Android TV Android 9 safe to install Mi Box S? |
| Android 9 safe to install Mi Box S? Posted: 24 Jan 2020 04:22 AM PST It seems like Android 9 messes up a lot of things when I read through all the discussions about bugs and glitches in Android 9 on Mi Box S... I am still using Android 8 on my Mi Box S and I am thinking of updating to Android 9... Is there any stable version out yet? [link] [comments] |
| Fire TV control of connected LG TV (HDMI CEC) Posted: 24 Jan 2020 04:39 AM PST I can't explain the behaviour I am seeing, so time to turn to the experts. I have an LG TV (60PB5600; non-smart plasma bought just before the tech. was phased out). Though I have not managed to explicitly confirm that it supports HDMI CEC, I note that the Fire TV 4K that I am testing does power the TV on/off and the volume control adjusts the TV's native volume (I can tell by the volume graphic that appears). Thinking it might be using IR, I blocked the Fire TV remote's line of sight and it still works suggesting control via CEC. Now, when I test the Mi Box S (now on 9.0), enable HDMI CEC, it doesn't work. TV doesn't power on/off along with the Mi Box and volume control is not the LG graphic and so appears to be a line level adjustment. What am I missing? I'd kind of rather keep the Mi Box as I prefer the interface, but the Fire TV's remote feels and behaves better especially given its native control of the TV. Is there anything I can try? Thanks!
