Any experience with using an android phone as an always-on camera? Posted: 09 Apr 2020 09:31 PM PDT Android phones have an amazing feature set for some functions. I have tried using an old phone before for time-lapse recordings but I've run into problems then. What I'm wondering now is whether any of you have tried or figured out how to deal with issues such as overheating? I've considered using an android phone as a secondary camera for livestreams. The NDI codec is pretty amazing in that regard. The phone would be hooked onto power and have its camera enabled for up to eight hours at a time. Linus Tech Tips had played around with some ridiculous hacks. Putting heat sinks or (water)coolers onto phones. And there a few gaming phones now with cooling but I can't dish out that kind of money. Are the camera modules themselves even designed to stomach that much continuous use? Aside from heat, are there other concerns I should be aware of? Any phones maybe that you would recommend for just this purpose? Oppo had a few phones where the front-facing camera was the primary camera. That is of course ideal, I would get the best quality video and have a view of the capture. [link] [comments]
Anyway to recover my contacts from two months ago? Posted: 10 Apr 2020 08:00 AM PDT This is driving me nuts. I take careful backups of many apps, aegis, Nova launcher, sms and call history. I am a Google one subscriber. Why can't I recover contacts from two months ago? Google drives device backups only restores the last snapshot! [link] [comments]
Baby monitor running android hack? Posted: 10 Apr 2020 09:18 AM PDT I have a cheap vtech baby monitor that runs android. Is it possible to get rid of their software/camera and install TinyCam and run my own cameras on this device? I can only find info about people hacking old phone and tablets to do this setup. Can anyone assist or point me in the right direction? [link] [comments]
I'm trying to perform a factory reset on an LG Prime 2 to bypass the secure boot-up. Posted: 10 Apr 2020 08:52 AM PDT I'll start by saying there's nothing illegal going on here. My boss got a new company cell phone for me and started to set it up. He enabled the secure boot up and now cannot remember the PIN for it. I'm trying to do a factory erase from off. I'm doing this by holding the power button and the volume down button at the same time until boot up. However, the phone is just cycling between the LG symbol and off over and over again instead of going to the bootloader screen. Any thoughts? [link] [comments]

Can Android malware be hidden? Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:03 AM PDT Is it possible for an android malware to be completely hidden? No file, no app nothing. Is it possible? If yes, how could I get rid of it? [link] [comments]
| Posted: 10 Apr 2020 12:43 PM PDT My phone has slow internet connection. Other devices work just fine. But my phone is a little slow. For example YouTube takes a long time to load and can't run 1080p vides without lagging. Other social media take a little longer to load and everything internet related is just slower than usual. However, everything that doesn't need internet to work, is fine. What could be the cause? I'm using a firewall (NetGuard). Does it have anything to do with that? | Posted: 10 Apr 2020 12:35 PM PDT I was playing Minecraft and when i entered to a dark zone, the brightness of the phone went down. I have experimented this problem with many others games. I have deactivated the auto brightness mode and still have the problem. Its so much tedious since sometimes i can't see anything. so i wanna know what's happening. [link] [comments] |

Any way to recover SMS conversation after deleting them from phone? Posted: 10 Apr 2020 12:22 PM PDT Weird title I know. My dad just texted me saying that he accidentally just deleted his entire SMS history with me on his Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7. He's really upset because he loved looking back at certain messages and photos. I still have the whole conversation on my phone. Is there any way at all I can restore that on his? Or at the very least export it from mine? I believe he uses the Verizon messages app. Thank you all a million, he's really upset by this. [link] [comments]
Does a universal wireless Android charger exist? Posted: 10 Apr 2020 12:12 PM PDT My charger port is busted and every store is closed so I can't get a new phone. Do you guys know any wireless charger that works with anythin? I'm using a Motorola e3 something. Thank you. [link] [comments]
Steam App - Launching links issue Posted: 10 Apr 2020 12:07 PM PDT Running latests Android on S10+. Currently, everytime I try to launch a the Steam app through a link either from Reddit or the web, it immediately fails. By fails, I mean the selection blinks but not a damn thing happens. Is this a known issue at all? [link] [comments]
Can I add a face to someone's Messenger feed? Posted: 10 Apr 2020 05:35 AM PDT A friend hasn't bothered to add a mugshot for use in Facebook and Messenger. That means when they message me their "chat head" appears but only as a generic silhouette. Is there any way that I can add an image (like I can do with Google contacts) or does it have to be done by them? [link] [comments]
