgraded my Huawei P10 to Pie yesterday and now "do not disturb" (which I have turned on by default) no longer suppresses notification sounds from (at least) WhatsApp, Messenger, and Skype, probably others as well. I do not understand why this is happening and it's driving me mental.

My do not disturb settings. As you can see, it's currently turned on and only allows priority interruptions (that list exclusively includes alarms and wechat so I don't miss messages from my partner).

As an example the WhatsApp notification settings (messenger is the same situation): notification settings and critical app alerts, where you can see that "allow interruptions" is turned off. This is true for all the different notification types. Yet if I get a message on WhatsApp my phone rings and vibrates when it shouldn't.

Does anyone have an idea what's causing this? I'm at a loss to be honest.

Changing default virtual assistant for bluetooth headphones

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 07:18 AM PDT

Hi, I've got an LG G6 and a pair of Enacfire E18plus Bluetooth headphones. I'm trying to set up a digital voice assistant to use with them, but rather than using Google Assistant (which is the default on my phone), when I hold the button on the headphone down for two seconds to launch the digital assistant, it always opens Alexa instead. I've tried restarting the phone and resetting the headphones but can't figure it out. Has anyone had a similar issue before?

    General connectivity issues

    Posted: 06 Jun 2020 06:36 AM PDT

    Hey folks!

I just picked up the Black Shark 3 after being generally disappointed for most of a year with the Razer Phone 2. I got the EU version (I guess?) and have been having general issues with the wireless.

Periodically, almost the entire suite of wireless connectivity just drops. My WearOS watch (Ticwatch Pro 2020) will disconnect, and the custom watchface I use via Watchfaces disappears. Wifi usually keeps working so I may not notice the drop right away, but if I'm on my phone's cellular connection, nothing goes through even though it shows signal and LTE. In my car on my way home from work this morning I was on the phone with my captain, and the bluetooth connection to my car started cutting in and out, to the point that I had to turn bluetooth off to finish the call. There was no issue up to that point, while driving and listening to Audible.

I am suspecting/hoping it was user error in setting the device up. I backed up my RP2 to Google Drive, because I didn't want to lose my apps/data (I was mostly hoping my Swype settings and game logins would transfer over, since Swype died and I'm being a luddite, and the games require the hassle of 'transfer IDs') and have my text messages transfer over easily. I think it also possibly transferred the core device stuff like cellular and bluetooth settings as well, though am not sure.

Turning airplane mode on and off seems to 'reset' things and it'll reconnect to stuff, for a while again at least. I noticed I am somehow still getting at least some push notifications on my watch even though it shows as disconnected. I am a firefighter, on AT&T's Firstnet, so am also not sure if maybe the Firstnet bands might be being finnicky with the BS3.

I also get the "Xiaomi SIM activation failed" alert every time I restart the phone, and sometimes after reboot the keyboard doesn't load. 😬 I get the feeling ill need to reflash again, but knowing where I went wrong first would help! Also curious if there is a stock Android ROM because this JoyUI seems a hassle, and I just don't want all the Xiaomi stuff.

Thanks ahead of time for any help and suggestions!
