Amazon prime video not working in India

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 05:33 AM PST

From past week my Amazon prime video isn't working. Whenever I try to play something it gives me an error saying something wrong happened. I have a TCL iFFALCON android tv and had sideloaded Amazon prime video apk which worked well since past 3 months. My TV isn't officially certified to have the prime video. Anyone facing the similar issue or have any workaround to make it work.

I'm thinking to log in via pufin browser for TV and see if I can watch videos from TV browser.

How do I know if I have a real Android TV Box?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 07:36 AM PST

This is the one I bought, and it claims to be Google certified as you can see. Can I be sure that is the case. The truth is I bought it and I immediately returned it the next day because it failed to meet some of my expectations. One of which was that I assumed that any app that's available in the playstore on a table or Android phone, would be available on Android TV. I'm talking apps like Firefox, Chrome, Proton VPN, which is my VPN Provider, the news app I use to watch the news every day, but alas no.

The salesmen who clearly don't know their stuff told me that any Android app I can have on an Android phone, I will find for Android TV. They were wrong.

At first I thought those apps missing was specific to the the device I bought, so I tested other Android boxes in the store and saw that the apps I use were missing too. I then thought maybe it's because these Android boxes are Chinese. So I went to the Apple store to test Apple TV, and see if my apps would be there but they weren't.

So it turns out that just because app is available in the playstore doesn't mean it will be available for Android TV. This means that we have to pressure the developers of these very mainstream apps, to develop them for Android TV & tvOS (Apple). I honesty don't know what they are waiting for. Especially the news streaming apps that have been around for years.

I've got an old laptop from 2011: can I turn it into an Android TV box?

Just curious how that would work out. It's a lime green Sony VAIO with 4gb of RAM, an Intel i5 (dual core I think) and integrated graphics.

    Jetstream or Mi Box?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 02:35 PM PST

I own a shield already but need a box that won't break the bank and is wife approved for a 1080p bedroom TV. Which one do you recommend ? I own the first gen Mi Box and it was fine until it recently croaked . I'm using Roku now but it misses a few things that I need on Android TV. A deciding factor can be the remote if I can program one for my TV.
