Can an android virus have the form of a file and not that of an app? Posted: 24 Feb 2020 07:52 AM PST As the title suggests, I'm wandering if a file can be containing a virus or not. Amd can a virus be saved in your phone as a file amd not an actual application. [link] [comments] |

is there a solution to "cell standby" battery leakage? Posted: 24 Feb 2020 02:57 AM PST I have an old galaxy Ace with cyanogenmod on, that I would like to use for something. Unfortunately, even if I basically disabled anything, in the "battery usage" I can clearly see that the battery is actively being used by the cell network. I just don't need any cell network since I don't have any SIM to put in, so I would like to optimize battery life How can I do that? [link] [comments] |
RCA Android tablet stuck at "Voyager 3" screen, NOT safe mode related Posted: 24 Feb 2020 08:16 AM PST I am having an issue with an RCA Voyager 3 tablet that was given to me. When I turn it on, it hangs at the Voyager 3 screen indefinitely. Googling the problem tells me that it is a safe mode issue, but I am NOT trying to go into safe mode, I am just trying to turn it on!! throwing a negative operator "-safe" only yields junk unrelated results. I seem to be the only person who is stuck at this screen who is NOT trying to go into safe mode! I tried the pin reset button, I tried all the various button holds listed on the internet but the tablet will not get past that screen Does anybody know what the problem could be? [link] [comments] |
Android Equivalent To iOS’s “Shortcuts” App? Posted: 24 Feb 2020 10:43 AM PST Hi! Is there an equivalent app for Android to Apple's "Shortcuts"? If you're unfamiliar with Shortcuts, it's an app which lets you automate certain tasks or collections of them. (Idiot-friendly recommendations would be greatly appreciated.) I've seen various apps suggested via a web search and am wondering if there is an "official" app or one so widely used and simple to the point it may as well be the official app. Barring that, even "just" a good recommendation (or your favorite) would be welcome. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2020 10:24 AM PST Have seen a couple old posts about this, neither of the two solutions work but the problem persists. In NYC, many of the Starbucks Wifi do not work with Android tablet. The pop-up never arrives and the other basic steps of: 1) visiting a different webpage 2) visit "neverssl.com" Nothing cures it - iPhone right alongside connects just fine - who has some new thoughts? Thank you, your thoughts are appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2020 07:34 AM PST Hey I recently got a Samsung gear fit from a friend. It was stuck in a reboot loop. I tried fixing it and I couldn't get it to work. I tired connecting it to my computer using the odin3 application (also installed the Samsung drivers on my PC) it kept saying: added, removed, added, removed... Over and over and I don't know why. Then out of the blue I get this when I turn it on ( https://imgur.com/gallery/sHnTyXw ) Where can I go from here? Any idea? Thanks so much [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2020 07:27 AM PST i want to know if its possible to increase the ram of a phone with your internal storage without root. [link] [comments] |

My notification bar is suddenly blank today. What's up with that? Posted: 24 Feb 2020 09:11 AM PST Today I woke up and my notification bar is a clean slate, which is damn near impossible, because at the very least, I know there's a few that can't be cleared away, but this thing is completely empty. What do you think happened? Even the persistent ones are gone [link] [comments] |

Moto one vision worth 65 euro more than Moto one action? Posted: 24 Feb 2020 12:06 PM PST I'm looking to buy a new phone and i like the Moto one vision and action. The Moto one vision looks to have a better camera than the action, but is 65 euros more expensive. Do you think it would be worth to spend a bit more on the Moto one Vision for the camera? thanks for the help! If this kind of question isn't allowed, i'm sorry, just take it down then :) [link] [comments] |

Phone heating and draining battery too fast Posted: 24 Feb 2020 11:07 AM PST So lately my Samsung J5 (2016) have been heating very easily wile browsing instagram YouTube or google to the point where it gets very slow, but what concerns me the most is that this last week its battery have been draining insanely fast just today my phone went from 30%+ battery to 7% in less then an hour while using Spotify (only). I wonder what could be the problem i dont over charge it. And i often clear tasks. Could it be that the phone is just old or what? Should i get Task Killers or anything else? If yes which ones. If you know anything that could help tell me. [link] [comments] |
Google Assistant and "mistress" what is up with that? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 12:33 PM PST I had a couple of entries in my contacts for my wife, one as the ICE contact and another just with her mobile number. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Feb 2020 04:14 AM PST With all the changes to Android OS why do we still have to reach for the top of the screen to interact with apps? Move the buttons to the bottom of the screen! Make Android easy with the screens all becoming over 6" now. The whole top bar on almost every app should be at the bottom..... [link] [comments] |

rooted android: strange file will not be copied or moved, while all others will Posted: 24 Feb 2020 08:40 AM PST I asked over at xda and got nothing. Not. One. Single. Answer. Not even a guess. Just crickets. So perfectly good running rooted android phone running the last stock ROM. TWRP. Android File Transfer. Everything hooked up, and working. I can see the file I want to drag from the phone to my MacOS desktop, right there in the download folder of AFT. So when I try to drag it to the desktop, it looks like some script runs quickly in the background for just a second, then I get an error message something about "could not copy file". Every other file I want to transfer using AFT drags and drops easily. A little more about this "file" I fit helps. It is a Barnes and Noble Nook book file I was reading in the Nook app on my phone. B&N (of course) doesn't want you to be able to see or do anything with that file except read it in their app. So I found it with a root file manager. The first funny thing happened when I tried to export that file with my root file manager... It crashes any time there is an attempt to copy or move that file. So how did I get it into the "downloads" folder? I booted into recovery (TWRP) and used it's file manager to move it. That worked. But this file will NOT be cut copied pasted dragged or moved using Android File Transfer. In fact, AFAICT, it can only be operated on in any way, while in recovery. And this is something over my head. Gonna guess maybe it's some kind of permissions thing. And maybe while in TWRP advanced menu I can do some kind of chmod operation to change permissions. But I don't know what I'm doing there. Maybe a quick suggestion of how to chmod it from TWRP. -Peter [link] [comments] |

(Android 10, Motorola One Action) no option to edit at a glance Posted: 24 Feb 2020 07:45 AM PST I long pressed on my home screen and selected home settings and there's no option to edit at a glance. Nothing happens when I long press the widget itself either. I tried it with another copy of the widget I created myself and have the same errors. Is this a bug? Is it to do with Motorola? iOS equivalent backup/restore system for Android Posted: 24 Feb 2020 07:42 AM PST Hi, I would like to unlock the bootloader in order to enable Camera2 API on my phone. But i found out that this process wipes all data on the device and after hours of googling I can't find an answer. When i had an iPhone i could just simply backup and restore in iTunes and it would put the phone in the exact state it was when backing up. Is there anything equivalent to iOS backup/restore system on Android? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Samsung s9 App viewer question. Posted: 24 Feb 2020 07:20 AM PST So when I have multiple apps open and select the app viewer it obviously open up the app view which is nice however, what I'm wondering is if the app viewer is suppose to default to the app next to it rather than stay on the app you are using. I find it really annoying that it does and want to change this cause I by force of habit want to close the current app I'm using but the app viewer switched by default and I close another app I want to keep open.
