Posted: 10 May 2020 08:31 AM PDT i bought a pixel 2 on ebay for cheap because the back glass is shattered, its a great phone and works perfectly, but the only problem is that i bought it to root it since i read about pixels having good community and rom support, but the one i bought seems to be a refurbished phone that has a locked bootloader because it is refurbished. has anyone found a reliable way to do this? ive tried multiple workarounds and none of them helped. any response (even if youre telling me its impossible) is appreciated [link] [comments] |

Posted: 10 May 2020 10:08 AM PDT its kinda a long story so here i go : i was trying to install android x86 on my pc but 'accidentaly' deleted my debian partition which had the bootloader, now it is refusing to boot after an hour of trying, windows is still there though... my phone (nokia 8) has allot of ISO's installed (i like emulating) and now i have to burn one of the iso's and boot from it somehow... how? tldr; i screwed the pc grub bootloader and cant boot and dont have any usb/other pc, how do i boot from an android? Posted: 10 May 2020 08:46 AM PDT I got my mom a new phone and she hates upgrading, because of having to re-download apps and reorganize everything whenever she does. She can't stand technology nowadays. Does android (9.0, she'll have a Moto G7 Power coming from a Moto E5 Plus) allow transferring apps and data without manually downloading everything? I've just used Nova personally whenever I switched and that'll be too difficult for her to deal with. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 10 May 2020 09:51 AM PDT I have a router that I use for things like network drives that I keep "off-grid" (so not connected to the internet). All of my other devices, including older Android devices, can connect to it. My new phone (Android 9) refuses to connect, but is happy to connect to any other WiFi network. The only thing that I can think of that sets this network apart is that it is (intentionally) disconnected from the internet. My phone keeps saying that it is trying to connect, but then refuses and tries again. I have rebooted my phone, and the router to no avail. I have changed physical proximity, and verified that two raspberry pis, a windows tablet, and an iPad are connecting. I tested two other WiFi networks and my phone connects fine. I'm assuming that it isn't a network issue, but rather an Android issue (or my particular phone, maybe [I don't know the name, just some BLU phone that I got to replace my old, broken one]). Does anyone have any suggestions or other tips? Something I may have overlooked? Thanks in advance :) [link] [comments] |

There is no need to put a pin in the recovery mode because if someone steals you, it can be flash another recovery or put it in fastboot mode. | Malware/virus on my Samsung Galaxy s9 survived a factory reset. Posted: 10 May 2020 02:41 AM PDT I believe my phone was compromised with a virus so I did a factory reset on my device (not rooted). Now there's a bunch of search engines I don't recognize in the Samsung internet app: Samsung Internet > Three-line icon > Settings > Search Engine > + > Add search engines I can't exactly tell which ones as they are mostly written in chinese. Some of them are in korean and russian. The ones I can read are Mailru, Yandex, Startpage and 360. I have no idea how they appeared as default search engines bc I haven't linked any account. Posted: 10 May 2020 07:45 AM PDT I own an LG 7 PLus phone for a year, but I've been having issues about my phone telling me it doesn't sense a sim card even though the sim card is inside. To further help with the info, the location of the sim card is on the left side of the phone. I would go to my settings and eject the sim card and mount it again. But no matter how many times I try, the sim card for no reason can't be found by my phone. How do I solve this issue? [link] [comments] |
| SD card issues (SanDisk 400gb in a Galaxy Note 8) Posted: 10 May 2020 09:33 AM PDT All of a sudden yesterday I looked in my gallery and none of my albums in my SD card showed up. I removed and installed my SD card again and it showed up but when I went to move some images from internal storage to SD it the bar popped up, didn't go to full and quickly went down and the image wasn't moved. I tried to take a picture (I have it set to store pictures on to the SD card) and it read "Can't save file to SD card. Default storage location changed to Internal Storage". Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix it? Or should I just get a new SD card? