Netflix not compatible with Samsung Galaxy S9+ Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:38 AM PST Hi, I unfortunately had my Samsung S9+ stolen the other weekend so I went about replacing it with a "refurbished" version of the same phone. Very happy with it as it works like new, but I'm unable to use Netflix at all, something to do with blocking access to phones that have been tampered with? Been looking for a workaround, installed the APK off the official netflix site and the app just says "this device is not supported by this app", can't download off the playstore either after resetting data and cache. Can't view mobile data usage information on Xiaomi phone Posted: 29 Jan 2020 07:58 AM PST Hi everyone! The problem is pretty much in the title. My Xiaomi MiA2 notifies me about some amount of data used, but I cannot view data usage information on how much each app used. When I open app data usage I just see a blank screen and a settings gear icon. I have two SIM cards of the same carrier. One SIM shows me the blank white screen I mentioned, while the other SIM shows around 7 gb usage. At the same time my carrier app states I've used 50gb of data on one of my numbers. Both doesn't seem true to me. I definitely used more than 7gb and less than 50gb. Any tips? Device runs android 9 [link] [comments] |

Touch sensitivity decreases and latency increases in specific condition! Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:24 AM PST The ZenFone 5Z has a multi-touch issue since its launch that, ignored by the brand, seems to have never even been analysed. The problem can best be seen, just as I detected it, playing first and third person games that use the two-thumb control scheme. It turns out that when we slide a finger on the screen, the response is 1.5x slower than with three fingers, with three or four fingers it's smooth. When we slide two fingers on the screen, not only does the [I]sensitivity decrease[/I], but the latency increases by 2x each. Causing an effect like using a low DPI mouse playing with a sniper on a shooter. There's an application on the Play Store called "MultiTouch Tester". With the application open: Slide one finger on the screen (preferably slowly for a better view of the effect) and notice it's not that smooth. Now hold one finger anywhere on the screen, and with another finger, slide slowly as you watch the graphic response to your command "stutter". With three or more fingers it gets better. Here are some videos that demonstrate the situation: In the first video, a comparison that demonstrates the ZenFone 5's ironic victory over 5Z. In the second one, a full screen view of how problematic camera control and aiming accuracy become in games. The third, in fact, is a YouTube channel, where videos are posted that demonstrate the same effect to two-touch controls. Searching YouTube and ZenTalk isn't hard to find more users having the same problem either. From the reports, it is present in all 5Z, in any version, ever since. To all readers: Please perform the tests that was described throughout the text and answer what your experiences were. To those with knowledge of touch issues:

Posted: 28 Jan 2020 10:50 PM PST So today at work, my phone (Motorola One) unlocked itself in my pocket and went to town pressing random stuff (I think everyone had it happen at least once, right?). After around 2 minutes of unmonitored "fun", I took it out of said pocket and noticed this. I went around the developer options, didn't find anything that might help me disable this "feature", so, here I am. About the window itself: I can move it, like any other floating app. I can scale it (full width takes about 30% of the screen). At the top (I think it's noticeable in the screenshot) it displays the inner window's current resolution. I tried restarting my device multiple times, enabling/disabling different things in the developer options, looked around the service menu (didn't have the balls to try random options in there, though). Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I really don't want to factory reset my phone. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
How can mass block numbers based on area codes? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:50 AM PST I don't want to receive calls outside my area code, or I want to block all 1 800 numbers from calling me, is that possible on android, or fucking at all? I have a galaxy S8 if that matters latest updates and everything. [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to enable notification access on my phone? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:50 AM PST Pretty much the title, I'm using Nova Launcher Prime and I want the notification dots on my icons but it doesn't work because my device says 'this setting is not available for this device'. Posted: 29 Jan 2020 06:23 AM PST Hi all! So I'm rocking a pixel 4XL and so far am pretty happy, but a problem that had recently gone away seems to be back. When trying to tag someone on Facebook/Instagram or what have you, I keep getting a weird autocorrect error that undoes the tag. For example: If I try and tag 'John Smith', I'll start typing, click the name when it pops up like it's supposed to, but then any key following the tag makes the the tag go away and the name autocorrect and duplicates the first two letters. If I type @John Smith, then hit space, it changes to 'John SmSmith' If I continue to backspace it keeps doing it. John SmSmith ---> Jojohn ---> JoJo This isn't isolated to the app or chrome and sometimes happens on Instagram too. No matter what name I put in, as soon as I hit any key after a tag this happens. Hope there are smarter folk out there than me who have already solved this dilemma. I've got memes to tag for goodness sake 😂 Thanks! [link] [comments] |

