Posted: 03 Apr 2020 05:57 AM PDT Phones from chinese manufacturers are tempting, but their ties to the chinese government sound a bit sketchy. Obviously this doesn't only apply to china, and apps collect a lot of data as well. However, I specifically want to avoid the chinese government because it's a dictatorial regime with questionable behaviour. Can you eliminate this risk by rooting the device and changing it's ROM? | Low volume when connected to speakers via Bluetooth Posted: 03 Apr 2020 06:52 AM PDT Posted in the Google pixel subreddit but pressing here too. I have a pixel 2xl I noticed yesterday when connecting to my Bluetooth speakers that the volume and bass isn't as high as it used to be. I used to set the volume on my phone to 40% (speaker volume and woofer level set to max) and that would produce satisfactory volume and bass levels for me. Since yesterday, (perhaps this issue started earlier and I just haven't noticed until I connected to my speakers) I have needed to set the volume on my phone to around 80-90% to get the same volume as I once did at 40%. With regards to the bass, I am unable to replicate what I used to get even at 100% volume since the issue surfaced. I know it is not an issue with my speakers as I connected my PC to the speakers via Bluetooth and they work as they should. I also tried connecting my Mother's phone (Galaxy S10) and once again, the speakers sound fine. I have a set of galaxy buds and the volume on those has reduced drastically since the issue started. I've read many posts and articles talking about checking and unchecking 'disable absolute volume' but it has absolutely no effect (the volume level on my speakers are always set to the maximum). I've talked to Google support and we tried a bunch of things from taking my case off to a factory reset. Nothing worked. I'm on the 5th of March Security Patch and am not enrolled in the beta. If it is a bug with Android I really hope they fix it soon. If anybody has any solutions, or suggestions I'd greatly appreciate the help. Posted: 03 Apr 2020 11:56 AM PDT The A51 was expected to be released here in the states back in February, but here we are in April and not even a word about that happening, no release date, nothing. Im wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to order one that will work here in the US. I know nothing about frequency bands, or what phones work or why, but I am hoping there is some way I can get a hold of one that will work fine (with cricket wireless) here in the states. | Ways to make a full backup on a pc? Posted: 03 Apr 2020 11:48 AM PDT Just got a call from my mom that she dropped her phone (Huawei P-something) and her screen broke. From what she told me it's basically unusable but will still turn on and show all black with some green bars. She never made a backup of it (because "why would I need one for my phone?!"). But as she's working from home now she needs a phone for her companies 2F-Auth and a few other things. So I'm going to give her an old one I kept for this exact reason. Is there a way to get a full backup of her phone with a pc? Doesn't have to be messages, phone numbers or the call log, but all the apps with their settings, and other files she has on it? I don' t know (because she didn't tell me) if she can disable 2FA herself or if she needs to wait till monday for the tech guys to work again. | Google bar not working like it used to (Assistant features) Posted: 03 Apr 2020 07:40 AM PDT I type in the Google bar often for little things like "set alarm for 8am" then Google/Assistant smartly let's me click a button to confirm the alarm is set. Now this isn't working and it just shows me Google search results instead. This happens on multiple devices. What gives??? | A little direction on using a Galaxy Tab 2 for remote/smart home. Posted: 03 Apr 2020 09:32 AM PDT I'm not that good with this stuff yet so sorry if the solution is obvious. I do have some experience with computer stuff and very basic engineering programming (Matlab). I'm trying to become better and more independent so I would appreciate a point in the right direction to where I can find info. I've been reading up on it, but honestly I'm a little confused what to do. We found my wife's old Galaxy Tab 2 (GT-P5113) with an IR blaster. I would like to use it as a remote for a couple of devices like our TV and Roku or possibly smart home stuff. I have a Raspberry Pi that I will be using to set up Home-Assistant to link and control some other devices in the house. I've factory reset it. It is 8 years old so obviously it will be pretty much unusable if updated. I've been reading about installing custom ROM, but is that still the way to go? All the instructions I'm finding for it are still 6-7 years old. Will it allow it to update enough to run the necessary apps? Should I wait until I set up Raspberry Pi to find out if I need to put something on it then? Is there another method I should research? I'm fine to test and learn, but I'd rather not brick my project for something that would have never worked anyway. Any advice at all is appreciated. [link] [comments] |

And even some play it is so weird and the movies are looking like comics in lower brightness. And i have attached the images how it look like. Hope you can spot the difference. | Battery life not being displayed correctly Posted: 03 Apr 2020 08:57 AM PDT Sorry for formatting, I'm on mobile. Maybe 5 or 6 months ago, I noticed that my battery would start going down faster the lower the percentage got, like going from 25 to 17 in about 15 minutes, and when it died and I plug it in later, I would have maybe 8 percent when it told me that it was dead. Recently, it's been going from around 30 to 12 in half an hour, then it shoots down to zero in less than 5 minutes. Restarting it helps some, but that only adds about 3-5 percent when the actual percentage is usually 20 higher than the displayed number. Today, it went from 36 to 14 in about 45 minutes then to 6, I restarted which put it up to 9, then it died 5 minutes later, I plugged it in and it said that there was still 24 percent left. Now that covid-19 has me working primarily from home I need to from notifications from my phone but even though I turned off do not disturb and deleted the scheduled times it's supposed to come on it will still turn itself on during the hours I am normally at work. | Google play keeps crashing for me. Posted: 03 Apr 2020 08:35 AM PDT I don't know what I did, but for whatever reason, after updating Google play, it crashes every time I try to open it. I've tried uninstalling the update, but every time I do, and get it to work, it auto updates itself (despite me telling it not to) and then breaks itself. I have a feeling it might be due to a bad overlay (I use swift installer), but I don't know what to do about it. Is there a way I can completely purge Google play from my phone and reinstall it? Or is there some way to fix this issue without doing so? I also have the Xiaomi Mi 9t with ExtendedUI installed if that helps. [link] [comments] |
