Posted: 05 Dec 2019 05:24 PM PST I know about Vanced. I'm way behind on non-root tricks because it's been so long. (So I realize this may be an annoying question) Basically life has hit a skid and the only phone I can currently afford that isn't busted is an s9. Not bad for what it's worth, but it's North American so the bootloader is staying locked until I can turn this little life around and get something else. The kinda stuff I used root for was stuff like: - Ad avoidance, Wakelock fidgeting, battery charge capping, editing build.prop to allow casting to almost anything, Xposed stuff, app/Homescreen tweaks, Power button options, wifi password recovery (I'll have to take the loss for that feature until 10 gets released for the s9), etc. (**or anything you generally think is kinda awesome. - It's still a "new" phone and they're always fun to fiddle with, so if you have a favourite.. let's hear it..) Anyway, thanks in advance. Hope you're all well. [link] [comments] |
Screen turning on automatically when moved Posted: 06 Dec 2019 04:33 AM PST Hey. I have a Moto One Zoom. It's a good phone, I like it. However when I put it on a table, screen up, it turns the screen on whenever the phone is moved even slightly. Like, if a car goes by, the screen lights up. How do I turn this off? Posted: 06 Dec 2019 09:52 AM PST I'm trying to use the Swift Installer app to customize my LG stylo 5 more but it says it needs root access. How would I go about rooting my phone? Will I lose all my data on the phone? Is it safe to do? What are the risks involved and is it worth it? [link] [comments] |
Phone not accepting screenlock pattern Posted: 06 Dec 2019 12:36 AM PST So i have a moto g5 plus on which i installed a custom os rom(PixelExperience). I put a lock pattern which looks like W. Then i flashed another custom rom (Arrow OS) and also changed the pattern to a different one - M. But still on startup, it asks for the pattern and it will only take the old one (W). Huh weird. Now flashed a 3rd custom rom(EvolutionX), and it will not accept either of the patterns to start the device. If i flash the 2nd rom, I can still use the patterns (W to start, M to unlock normally). I don't understand how this happened. I even tried unchecking the option for needing pattern for startup when i installed 2nd OS, but still it keeps asking for pattern for startup. How to clear the pattern and disable the need for pattern for startup? [link] [comments] |

Wireless keyboard functionality on a tablet Posted: 06 Dec 2019 01:51 AM PST I recently bought a wireless keyboard with an integrated touchpad from Microsoft (the All-In-One version). I connected it via a dongle onto my Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2019) and it works just fine for basic stuff. The keys under the touchpad though, they don't work properly, only the left click button works as it should, the right click is registered as back button. Gesture controls on the touchpad aren't supported, they don't get recognized on the tablet as if I would do them with my fingers directly on the screen. My question is: Is there an app that would allow me to customize the keyboard inputs to be registered as some functions, or like macros? Basically, I want to customize the inputs from the keyboard touchpad to be registered on the tablet as the native gestures from the Android on the tablet, and to customize the key inputs. Any help would be appreciated! [link] [comments] |

