    Smart YouTube TV slow?

    Posted: 04 May 2020 01:49 AM PDT

Anyone find this app has gotten slower at booting/loading videos lately? Even after updates, it's still not nearly as quick to load things as it used to be.

Chromecast alternative for Projector use with wireless audio

    Posted: 03 May 2020 03:49 PM PDT

I currently have a cabled setup with an HDMI cable from the AV Receiver to Projector. On the AV Receiver is the Chromecast and sometimes I connect my laptop to play one off DVD.

The whole cabling is not wife compliant, so I am looking for a wireless solution.

There are basically two distinct options.

    1. Brute force, with a Wireless HDMI Extender eg. PureLink CSW200, celexon WHD30M
    2. Lightweight, with Android TV or Chromecast connected the projector and Bluetooth audio transmission to the AV Receiver.

    My requirement:

    • Playing Movies from my Synology Disk Station
    • Watching Video Content via Video Apps (on iOS preferably). Most of the app I use support Chromecast
    • An Android Phone could be a backup option too. We have an old Huawei Mate9 in lying around

My current choices for Android TV are:

    1. Xiaomi MI Box S
    2. Minix NEO T5
    3. Raspberry Pi 4, not sure if there is something working out of the box.

On the AV- Receiver side I plan to use taotronics TT-BA014 to receive the signal.

Important for me is a device that has Bluetooth AptX HD or even AptX Low Latency for a minimal latency. An option on the box where I could delay the video by 0-1 sec would also be a big plus.

A fallback could also be to use two TT-BA014, one on the sender and one on the receiver side. But I want to keep the complexity low as well as the price. (2xTT-BA014 + Minix NEO T5 > PureLink CSW200)

So I am not sure what to choose.

    Disney+ Unable to Connect

    Posted: 03 May 2020 02:19 PM PDT

( Solved ) I have an older Nvidia Shield and I have been loving Disney+. I signed up with Verizon's free year offer.

But for the last three days I have been getting an error message that is preventing me from watching anything.

After the initial Disney logo I get the main interface icons on the left, but on the right where it should display shows I get an all text message saying "Unable to connect to Disney+ There seems to be an issue connecting to the Disney+ service. Please try again later if the issue persists."

I have cleared the cache, deleted the data, uninstalled and re-installed the App, rebooted my Nvidia shield, router and TV. I even tried Disney+ support chat and they had me go though all of those steps as well and they finally blamed it on my ISP. The weird thing is it works on my phone over WiFi so I doubt that is it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nvidia shield tv, shield tv pro or mi box s?

    Posted: 03 May 2020 01:41 PM PDT

Hi. I bought an hisense 65" 4k tv. Before, I had a ,not smart, lg hd ready 42" to which I connected a minix neo u1 years ago. That lg is going, together with the minix, to the bedroom. I used the minix to run my mkv's with subtitles through kodi on a usb pendrive. I still want to use this method with my 4k hisense (don't ask, but 8mb adsl internet plays a big part in not wanting anything to do with streaming, plus, it's free movies and series in my country where torrenting is not illegal).

Now, I have 50gb mkv's to play through usb pen. The tv does an excellent job but it struggles with the subtitles. If a remux has 20 subtitles or so, the tv menu only shows 10 or something, even my own srt either doesn't show up or works weird. I loved my xbmc for minix. I want it back. But it is needed in the other tv so, should I buy a mi box s for this or a shield tv (would have to use sd cards instead of usb pens, no streaming, not even internal plex or stuff like that, I like my full remux files connected to the tv for the best sound and video quality) or even a shield tv pro? I just think these shields are kind of overkill since I'm not going to play or stream anything on them. Just want kodi and a good hardware since the mkv's are 4k hdr dts hd and 80gb some times...do you think a mi box s plays these large 4k hdr dts files fine or should I go for a shield?

Is an AndroidTV for me ?

    Posted: 03 May 2020 12:18 PM PDT

    Hello,

can i do the following with an Android TV that costs less than 60euros ?

    1/ Download Torrents :

. run a torrent server that I can manage through a web interface from any computer of the local network (to upload a .torrent file, check progress, pause downloads etc)

2/ Power and run an external 2.5" usb drive (2TB)

.formated in exFat, hosting all my medias and downloaded torrents

    3/ Run Kodi

    . and play 1080p h265 mkv with AC3 audio.

    4/ If I go with a Mi Box S

Can I run a custom open source rom ? Is there a way to desolder the microphone in the remote ? I don't care about having another device collecting random datas in my house ( not being paranoid, we all know it's being done by Apple, Amazon and Google all the time (through "accidental triggers" , some of us just decide to care a little)
