Why does Google make it so complicated to simply swipe away notifications?

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 09:27 AM PST

Why does Google care if I always swipe one away? I already saw it. So I swiped it. Why would I need to keep it or why would I want to hide future notifications? I just want to remove a notification after I've viewed it, is that so hard?

Updated S10e, now phone is stuck rebooting.

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 06:54 AM PST

Hey guys, Hoping someone can help with this very frustrating issue I'm having. Phone is stuck on a loop where it keeps restarting. Boots, shows home screen for 2 seconds, then immediately restarts again. Same when I start in safe mode.

I tried wiping the cache as per this guide But didnt work.

If I want to re-try installing android from bootloader, where can I download the package from? Any good guides for this?

Hard-bricked Oneplus. No fastboot, adb, MSM available!

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 03:29 AM PST

    Hello everyone!

I recently tried to fully reinstall LineageOS on my Oneplus 6T, but ran into a severe problem. The phone now completely freezes at the screen that says 'bootloader unlocked'. No commands or buttons work, and the only way to shutdown, restart or get any kind of response is to wait for the battery to run out.

ADB, fastboot and MSM is unavailable, since it freezes to early for the device to be recognized. Recovery mode is also unavailable, since the phone, for some reason, automatically starts as soon as it has enough energy to do so; there is no opportunity to 'hold the volume-down and power-button'.

After having unlocked the bootloader, I executed the following commands in fastboot:

fastboot flash boot twrp-image.img fastboot boot twrp-image.img

The phone then booted into fastboot-mode, but froze (similar to above) when showing the 'fastboot-mode'-screen. After waiting for the battery to run out, it now freezes as specified above.

I really appreciate all kinds of advices and help. Thank you in advance!

S10+ updated to Android 10, now music library is screwed up (Samsung Music)

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 01:36 AM PST

Hey everyone. So my s10+ got updated yesterday to android 10 and it works good, except now a handful of albums and artists are mistagged and missorted..

I have a lot of music/audio files on my phone (probably about 300GB) and I had my library all setup nice, it took me weeks to get it transferred over fully. Now with android 10, samsung music is sorting so albums weird, where in album artist view itll sort an album by just "artist" and it some have single tracks separate from an album as a new artist with the exact same name.. (duplicate artist names but one single track from an album is in one artist and the rest of the album is in the other). And I also have about 32 albums that were fine before that are now under "unknown artist" even when I hook it to a computer and check the files, all the id3 tags are intact.

I've tried clearing the cache, ejecting and reopening my sd card, device restarts, deleting and then adding the album again with a slightly different name (sometimes changing the name slightly has worked for me to get a new version of the album to show up) and still nothing works.

It also takes ages to rescan my library, as would make sense.

Anyways, I'm doubting anyone has any advice because I've kind of exhausted all options here but this is pretty frustrating as I use my phone as my main music device when I'm not at my computer (a lot of the time). If anyone does have any advice, please let me know. Thank you.

Pixel 4 XL black screen, clock and battery flash

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 06:07 AM PST

I have a US, AT&T Pixel 4 XL. Completely stock everything, brand spanking new, no drops or damages.

The Problem: Phone was completely fine last night, it was at 80% charge and working perfectly when I went to bed. When I woke up and looked at my phone this morning, the issue had occurred. The screen is mostly black, the only pixels displaying are the clock in the top left and battery icon in the top right. When the screen is "on" it just flashes those icons over and over. When I click the lock button to lock the device, it goes completely black.

Found a user on YouTube with the same issue (30 seconds in): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y8M-Gvpzlk

Other users with no fix: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/18800467?hl=en https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/22193147?hl=en#

What I've done so far: I have hard rebooted, to no effect. I contacted Google support and they had me reset the phone to factory settings, which I thought fixed the problem. After the reset the phone functioned perfectly and I left the chat. Immediately after locking the phone for the first time after the reset, the problem occurred again...flashing.

I contacted Google support again later in the morning and through testing multiple times have confirmed that it only breaks once the phone locks even once after a factory reset. I used the phone for 15-20 minutes with no issues, but as soon as I locked it for the first time, it started flashing. Google had no answers but to call AT&T and use my warranty for a new phone.

I'm not 100% convinced I need a new phone because the error happened over night and with no physical damage. This leads me to believe it is a software issue.

Before I waste time getting a new phone, does anyone have any ideas or advice for this problem?

    Thanks so much.

    Edit: Formatting

    Separate Bluetooth/3.5mm equalizer settings?

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 06:26 AM PST

Hi everyone, I have very different speakers for both my bluetooth device, and my wired headphones (with a USB-C adapter), and I'd like to be able to set independent profiles for an equalizer, specifically disable it for the bluetooth device. Is there any apps that can do this? I am not rooted.

Edit: Not a music player, I already use Spotify.

Galaxy j5 won't get past the startup screen!

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 02:20 AM PST

Today as I was cleaning I accidentally sprayed some power cleaner onto my galaxy j5 phone, the cleaner went from the screen straight onto the power button located on the side.
Immediately my phone began acting weird, the screen froze and the power/reset buttons appeared on my screen. But I couldn't click anything.

So I took the battery out and placed it back in to restart it, but now it won't even get past the startup screen.
It just turns on, shows the startup screen, vibrates and then turns itself off again.
Then it repeats the same process over and over again

For now I've put it in rice without the battery, hoping that it'll fix the problem.
But i'm really worried that it may not work again, is my phone a goner?