Why are ONLY certain apps not working ONLY on my phone and ONLY on wifi? Posted: 06 Dec 2019 03:18 AM PST I had problems with my wifi and my router was changed yesterday. Since then, twitter, reddit, pinterest and Netflix are suddenly not working on my phone. Everything else works perfectly, and my roommate can use the apps on her phone with no problem. I can also enter twitter, netflix, etc... In my computer and they also work perfectly there. I've googled this issue and many other people have had this problem but I can't seem to find a way to fix it. The only way I can use these apps while on wifi is by using a VPN. I'm not very tech savvy and I need some help to solve this since I don't have the money to pay for a VPN and I'm only using a free 500mb one right now. Help, please? EDIT: I'm on a Mi A1 if that's any help [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Dec 2019 09:06 PM PST A few days ago I downloaded and installed the Android system update, and about 24 hours later I noticed that the Messages app has changed its appearance from to one that looks like something out of 2008. Here is a screenshot of what I'm used to. Some text samples have been unredacted to show font characteristics: https://i.imgur.com/al82MEc.png This is what it looked like after the update (same contact): https://i.imgur.com/v96rNgz.png Yeah, I don't know what happened. It's like the app has rolled back to an earlier version, but it's never looked like this before, and some features are gone, like the ability to change contact color (the update reset all my contact colors to mostly yellow and pink. I hate yellow.) The application version was 3.7.052 at the time of this screenshot. I decided to update the app to see that would fix the issue. I created a Google account and downloaded & installed the official version of the app from the Play store, but this did not change the appearance of the GUI. Here's what I'm seeing now: https://i.imgur.com/xf6pdpc.png The new app version is 5.2.062. This is the first time I've updated the app itself since getting the phone in December of 2018, but the update has not restored the look or lost features. I'm at my wits' end on this. My searches are hamstrung by the difficulty of describing the problem in easy keywords, and I don't know if a default app can be uninstalled and reinstalled (I also don't know how to do that without losing my old messages). Any suggestions would be helpful, though I'm not very familiar with phones or Android software, so I'll need some tutorials for anything very technical. Other details: Phone is a LG Rebel (4, I think), service is trough Tracfone (AT&T?). Android version is 8.1.0 I don't really use my phone for anything other than calls, texts, and web browsing, so I haven't downloaded any apps in over 6 months, I doubt that's a contributing factor. Let me know if I'm missing any needed details. Thank you for looking. [link] [comments] |

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 (wifi variant) doesn't show up all the available WiFi network Posted: 05 Dec 2019 11:14 PM PST As title says, just bought the device and it only picks up like 1 or 2 networks (not always) from like 10 available ones. However, this problem is really apparent in my college dorms as I can't pick up any of the 10 or so different wifi networks available making my tablet practically useless in dorms. Is this a software problem? or a hardware one? When I was at my home I was able to find my home network easily (but then again, it still didn't show up all the networks that shows on my phone) p.s : Hotspot networks always show up, but when I switch the hotspot from using Data to using the WiFi it disappears from the list p.s.s : the tablet is running the latest update available for me (November 2019 / T860XXS1ASK2) p.s.s.s : tried wiping cache and even hard formatting the device. apps from an external source dont show up Posted: 06 Dec 2019 02:43 AM PST I just got my new phone and was forced out of my old games, I picked up my pirate hat and started downloading some games. The games I installed (and all externally installed apps for that matter) wont show up on my home screen. I had this issue before with an old phone where I had to restart after installing for them to show up but that is not the case here, is there a solution for this? maybe an app that can launch other apps? Thanks for the help in advance Edit: I'm using a nokia 4.2 with android 9 pie on it Edit2: I sure hope I wont get banned for mentioning piracy, oops [link] [comments] |
Note 5 to P30 Pro, Mate 30 pro 5g or Note 10+ 5g Posted: 06 Dec 2019 02:11 AM PST (Saudi Arabia & Middle East) At this point, I have 3 options ( or maybe you can help me to pick something better?):1- P30 Pro and Mate 30 pro 5g: I want to try something new, I used Samsung for a long time and this where I want to change that. For P30 I think it is cheaper and has many features, but Mate 30 is newer and probably has new features(?) and we are about to get 5g in my area so I think it is better for me to get this one. 2- Note 10+ 5g: Since I used Note 5 for a long time, it might be hard to change to something that is not a note. Posted: 06 Dec 2019 01:05 AM PST I got an xbox wireless controller and with it i'm able to move within my homescreen, open an app, and return home, but that's it. How do I stop Android 6.0.1 from disconnecting from captive portals? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 08:07 PM PST I have a Galaxy S5 with the stock Android 6.0.1 ROM. When it connects to WiFi which requires logging in or just agreeing on a web page before getting Internet access, it disconnects. Then I have to connect to the same network a second time to actually log in. This is especially bad if I keep WiFi turned off normally and only turn it on when I want to use it. If I had it on, chances are the phone already tried to connect to open networks I used before, and all that's left is the reconnection. According to various info about Android in general, in an ADB shell I need to run Newer versions of Android have So, what am I supposed to do to turn off this annoying Android "feature"? BTW The WiFi Web Login app can automatically handle captive portals, including logging in with a username and password if necessary, and recording custom actions for particular networks. If it wasn't for this stupid disconnection, my phone would be automatically connecting and logging in to WiFi. [link] [comments] |
