- The MP3 files that I download won't show up when I try to play them on my music player. When I checked in "My files" I saw that the MP3 files kept being placed in the "Downloads" section rather than the "audio" section like they usually do. I'm totally lost. | Wifi Calling Breaks When Using Local DNS Posted: 07 Jan 2020 07:59 AM PST Decided to give Pi-Hole a try and found that everything worked apart from wifi calling on my Pixel 3a. Tried the usual things and resorted to packet capture on my AP and discovered something pretty weird. The phone makes the DNS request but the Pi-Hole never receives it because the destination MAC address is set incorrectly (the gateway MAC address). In this instance the gateway is a Juniper SRX firewall (192.168.1.254), Android device is 192.168.1.132 and the Pi-Hole is on a Raspberry Pi with address 192.168.1.1. Here's a screenshot of what I see in Wireshark after rebooting the phone: https://imgur.com/a/Srtx1OZ. The source and destination IP addresses are correct however there's that weird difference in destination MAC address. I've worked around the issue by adding a secondary IP address on the Raspberry Pi in a different network (192.168.2.1) so requests to it need to go through the gateway but seems like anyone that's hosting a DNS server on their local network which isn't on the gateway will suffer the same issue. | Posted: 07 Jan 2020 07:28 AM PST As of this morning, seemingly out of nowhere, my GPS isn't working. I have an original pixel. When I first put the route into maps it knows exactly where I am but it isn't able to actually track me as I go. If I close and re-open maps it will update and show my location but it can't seem to keep updating while the app is actually open. I've tried uninstalling all updates from maps and re-installing, toggling GPS on/off, toggling airplane mode on and off, making sure I'm not in battery saver mode, restarting the phone multiple times; nothing has worked. My company tested it out but ultimately left mobile devices unmanaged. We use GSuite/Slack/etc and it was nice to have everything one more degree separated than just adding my work accounts to the phone normally. | Android 9 - volume keys always control ringer, even when media is playing Posted: 07 Jan 2020 07:43 AM PST I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot this issue. The volume keys on my xperia xz1 compact always change the ringer volume, even if media is playing. This is not the usual behavior, normally they control media unless there was a recent notification. | Posted: 06 Jan 2020 06:02 PM PST So I have this crazy urge that, and bare with me, I want my ringtone to KEEP playing after I answer the phone. Even better is if it lowers the volume as I pick up the phone so you can hear the conversation fine but the ringtone continues like background music. Does anyone know of ANY way I could possibly accomplish this? Edit: for those wondering, I want this cause the song Operation from AC4 is my ringtone and if it kept playing every phone call I had would seem like a matter of life and death and it would be beautiful. | Posted: 07 Jan 2020 11:35 AM PST I bought an Amazon fire tablet 7th Gen 2017. I want to enable USB debugging but the prompt on the screen never ahows up so it is always unauthorised. I have revoked authorisatoins, I have reset the device, hard reset, wiped it. Still nothing pops up. I have used multiple computers and it still does not authorise. I have tried to copy adb_keys to the data/misc/adb but cannot access it as I do not have root.... Any ideas? I have deleted the adbkey in C:\users\profile.android and it is recreated but still the rsa authentication does not pop up. [link] [comments] |

| VPN connection drops on app close Posted: 07 Jan 2020 07:12 AM PST I use a VPN on my phone (ZenFone 6.) Since updating to Android 10, When closing the VPN app (NordVPN, OpenVPN for Android, etc) the VPN connection is disconnected/dropped. I've all battery and ram management settings disabled for the app but still the app needs to stay open for the VPN connection to stay up. The connection works fine from boot (without the app being open) but if I launch the app (say, to change the country) and then close it again, the connection drops. If I leave the app open for a long period of time 1+ hour I can close it without the connection dropping. Can anyone offer any suggestions/advice/resolutions, please! [link] [comments] |

| Why did Google Assistant stop working after the update? Posted: 07 Jan 2020 09:52 AM PST I recently updated to Android 10 and now Google assistant rarely works. At least half the time, it'll make the sound like it recognized the trigger, but it will make it twice and say "can't reach Google at the moment." I asked around for helped, people mentioned "restarting your phone", I did that and it didn't work, then they mentioned "using a media scanner" which I did, then someone said something about going to the apps section of your phone, opening up media storage and clearing the data. Posted: 07 Jan 2020 12:16 AM PST I bought a 3V today and quite enjoying it however when I started my usual pair of earbuds I realized whenever I'm in a call with someone (most noticible in Discord) any video or call audio will randomly be picked up through the mic and cause an echo for the other person Is this a common issue with the 3V or a setting I'm missing? | Integration between phone and tablet Posted: 07 Jan 2020 03:15 AM PST So, in these days a weird idea pop up in my mind. I have a car with an old car radio with an aftermarket bluetooth module. Usually I connect my smartphone to the car and use it as navigator, music player etc... with android auto's app. Since I will need at least 200€ to buy a decent android auto system, and an Amazon Fire tablet cost more or less 70€, I wonder if there is a way to reroute calls and notification to the tablet, maybe pushbullet or something like that.