Please Help! I may have goofed up big time

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:56 AM PST

Non of my Google play store apps were updating (they were getting stuck at pending) which is a pretty common thing and usually it's easily fixed by clearing the cache or restarting my phone. However, today this wasn't working so I checked out so for some help online and read somewhere that uninstalling updates for Google play services and redownloading the updates could help. So I uninstalled the updates and searched for Google play services on my browser, but when I tried to update it, the download got stuck at pending just like before and now I'm stuck unable to update anything at all and I'm worried about what else I may have screwed up. Any help or info would be appreciated. The model of my phone is the OnePlus 3T and if it makes any difference I haven't downloaded the latest system update so far.

Updated to Android 10 on S10+ - now there's a gap underneath my keyboard

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 05:45 AM PST

I noticed that other people were seeing a gap, but my gap is obviously one for a button that you can use to switch between keyboards. I'm fine with the feature I guess, for other people that need it, but why enable it by default? To make things worse, I cannot find the option to disable it, so now my muscle memory has to readjust for this extra space. :/ Anybody else having this issue?

Note: This appears with every keyboard I use.

    Separate phone and bluetooth volume

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:16 AM PST

I‎'ve had a Samsung Galaxy s10 for about a week, and my bluetooth headphones(Trekz titanium) for almost a year. With my last phone(iPhone6s), the volume on my headphones was separate from the phone's volume, so there was more control over the volume level. When I‎ got my S10, the volumes merged so adjusting the phone's volume changed the headphones volume at the same time. I‎ was able to fix this with a certain setting, but after my phone updated last night, this setting seems to have disappeared. I've looked on the internet for solutions and tried some bluetooth volume control apps, none seem to work for my current device. This wouldn't be so bad, but every time the bluetooth volume is adjusted, it makes a beep noise, so whenever I‎ use the volume buttons on my phone, I'm greeted with an annoying beep, which is likely to drive me crazy. Is there any way I‎ can separate the phone and headphone volume, or at least stop the beeping somehow?

Should I not purchase a phone just because its a Chinese company?

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:16 AM PST

I was looking at the OnePlus 7 Pro as my next phone. Im concerned with all the security issues and spying by the Chinese government going on that we've been hearing in the news lately.

Is this a legitimate reason not to buy it. Like if I use the phone for banking, will they be able to keep my fingerprint/bank info etc?

If it makes a difference, I live in North America.

Is there a way to prevent predictive text from learning new words automatically?

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:15 AM PST

I know I can manually make it forget words, but it isn't worth it if it's just going to relearn 'thw' every time I type it wrong once

Accidentally flashed Lineage OS in Magisk manager app

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 01:31 AM PST

    Hello all, only me again...

As per the title, just installed lineage 16.0, poking around on the Magisk manager app, tapped the plus symbol under the module tab and somehow managed to touch the lineage .zip file (actually I did it on purpose just to test but I thought it would ask me to confirm!) and without warning, boom! it just installed it as a module (I think?) the log came up and it ran through the installation anyway. I rebooted the device and it seems to have made absolutely no difference, but my particular nature is making me want to find wherever it's been installed and remove it to avoid any potential problems in the future, but it's not showing up in the Magisk manager app.

    Would someone kindly advise.

I keep updating and installing the same update?

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 05:14 AM PST

I own a HTC Desire 626 and hadn't updated it in a long time. I thought it might be wise to finally do it. I didn't pay much attention to what was on my screen and thought it was annoying I'd have to install every single update because after every (supposed) update I'd get a notification a new one was available.

After doing this about 3 times I noticed it said Android 6.0 is available to download and install. So I checked my phone's current Android version, which is 5.1.

So I update it to 6.0 again and behold... It says 6.0 is available to download and install and my phone is still 5.1.

Am I doing something wrong or does my phone simply not support any of the more "recent" updates and it's time to buy a new phone?

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 10:23 AM PST

I have a samsung s10e and my battery life is being really bad unless a device care notification pops up saying: The following app or process is overloading you system: com.google.android.gms.persistent. That allows me to close app and battery improves, but after some time it starts draining battery again. How can i keep this closed constantly?

How to disable phone speaker notification while using Bluetooth earpods in Realme XT?

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 09:51 AM PST

I am getting notification sounds both on my phone speaker and my bluetooth earpods.

I don't want this to happen. When I am connected to the earpods, I only want the notification sounds to appear in my earpods.

This is mainly because, while I am listening to music over my earpods, if I receive a notification, the tone buzzes first on the phone, then in my earpod and then the music that I am listening to starts playing over the phone speaker for a few seconds before shifting back to the earpods. This is extremely annoying. Please help me.

Nexus 5x gboard crashed and now I can't unlock phone

    Posted: 17 Dec 2019 09:44 AM PST

Since google cancelled support for their Nexus phones my google apps have been going a little crazy. Everything on my phone still works fine though, until yesterday. I restarted my phone and on restarting I have to input my password to unlock the phone. Unfortunately, with the gboard crashing the keyboard won't pop up and I can't type in my password. I know it may be time to get a new phone, but is there anyway to get into my old one to access/save my old data? Again, there's nothing wrong with the phone at all except that the keyboard won't pop up, so I can't log in.

So far Geek Squad was unable to help, and since Google cancelled their support for Nexus I can't even ask the question there.