How likley is it for a Asian android to work in Europe? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 09:03 AM PST My mother is currently in Thailand and found a Realme 5i which seems really good for the price but I'm afraid it might not work here in Europe. I've heard there might be a few problems with the SIM card and bank apps. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:23 AM PST I have a Nokia 7 Plus. In December, I saw that Google Assistant's ambient mode suddenly appeared when I was charging my phone one day. It was working perfectly, and it was a great mode to have when my phone was charging besides having that screensaver that only shows the time. I recently updated my phone to Android 10, and ambient mode had disappeared completely from my device. I've checked all the Google Assistant settings on my device, but there are no settings for Ambient mode. I know that it is a feature that is slowly rolling out to more devices, but does that mean I have to wait until it's widely available? Anyone else here who has experienced this? [link] [comments] |

How can I disable notifications blasting in my ear when I'm on the phone? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 11:53 AM PST I can't find anywhere to disable this. It's fucking annoying. I am on a pixel3a, and I use Textra. I want to receive notifications, BUT do not want them while I am on a call. Like it keeps vibrating or will just play the notification in my ear regardless if I have the phone set to silent or vibrate. I even have this disabled inside of Textra, and it still was playing my notification in my ear. [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to send a message as SMS without disabling chat features altogether? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 11:52 AM PST I'm using stock Android Messages. I'd like to be able to send SMS without having to go out to the settings menu to disable RCS. My girlfriend has a prepaid data plan and uses RCS on wifi, but her phone defaults to SMS on the go because her data is turned off. If I want to reply with SMS, I have to turn off chat features entirely. Is there a better way to do this? [link] [comments] |
Nokia 2.2 not downloading to microSD. Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:02 AM PST I could never find the setting to switch to downloading to my microSD so I just assumed it was disabled, but on the same day I downloaded an app and it went automatically to my microSD. So my next assumption was that it would automatically download to the SD when the Internal Storage started to run out but now it has stopped doing that, and as I said previously I can't find any settings that allow me to force downloads to go to the SD. It's running Android One updated to Android 9 btw. edit: oh and also I'm not too experienced with Android phones in particular so if I left out any important details please tell me. Gmail downloading non-picture files into Root folder. How do I delete? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:00 AM PST Hi all, Gmail seems to be dumping loads of files into some dark corner of my phone. Word can find them, file manager apps can't. It appears that they are in /data, which I think is off limits. Any way to sort this out without rooting my phone? I really want to clear out this junk. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Manual network selection broken? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 07:53 AM PST I'm living in a border region where my phone frequently switches to the abroad network in cases where the signal of my domestic operator fades. So I manually select my domestic network in the settings. However, my manual selection doesn't stick and my OnePlus 7 returns to automatic network selection once it loses signal of my domestic operator. This results in frequent connections with the abroad network and excruciating costs. Solutions I've tried: - manual switching networks: as described above, manual network selection doesn't stick - 3rd party apps: I found an app which warns me when I connect to an abroad network which isn't very helpful since by the time I get the warning, the connection has already been established and the costs have incurred Does anyone have a similar problem and possibly a working solution? Edit: I'm on Android 10, but I had the same problem already on Pie. Also consulted this archived thread which hasn't been very helpful [link] [comments] |
Android 10 Notifications - Unable to remove some Posted: 29 Jan 2020 11:39 AM PST Hello Everyone, so after getting OS update Android 10 on my Huawei P30 Pro I am unable to remove some notifications in notification feed when I swipe down. In the pictures in imgur you can see that application messenger is displaying over other applications, Messenger is supposed display over other apps as I am using the "bubble" for chat. In the older version of Android OS I had the same message which I removed and it never appered in the notification feed ever again. In this OS all I can do is just postpone to max 1hr; later it gets really annoying seeing this message every hour. Is there any fix how to remove this notification? I do want to have Messenger over other apps, I just want to remove this notification from feed that keeps saying that "Messenger is displaying over other apps..." + Also the message below is basically the same. **Sorry that all you can see is not in English, it is in Czech. Thank you for your help. [link] [comments] |
Account Action Required any apps attached to Gmail arent working Posted: 29 Jan 2020 11:10 AM PST Phone was working fine this morning, I take it out of my pocket and I have 2 new notifications saying "Account Action Required" for my 2 gmail addresses. I open the one and it tells me i was signed out of my gmail account and asks me to sign back in. I sign in, it loads for a second then gives me the same message. My Google search widget was gone and my Gmail icon was replaced by an android icon and was labeled "com.google.android.gm.MailMigrationApplication". If i clicked on it it would give me the same "you were signed out" message, and repeat the same process. I've cleared the cache and data and no luck. I tried to go to the Play Store but have the same "you've been signed out" issue there. Now I can't use Facebook, Youtube, the Samsung Browser, Chrome, or Reddit on my phone. Another of my apps was changed but I cant remember what it was originally, now it's "co.samsung.oh.MainApplication" Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
