I don't keep up with android releases and discussions. I recently learned that Google made call Recording impossible for 3rd party apps even if you sideload them. Also Google is making some changes to storage. Can someone explain what is going on with new android version. I plan to upgrade my phone. Currently on nougat. I want full freedom, i don't want any restriction. I want tasker and other apps to work without any limitation. Whats the best android version do you recommend?is android 9 any good? Are there any suggestions for a compact phone with flagship specs (can be slightly dated) with MicroSD, a small form factor, no display cutout (I can deal with this if needed), a decent battery, and decent software support (or Lineage OS support)? | Missed calls include my own number after the dialer's number Posted: 23 Feb 2020 07:40 AM PST I got a new phone recently (Xiaomi MI 9T pro), and for some reason, whenever I miss a call, it shows up as "caller number+my phone number". Eg., let's assume my phone number is 999 999, and I get a call from the number 123 123. After I miss the call, it will show up in the call log as: 123 123+999 999 This is causing problems, because when I miss a call, I don't see the contact's name, even if I have that person in my contacts. My phone has 2 sim slots, but it has only 1 card in it, not sure if it matters. [link] [comments] |

I mainly use Gboard, but this is an issue with Samsung Keyboard too. When I tap once on any of the characters in the bottom row of my keyboard (?123, comma, emoji, spacebar, period) it registers that I tap twice, and inputs the character twice. | Having a problem with all GPS apps on my phone. Posted: 23 Feb 2020 06:15 AM PST I have a Galaxy 8S plus. It is updated and so are the apps. When I use Waze, google maps and/or the uber app it will often times show that my vehicle is not moving and even show I'm going 0 mph and the icon for my vehicle will show as staying still. This will only happen when i enter a destination and start heading towards it. If i have no destination entered and drive it will show me moving. I installed the GPS test app. If I clear and update the AGPS then reset the phone it will work but only for a limited time. Usually about a day but sometimes only for an hour or so. Since I work in emergency services I really need my maps to work all the time. Any help with how to fix this permanently will be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |

I just use it as an alarm clock or to browse online now. It's an S7. Anyway so this happens frequently that when it's on it'll just start buzzing and will receive many notifications in a go. There's no phone number attached to it so it's not like these are whatsapp messages. But for some reason it'll just receive all these notifications that make no sense. Possibly related, it also seems to really suck the battery. Last night it was at like 60-80%, when I woke up it was dead. What?! [link] [comments] |

| Is it okay to restart my phone often? (GCam issue) Posted: 23 Feb 2020 12:23 AM PST I have been using GCam for a while now. It used to work perfectly in android 9 Pie. But God knows what happened and from the Android 10 Q update, it just works for 1-2 days after installing. After that, it stops capturing photos. I tried many versions but couldn't find one that works. And if I restart my phone, GCam starts working again. But that again lasts for 1-2 days and it stops taking pictures. This makes me restart my phone a lot more. So is it safe to do that? Would restarting my phone like, 5 times a week damage it or it's software in any way? And is there any fix for this GCam issue? | Posted: 23 Feb 2020 06:37 AM PST Oddly enough, I didn't notice this until after I installed Focus as my default browser - Though I'll admit it's possible I just didn't think anything of it when I was still intentionally using Chrome. Over the past two weeks, though, it's pretty conspicuous that an app I literally never use is always my top battery drain and usually at least tied for my top bandwidth consumer. It isn't so bad that my phone is dying in the middle of the day, but it's consistently a solid third of my total battery usage. My phone isn't rooted, Focus and Brave (I don't really use the latter, it's just a fallback if something won't render correctly in a Focus) are the only non-stock apps installed... It's a totally vanilla Pixel 3a with all the latest updates. 99% of what I use it for is phone, texting, email, web browsing, and Instagram (with background activity disabled). Thanks!
