Use Google Nest Mini (Pair, in the near future) as Bluetooth Speaker for my Shield TV

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 06:14 PM PST

So I tried to somehow get the Nest Mini to connect to my Shield, in order to stream the sound onto it (the Mini). However, in-app attempts like streaming music are only possible to go in the other direction (to the TV). While other means of connections are only able to allow controling the TV with my Voice through the Nest Mini. Streaming the picture + sound to my Nest Mini through a sideloaded Home App doesn't work, since it doesn't recognize other devices in the same network and so my last chance would've been non in-app means like Bluetooth. Of course this was the most obvious choice for a connection, but having all those devices in one app, you might think they would allow any kind of connection between those devices, especially since speakers like the Home Max were basically made to be used as music boxes. But alright, so back to good old Bluetooth. The only problem is; the Shield doesn't want to connect to my Nest Mini via Bluetooth! It always shows me an error of the pairing not beinv possible and than cuts the connection. The Nest Mini does save the Shield as a paired Bluetooth-Device and the Shield did the same thing for the Mini once, but the connection still didn't work. No matter what I do; resetting the Bluetooth-Application, trying the least common ways to connect or something else entirely, IT DOESN'T WANT TO WORK!

So PLEASE, can someone help me to finally connect those two together? I just want to have the sounds be played by my Nest Mini instead of the TV, why is it so difficult?!

ALSO: My Shield (2017) is rooted, I don't know if this could be the core of the problem...

    Apple music on my streamer

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 04:27 AM PST

I want to stream music from my phone, to the my streamer which is the meizu mi box s.

There's a button for that in the app, and when both devices are connected to the same network this button does work/

but my problem is- when i stream to the mi box, the app just goes insane. skipping songs on her own and just going nuts. Like the android tv is commanding it all random stuff while im not actually doing anything.

Anyone has the same problem? i have a Huawei p30 with the apple music app.

How to put this bluetooth remote into pairing mode ?

When you soft power-off an AndroidTV, why does it disappear from network (to chromecast)?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 01:39 PM PST

On my old setup ...the chromecast was plugged into a dumb TV via HDMI with ARC enabled. I could keep the TV in soft power down and still get it to power on automatically and switch to the right input by simply casting to that chromecast from my phone.

I recently upgraded to a 4K Hisense AndroidTV with built in Chromecast .

When I keep TV in soft power off mode (not shut down) ..the it seems to disappear from network altogether.

I would like to have the same freedom to power up chromecast on demand by simply casting from any phone or app. Don't want to have to pick up the remote first to power up the TV. Any solution for this? Thanks.

Can I dumb down an Android smart TV if I want to?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 09:29 PM PST

I got a budget 4k android TV at black Friday sale price. The display size and quality are decent and I want to keep it for long term use.

But the android features and UI are sluggish and sometimes the input switches to built in chromecast for no reason whatsoever while I am in the middle of watching something like netflix app or youtube app. Trust me no one is casting with phone or any fiddling with remote. Feel the software is a tad bit unreliable and processor and ram are underpowered.

I have a 4k fire tv stick and plan to get a 4K Roku in future. So I don't really need built in smart features.

Can I somehow program my android TV to forget about all its smarts and apps and just sandbox it to work as a reliable dumb TV? Just allow me to choose between HDMI 1/2/3 and do nothing else except volume control and oixture settings?

[Seeking recommendation.] Looking for a media player box for my HDTV that I can play movies from a USB drive. H.265 and E-AC3 capable, but 4K not necessary.

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:27 PM PST

I know of the Nvidia Shield, but it's $150+ and does a lot that I don't need.

I see tons of ~$20 boxes on eBay, like the MXQ Pro 4K, but it doesn't look like they are E-AC3 capable. (Or are they?)

Any suggestions? I don't need the cheapest. I'd rather pay a little extra for some quality, but a $150 Shield is way too much for my needs.

    Thanks!

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:22 PM PST

I have an android tv box MXQ9 4k, and when I open the YouTube app, it prompts me to update to the recent version, but when the play store opens, it says there is no version available to my device. Does anyone knows how to install the normal version? My device has the version 7.12 of android tv.

    Weird problem androidTV/Nest

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 10:40 AM PST

    Hi guys,

I'm in a bit of confusion at the moment and was hoping you guys could help. I have an Android TV (Philips) with built in Chromecast and Google nest mini v2. In the Home app on my phone I see the TV connected, they are all connected with the same gmail account. But Nest cannot get access to it, whenever I command something, it always says that it cant find the device. Casting from my phone works fine and I double checked that I have updated cast versions. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance
