Factory Reset Protection (FRP) needs improving! Posted: 25 Mar 2020 05:08 PM PDT Miniature rant so my apologies.. However a family member of mine recently had a device stolen off them, we figured her photos & videos would be safe as the device was password protected, fingerprint protected and she has a comprehensive password for her G-mail... Boy where we wrong. Little to the knowledge of the thief, he was on crystal clear CCTV and she knew his parents, after a heated exchange, upon getting the phone back, the phone looked nothing like hers, different wallpaper, different passcode, font, etc. Turns out he was able to simply (and when I say simply I mean literally in under 6 minutes from a YouTube video), was able to boot to recovery, factory reset the device then follow the YouTube tutorial he had found on how to bypass the FRP & boom he was done, in a matter of minutes. TL;DR, Factory Reset Protection is meant to do just that but alas, she lost everything, lesson learned, it's just a shame to see the same issues plaguing Android years later... Edit: I realize at the point of the factory reset from the recovery menu she'd more than likely lost everything anyway but the point is, without reporting the IMEI, he was quite easily able to keep the device as his own. Posted: 25 Mar 2020 07:17 AM PDT I'll cut to the chase. I started posting mobile game reviews on r/AndroidGaming in 2017, and ever since those weekly "tl;dr Android game recommendations" took off, I've been been thinking about a way to make it easier to discover actual great Android games, and filter them so it's easier to find exactly the game you're looking for. 3 years later; here we are. It's very much a grassroots app, and we've just launched it in closed beta. You can pre-register for it on Google Play (which is a huge help): Pre-register on Google Play here And if you want to help beta-test, shoot me a DM here on Reddit :) ________ If you're interested in why I'm creating MiniReview, what it does, and how it works, read on below - used bullet-points for easier readability: WHAT IS MINIREVIEW?

Posted: 26 Mar 2020 12:24 AM PDT I realise that the full potential of what Soli could be was extremely over-hyped by Google, with only the ability to control music (basically) on the Pixel 4.... But it's actually useful now. I'm not sure if recent updates have made it way more reliable, but I'm hitting the sweet spot about 95% of the time. I figured I was just used to it, but even my work mates were able to use it with their first try, this was not happening when I first got this. Now I use it everyday while my phone is on my desk, or when I am in the gym or cooking. I think it's still got work, but it's definitely reached a point of being actually useful. Has anyone else noticed this jump in accuracy? Is anyone using it more now? [link] [comments] | ||
TIL You can batch rename files on Solid Explorer Posted: 25 Mar 2020 03:10 AM PDT Just select all the files and tap the pencil icon to bring up this menu It supports regex, patterns and simple character replacment throughout. All these years I never knew this existed. Also btw, fuck imgur for making it damn impossible for people to upload images without using their app. It's a frickin image hosting website. Use this direct link to reach their upload page - https://imgur.com/upload [link] [comments] |
