    Hisense 55H9F boot loop

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 04:07 PM PST

    Hi everyone,

Hoping for some help. Bought a Hisense H9F after reading rave reviews on it. Scoured BestBuy for a week to actually find one in stock.

Brought it home, set it up for store use mode and watched the trailer just fine. Had to go to a party, so I reset it out of store mode went to check for updates and it said there were none. I shut it off and came back about 4 hours later and it told me there was an update. I updated it and ever since it has been boot looping.

I called customer service and they sent me the manual update package, i update it and no change. I would just exchange it, but it's such a hot ticket item that no one has it.

Does anyone have any additional recommendations. I'm very familiar with unlocking android etc. so willing to dig into this a bit if anyone has the guidance to offer.

    Thanks so much in advance!

    -Dave

Does every Bluetooth enabled gamepad/controller work with any android box?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 12:06 PM PST

    Hi,

I own a mi box s. I am interested to know if any Bluetooth gamepad or controller would work with any android box model? I am actually interested to know the details as I assume it's model agnostic because it's using Bluetooth? Please correct me.

    Philips keyboard-remote, back button?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 12:13 AM PST

Hi all, i have a Philips PUS8303, with this remote. I can't find out how I use the keyboard-side without constantly flipping it around when I need to go back, and then I have to point the IR. The left arrow(top right corner) is just backspace.. has anyone found a back-key on this side?

Blokada & Jetstream Android TV Box

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 11:51 PM PST

Back again. I got what I needed (F-Droid issues notwithstanding), and that includes Blokada. But it just says it's deactivated and i don't know how to activate it. DuckDuckGo searching just sends me to fire TV installs or where to download which ofc is no help.

    So how do I activate?

New Android TV with ZEASN Launcher - Need Help

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 11:30 AM PST

Hello everyone, I live in Portugal and just bought a new smart TV, it's not from any major brand, I believe it is white label, once I started it I saw the normal AndroidTV logo and went through the configurations, my problem now is that I cant install certain apps, it comes with it's own "AppStore" but not Google PlayStore, so I used an APK and installed it but now it keeps crashing every time I try to install something. I think this is due to the ZEASN Launcher, the default launcher of the TV, which doesn't even let me access the default android settings, when I click settings it sends me to a settings menu with just a few options, next I installed ATV Launcher through the default app store , and once again when I tried to select device settings it sent me to the ZEASN settings. So basically my questions are.

Can I install a custom ROM? I believe the video board is something like this.

If I do flash a new ROM on it do I violate the warranty? Or is there any other option for me?

Android TV remembers only one wifi password?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 01:04 PM PST

Is it really so that we cannot tether different wifis to one tv at home? I just recently bought new tv and it was quite natural to buy android tv as we already have phones and tab as android devices. Currently we dont have fixed connection at home as it seems that mobile data is fast enough for kids to watch their stuff while me and wife looking netflix. There is quite often times when only one of us is at home and thats not an issue with tab or laptop to use either one of us phone as wifi hotspot. I thought that would be de facto function as it is in any android device to remember previously used networks. This TV will only remember one network at time. If my wife needs to use her phone for tethering she needs to enter password again. Whenever she had used it and I need to tether from my phone same again.

Is it really so crappy that it cant be done? It does not make any sense as that functionality is already in the android and that is implemented at so low level in software that it really should not matter if it is phone or tv. They have just decided to take that feature out for some stupid reason.

When will I be able to add Google photo albums to ambient mode?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 08:35 AM PST

I have a Sony Bravia Android TV and when ambient kicks in I only get stock photos, with a normal Chromecast or a home hub I can add photo albums

    Android TV is garbage

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 07:35 PM PST

I'm a big fan of the droid, google not so much, but I am of Android. But Android TV is just...well....a bit shit. I purchased a Mi Box S and found that there were bugger all options in the Android TV Play Store (not sure if that was just because I live in NZ), I sideloaded a couple of apps and they came up on a horizontal view and so were unworkable. I got Netflix and Spotify ok, but the interface is cluttered and a bit rubbish really when you compare to an Apple TV. I really wish google would invest some of it's not insignificant resources to Android TV and make it a serious competitor to Apple in this space. My wife and daughter are not so tech savvy so they find andoid tv just a waste of time, why use when you plug in a Apple TV and it just works (minus Spotify of course...).