| Trying to connect Samsung Galaxy Nexus to Win10 computer Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:37 AM PDT I have my dad's old Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Model number: SCH-i515), and I am trying to connect it to my Lenovo 730 laptop so I can install an apk file. The phone doesn't have a sim card, and I can't get the apk file on the phone itself without it. I tried downloading the USB drivers from Samsung, but I'm not highly experienced with technology, and am not entirely sure how to properly get them working. I've already tried going to Device Manager and updating the drivers manually, but I still can't do anything with the phone. If anyone has any idea of how to get this working that would be amazing! | How to transfer text messages from one android to another? Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:34 AM PDT A family member of mine had just passed away and I accidentally deleted our text messages on my phone. Ideally, I would want to have it transferred to my phone from his phone our conversations. Is that possible? If not, is there any other way to get myself a copy of the text messages? | [HELP] Can't reset Vankyo Tablet Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:16 AM PDT I have a Vankyo MatrixPad Z1 Kids Tablet 7 inch that I purchased from Amaon. It worked fine for a few weeks, then locked up on the boot screen. After doing some research I learned I could do a reset by holding power+volumeUP. I wiped the machine, still wouldn't boot. Now, for reasons I don't know, it boots but I still have a problem. If I try to go through the setup, it requires a gmail account previously used, and it's not working. So I tried to do a FULL reset. When I now boot with power and volume, I get to the screen with the robot saying "No command" but it never offers any type of menu to wipe the device. any help? [link] [comments] |
Google Messages not showing contact name Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:15 AM PDT Hello. I'm on a Oneplus 7T, up to date, with Google messages as my default SMS app, also up to date. I am having trouble because the sms threads will not show the name of the contact, just their phone number. I have tried everything I can think of including deleting the contact and re making it, and adding extra copies of the contact. Thanks in advance for the help [link] [comments]
| Posted: 10 Apr 2020 09:48 AM PDT Usually I leave my phone on the home screen on my phone but after the latest update instead of defaulting to the home page with all my main apps it scrolls to the far left screen and I have to hit the square button to get back to my main screen why is it doing that? | Posted: 10 Apr 2020 09:45 AM PDT Hi, do you know if there exist anywhere an app that has the Pixel live wallpaper but they're not running at full resolution? I tried setting a couple up on my Moto X4 but they make the multitasking and homescreen laggy. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Galaxy J7 Constantly Out of Space Posted: 10 Apr 2020 07:17 AM PDT Hi All, Apologies if this is the wrong subreddit for this, but I don't know where else to turn, especially with stores closed. I am constantly getting the notification that my Galaxy j7 is out of space, even occasionally one that says my phone is "dangerously low and will stop working correctly if you don't clear space." I get that one mostly with Messages. I'm at a loss. I have 16GB of space total and it says 15.7 is used. The breakdown looks like this: Documents: 0 Images: 7.11 MB Videos: 0 MB Audio: 5.3 MB Apps: 3.6 GB Am I wrong in saying not all of that adds up? I moved 100 pictures off my phone (there's 30 left), deleted tons of apps (some useful ones), moved Facebook Messenger, Discord, Instagram, and many others onto my SD card, and all music that I download goes directly there. The only thing I can think is that it's old text messages, but even that seems like a reach. Any help would be appreciated - many thanks. [link] [comments]
S20 + 5G, buy now at £400 off or wait? (UK) Posted: 10 Apr 2020 06:56 AM PDT So I've just realised that I can get the S20+ 5G off Samsung UK directly using the flash sale code (SAMSUNG20) as well as trading in my own S9 against it for £600, £400 off the usual £1000 price. This seemed like quite a good deal, although i am a bit nervous as it would burn through what's left of my savings (I am however 16, so my savings are entirely disposable and i have no need to have money laying around as much as it is useful. My plan previously was to wait until my contract expires in October, at which point I would buy either a OnePlus 8T, an iPhone 12 (whichever model was affordable) or a Samsung S20 (again, affordable model) unless one of them came up on a cheap contract deal again. Is biting the bullet now a good idea? £600 is abit more then I initially wanted to spend however I would be paying similar for a OnePlus/Apple so it's not too bad really. I'm just cautious to spend this much now if a cheaper deal could come up. I prefer SIM free for the record, but I would go contract if it was cheaper overall or was a worthwhile deal. Edit: it would be the UK model, so sim free but stuck with the Exynos chip. My S9 has one too, so I'm used to less then acceptable battery life if that's a dealbreaker. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Apr 2020 06:42 AM PDT Hey there, I'm using Meizu 6s cellular phone with FlyMe 7.1.4. Today I did a clean-up for suggested content with the built-in CleanUp app. I'm doing it many times when I'm running out of space. Afterwards I couldn't use the internet anymore, both in WiFi and data roaming mode. It does connect to 4G and WiFi, everything appears to be normal, but no data is transferring. What doesn't work: browsing (tried 2 different browsers) to any website, whatsapp, Facebook, instagram What does work: Soundcloud, music streaming apps, could've downloaded operating system update What I tried: restarting, updating my operating system, made sure data roaming and all data set-up is on I wish to avoid reseting to factory settings... Any help would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments]
Dark mode like battery saver mode? Posted: 10 Apr 2020 05:46 AM PDT When I turn on battery saver mode on my Pixel XL it makes everything dark. Is there a way to do this without using battery saver mode? I think it will help my eyes and my battery. [link] [comments]
