Cannot get 4od on Sony Bravia XD 43XE8005/ Youview issue

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 08:28 AM PDT

I recently moved into a new place. There is no aerial so the TV is connected with cable and this is how I have tuned the channels. I think this cable was used for Virgin Media before I moved in. I want to download the 4od app but the tv asks me to install YouView first. I cannot do this I think because I don't have an aerial? Am I doing something wrong or is there a way of downloading 4od?

    Thanks

    Audio Delayed

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 08:24 AM PDT

I've had the mi box for quite a few months now and it has been working perfectly. However recently it appears that the audio is not in sync anymore and come out delayed.

Originally thought it was just the YouTube app but it appears to be widespread as it's affecting Netflix, HBO, showtime etc. Any suggestions for what might be causing this or how to fix it? I have cleared cache & data but still not working.

    Mi Box S Garbage?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 08:10 AM PDT

I took a chance since walmart had this thing for $30 and since my 1st gen chromecast is dying I figure this thing could at least replace that. Well, It shows up as a stream device, connects, and instantly disconnects. I've tried everything. Anything I can do to get this thing to work?

    PS4 remote play

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 12:35 PM PST

I waited for a long time for AndroidTV to update to 10 so I could play PS4 remote play on my tv. Just thought I'd let everyone know you can do it using chiaki sideloaded to your shield or other Android tv. The touchpad clicks don't seem to work, and the app has to be launched from settings, but very playable! Couldn't find anyone saying it worked for a long time, so I was just gonna try to help someone else!

    smb external usb drive?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 08:27 PM PST

I have a shield TV and a 1tb usb3 hdd attached, its not mounted as adoptable storage as i unplug it and take it to my parents and friends places, and its only for videos anyway.

Id like to be able to share it from the shield as a smb share so i can dump files onto it from the wifi, but i think the built in smb sharing is only for internal / adopted storage.

Is there any apk i could sideload that will happily run in the background, or do i need to be looking into root options?

    xcloud on Mi Box S

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 09:06 PM PST

Hi guys! Just bought the Xiaomi Mi Box S from Walmart for $30. Sideloaded xcloud (latest March 6th) apk and I could get it to install, sign in and even play Halo Master Chief. However, once I go back to the Android TV Home screen, I don't see the app installed. Looks like its automatically getting uninstalled. Am I doing something wrong?

Mini USB keyboard with Xiaomi mi box Android TV keeps disconnecting?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 02:17 PM PST

I have an xiaomi mi android tv box.

I have a usb dongle mini keyboard connected to it. When i first plug in the dongle into the mi box the keyboard works fine.

But after it goes to sleep, if i stop using it for a few minutes. i can't get the keyboard to work unless i take the usb dongle out and reconnect it to the box.

I'm thinking the power supply to the usb dongle is somehow going to sleep and not turning back on again, unless i pull it out and plug it back in

Is there a way to fix this? I can't seem ti find an option in settings to leave it on permanently.

Best box for car usage with kids?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 07:46 PM PST

I've been using a Micca media player with movies on USB sticks for a while and it works okay.

But it doesn't support every video format well enough which has me looking for another option.

I want a player I can power from USB or a car charger, can auto play media that is on there, and can remember where it was and continue when power is cut and comes back.

Is there a device like this out there?

Bite the bullet and go with a Xiaomi Mi Box S?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 09:31 AM PST

    Hello!

I've been trying to find a solution to pair my Bluetooth headphones with my TV for Netflix etc. I know adapters exist (use it with the TV's onboard Netflix) but they cost as much as a Xiaomi Mi Box S which is like $30. I want to know if it'll serve me well for these use cases:

    • Netflix (includes 4K content)
    • That's it

I'm worried about choppy 4K streams but from what I've read on several websites, it seems that everyone's getting different results ranging from "some few hiccups" to full blown "very choppy at 4K". I'm mostly concerned about purchasing it and ending up throwing it and trying to buy something like a Shield Pro, which I really want but can't find anywhere. So the only option is a shield tube at the moment, but I'd rather avoid that as I find the 32 bit app limitation to be really shitty (I want Dolphin emulation). So the question is, should I go for the Xiaomi Mi Box S?

    Thank you.

    Maximum Internet Speed

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 12:43 PM PST

So I have a KD-55X8500C and 500Mbps internet plan but when connected via wifi, the speed just won't go over 30Mbps no matter what. 280 is the best I get. When I connect it via a Lan cable, the speed is even worse, for some reason it won't cross 100Mbps. I was advised to use a cat6 cable but even then the speed is below 100Mbps. Idk what to do.

    Android tv for PC

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 10:22 AM PST

So i'm trying to make my own androidTV with a laptop, and it's main OS is Android TV from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVipDaOJWnU : Now since this doesn't come with any pre installed apps other then a file explorer, i am trying to sideload apps, like VivaTV, a app i used to use when i had a Mi Box. It gives me a Parse Error and when i went to to turn on Unknown Sources, it still gives me the error, i also enabled USB Debugging from the Developer options. I know i should just buy a Mi box or chrome cast or whatever, but this is all i have right now so i'm just trying to re purpose, Thanks in advance!
