| 4 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 134) Posted: 25 Jan 2020 09:33 AM PST Happy weekends, fellow mobile gamers :) This is my weekly summary of recommendations based on the games I played last week. Hope you'll enjoy. This week, I played a brand new strategy game that mixes Tower Defense with team-based RPG gameplay, a 2D MMORPG with merge gameplay elements, an awesome Mech shooter, and the first-ever Free to Play title from Ubisoft that has no pay-to-win, and yes, it's even set in the Might and Magic universe! Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 134 weeks ago here. The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is. Let's get to the games:Arknights [Game Size: 1.36 GB] (free)Genre: Tower Defense / RPG / Strategy / Gacha - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Arknights mixes Tower Defense combat and strategy with team-based RPG elements and "mana"-based unit deployment for a truly unique experience that I enjoyed more than anticipated. Instead of towers, the game has us deploy "Operators" to defend our base against the waves of incoming enemies, and because these Operators each have unique stats, attack patterns, and can be upgraded in various ways, the strategy and min-maxing runs really deep in Arknights. The game is polished and has a distinct visual style, but also features a gacha unlocking system for acquiring new Operators, and an energy system for campaign missions. Not a huge fan of the monetization, but it also hasn't limited my enjoyment of the game so far. If you like Tower Defense and RPGs, I think the game is worth checking out because of its unique gameplay experience. Google Play: Here YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here Grow Stone Online [Game Size: 308 MB] (free)Genre: MMORPG / 2D / Merge - Requires online Access Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Little tl;dr review: Grow Stone Online is a 2D MMORPG where our goal is to mine ores to collect stones, merge the stones to create higher-level stones, and use those stones as weapons to defeat monsters, bosses, and raids, which rewards us with gold to upgrade our character and craft items. The game is incredibly grindy, but mining and attacking can be automated through the game's auto system, effectively turning the game into more of an idle experience. I had fun with Grow Stone once I eventually found out how to play it. The UI is a mess, the English translation is bad, and the tutorial is difficult to follow. Despite that and the pay-to-win monetization, the game is highly addictive and it's worth checking out if you like merge games and 2D pixel MMORPGs. Google Play: Here YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here Super Mecha Champions [Total Game Size: 2.3 GB] (free)Genre: Shooter / Mech / Battle Royale - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Super Mecha Champions is a third-person shooter where we start out on our feet with normal weapons until we can eventually spawn our Mech and start blasting our opponents into oblivion - a bit like in Titanfall. The idea is intriguing, the graphics look great, each Mech feels distinct with its unique abilities and weapons, the controls are solid, and with both Battle Royale and normal game modes, the game has a lot of good things going for it. My main complaint with the game is that the Battle Royale map felt almost too big to be entertaining, as it sometimes takes 5-8 minutes to find your first opponent. Fortunately, the monetization is relatively relaxed, focusing mostly on unlocking new Mechs, much like in a MOBA. Google Play: Here YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here Might and Magic Chess Royale [Total Game Size: 438 MB] (free)Genre: Auto Chess / Strategy - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Might and Magic Chess Royale is an Auto Chess game set in the Might and Magic franchise, and surprisingly, it seems to be the first Free-to-Play title from Ubisoft with no Pay-to-Win. The game differentiates itself from others in the genre by having us face 100 opponents instead of the typical 8-10 opponents, and through allowing us to spend in-game gold on not just buying new units, but also spells, which enables us to customize our strategy more than in other Auto Chess games. Overall though, the gameplay experience doesn't feel much different from the competition, and while I had fun with the game, I don't know if there's a market for it. | Can I make my OUYA something besides a paper weight Posted: 25 Jan 2020 09:56 AM PST I have an OUYA that's been sitting around for years that I never touch and was wondering ways others have modded theirs so I can get some inspiration for mine. Mine is already modded but very slow and needs a fresh start so I'm open to suggestions. Many thanks AndroidGaming community. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 25 Jan 2020 05:25 AM PST I generally prefer games I can play in portrait mode. Luckily, there are lots of great ones. My favorites recently have been Antimatter Dimensions (those progress bars...), Shapelink, I Love Hue, You Must Build a Boat, and, as of a post here yesterday, Hoop League Tactics. There are lots of landscape games I enjoy too, but I find myself going to them less and less. What are your favorite portrait mode games? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 25 Jan 2020 08:12 AM PST I recently started playing Grimvalor and I'm having fun playing it. It's an RPG adventure/platformer game it's very similar to dark souls with epic boss fights and massive combat and the combats are very challenging and it's skill based you can upgrade your character by collecting the things that gives you each kill, it haves a good storyline with good graphics for a phone game and it supports controllers, you can play the first chapter for free buy the rest for like 3.99$ I think but trust me it's worth it for a game like this you can just give it a try by playing the first chapter which is 1-2hrs long and if you like it and then if you do you buy the rest of the chapters, here's the link for the game Grimvalor [link] [comments] | ||

| [DEV] Zombie Football is free for a limited time with a new update! Posted: 24 Jan 2020 09:14 PM PST Hey guys, I released my game Zombie Football 2 weeks ago, and I've been working on a mega update ever since. Today I finally released that update, and it adds a lot of new content - a survival mode, unlockable skins, 5 new levels, achievements, and a whole lot more. A lot of people mentioned that the controls were quite hard, so I also made it much smoother. And it will be free for a limited time! So feel free to install, kick back, and juke some zombies back into the grave :) Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.PixelPerfectStudios.ZombieFootball Join our discord: https://discord.gg/3baevqG [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 25 Jan 2020 11:03 AM PST After years of hard work (since 2014 on and off) I finally finished my physics puzzle game called Drop It: Block Paradise. I originally made it for the Nintendo Wii U (released it last month), and since it's a touch based puzzle game, I figured I also get it out for Android for more to play and enjoy. I released the game (both a paid $1.99 and a free version supported by Ads) about 2 weeks ago. Anyways, now that it's out, I'd like to to get impressions and feedback on the game. I'd love to see what people think about it, what they think could improve it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zenfaproductions.dropit - Paid Version ($1.99) [link] [comments] | ||

| Just make the dam game that advertised Posted: 25 Jan 2020 01:38 AM PST Why don't company just make the game they advertise the coding 8s their since they have a way to advertise it so why not just make the game instead of falsely advertising it for a bejewelled Clone. The games use to advertise fishdom, garden scape, townscape, home scape I would actually play not their physical game I bet someone would make alot of download for this type of game [link] [comments] | ||

| Looking for solution to Arknights black screen on startup and not starting the game Posted: 24 Jan 2020 10:23 PM PST Hi guys, I also did ask on the Arknight subreddit but given how it's drown with over 4k comments, it's pretty hard to get answer. I got the game through both qooapp and apkpure and it still couldn't start up. The weird thing is the CN version of the game runs completely fine. [link] [comments] | ||