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 10 May 2020 07:13 AM PDT Hi, my first ever post on reddit! im from Australia. im a long time Samsung user and have just upgraded from note10+ to s20ultra through work package. i used to have the eBay widget on my n10 but it is no longer available on the s20u. is there a way to get this again? i asked on whirlpool forums but I don't quite understand. im a newbie and novice on apps and downloads and apk etc. is there a turtorial or someone who can teach me how to get it back? i want to aviod any jail break or warranty etc as I will have to return the phone after the upgrade period every 18m/2yrs.. thank you in advance for your help. kind regards. | Casting Moto G8 Plus to TV Not Working. Posted: 10 May 2020 11:42 AM PDT As the title states I'm having this Issue. Both phone and TV are on same wireless network. When trying to cast I get stuck in an endless loop of 'searching for devices'. My Old G5 running a lower version of Android had no problems connecting to my TV for YouTube videos. That was built in to YouTube itself. When watching a video via YT it would give me the option to cast to TV and worked flawlessly, Why on Android 9 and a new phone is it harder? What do I need to do? | Can someone help me make Google assistant a little bit more helpful on Galaxy S9? Posted: 10 May 2020 11:35 AM PDT So, I have my phone lying on my bed 7 feet away from me. I shout "Hey Google, set a timer for 5 minutes" and it replies "Setting a timer for 5 minutes". Then, I shout again "Hey Google, how much time do I have left on my timer" and it replies "It looks like you don't have a timer set at the moment" :| I walk to my bed open the clock app and see that there is indeed a timer running :| This happens when I try to stop the timer too before it goes off. This also happens with Alarms, Stopwatches etc., Basically, I can start something using Google assistant, but I cannot stop it or change it through Google assistant. This does not happen with my Google home device. It happens exclusively with my Galaxy phone. Would it work better if I had a Google device like the pixel or some other pure android device? Also, would this work better if I install cyanogen mod or something when the warranty on the device expires? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 10 May 2020 11:32 AM PDT The Google app on Android (the one with the news feed) has a really weird bug related to wifi that I've been encountering on two different Android phones. I'll be scrolling through the feed and suddenly the wifi cuts out randomly and switches to cell data. Then suddenly it reconnects. It only happens on this app and it's two different phones. | The most recent software update made my bluetooth headphones quiet Posted: 10 May 2020 11:23 AM PDT Self explanatory my headphones were loud enough to only need to be a couple notches up but now it has to be in the red to be heard. I tried developer mode and turned of the sound limit but it didn't seem to help. There used to be a dual audio option in the bluetooth settings that would help but it's gone now. I have found my old Asus Nexus 7 tablet from approx 2012 (think it's running on Kitkat?) and I've managed to jump-start the battery into charging up again. I have got to the password screen, but I cannot for the life of me remember the password. Does anyone know how I can reset this password without wiping the device? The android smartphone scene now is vastly differently. Its dominated by Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo and some other Chinese brands. Do you guys see Sony or LG making a comeback in the near future? | Picture-in-picture doesn't work Posted: 10 May 2020 11:04 AM PDT Hey, I hope you can help me with the following problem: I'm using a Honor 10 with Android 9 and Emui 9.1. I did some research regarding the PiP feature and found out that it should be available for Oreo and later. I guess you know what I'm talking about, play a video in full screen, tap the home button, and the video would continue playing in a little PiP window while browsing other apps for instance. It doesn't work for me. Whenever I tap the home button while playing a video, it just return to my home screen. I use the latest version of both Chrome and YouTube. | Advice about malfunctioning Pixel 2 XL Posted: 10 May 2020 06:41 AM PDT Hello everyone, first post here. I own a Google Pixel 2 XL and lately it has been acting strange. My carrier is AT&T but the phone is unlocked. Also my phone has 64 GB of storage. My battery has been dying quick it seems, and whenever I plug the phone in it turns off. And last night it would not charge. I cleaned the charging port with some tape and it was clean. It charged this morning on a charger that was not the original fast charger which it would not charge on last night. Would y'all suggest replacing the battery (if I do this I will replace my screen as well because it has some cracks) also if I choose to repair it is there a larger mAh battery option? Would y'all recommend me using my upgrade? If so I have been interested in one of the new Samsung's or Pixel 4 models. I really like the samsung notes but I love how you always get the updates asap on the pixels. It says me to charge the phone and so on, and when its encrypting, inmediatly fails and reboot the phone doing no encryption.
