Posted: 05 Dec 2019 06:34 AM PST My wife is doing what the subject says and I'm helping her. I have a quick and specific question that Google search doesn't seem to answer. And a general question asking opinions. I've seen that there are a few ways to transfer data from an iPhone to an Android phone, in this case a Samsung. When using Google Drive, it looks like everything gets put into Google's ecosystem in the Android side. But I also see that Samsung has a "Smart Switch" app that does everything (presumably faster) over a cabled connection. My question is, where does the data land on the Android phone? Are there Samsung-specific apps that contacts, calendar events, etc get moved into? Or does it still use Google contacts, Google Calendar, etc? Or does it ask which app you'd like to import into? Have you made the switch and, in your experience, what's the best way to do it? For what it's worth, my wife already uses Google everything on her iPhone (Calendar, Gmail, Photos, etc), save for iMessages obviously. [link] [comments] |

Receiving/Making calls cuts out mobile data until phone restart Posted: 05 Dec 2019 10:30 AM PST Every time I make or receive a phone call, my mobile data kicks out. It's still enabled, but I will have no internet access until I restart my phone. A quirk relating to this same issue is that often when someone calls me, I do not receive the call, not even in missed calls. I only know I have been called because my internet cuts out. I am often on mobile hotspot. This problem is crippling, I'd appreciate any help. It did not do this when the phone was new. Galaxy S10 [link] [comments] |

GSM AT&T won't work with CDMA sprint Posted: 05 Dec 2019 10:08 AM PST I bought a Sprint LG V30 (I'm from Mexico btw) I am At&t, so when I inserted my sim into the phone, the data doesn't work, i can make and receive phone calls tho. I tried inserting my sim into my brother's Moto X4 and the data worked perfectly. I think it's because Sprint use CDMA and AT&T use GSM. Anyone got a solution for this? Thank you [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to put inactive apps to sleep, yet receive push notifications with no delay impact? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 12:15 PM PST A finest example: reddit mobile. I've been scrolling through memes too much that it used half of the battery throughout the last week, probably because I minimised the app letting it run in background instead of closing it. If I understand this correctly, putting an app to sleep makes it freeze whenever I minimise it, as well as the notifications get paused until I run an app next time. But can it be changed? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 11:25 AM PST So I managed to pick up a refurbished Razer Phone 1 today directly from Razer for under $100 USD. I felt it was a no brainer as I'm currently using an iPhone 6S and could use an upgrade, especially for that price point. However, I'm a little bit concerned with the lack of security updates and was wondering how big of a problem is this really? Should I be worried about this to the point where I should think twice before logging into my google/facebook/twitter/email account? I'm not sure how this stuff works as I've always been an iPhone user on the latest iOS update, so any support would be appreciated! The phone is currently on Android 9.0 [link] [comments] |
Google Drive App glitchy animations. Posted: 05 Dec 2019 11:12 AM PST This is not a new "bug", it's been like this for me ever since the app was updated to the new design. Every time i open a folder, there is an animation expanding from said folder but then the screen briefly flashes with an image of the previous window. Here is a video showing it: https://i.imgur.com/jy4N7Ia.mp4I can't find a single post online of someone complaining about this. I wonder, does this only affect some people? The few friends i asked confirmed it's like that for them too. Is there anybody in here that doesn't suffer from this? If so, what phone and android version do you have? [link] [comments] |
51 apps updated overnight! WTH happened? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 05:10 AM PST Was there a major security issue that affected lots of apps? A new OS requires updates? I'm used to overnight updates, but 51, wow. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Dec 2019 11:01 AM PST Hello guys, phone is a Samsung A5 2017, whenever i plug it in at around 20% battery left it reverse charges, it goes all the way down to 0% then it charges normally. Posted: 05 Dec 2019 06:23 AM PST I have eye problems, and have set all my screens dark. I was reading something on a black screen just now, when my daughter sends an SMS. It's super white and just blinding. I stopped reading to ask for help here. That was the last straw (I've been putting off aggressively finding a solution). Minutes later I'm still seeing white in my vision.

Sudden battery issue with Note 5 Posted: 05 Dec 2019 07:46 AM PST I know it's an old device, but my note 5 hasnt really had any issues in the 3 or so years I've had it until recently. I have been getting messages about weak battery charging yesterday with no idea whats causing it, and now it isnt charging correctly. It stayed stuck at 83% for hours when plugged in. I tried troubleshooting by changing the cord, the outlet, the wall plug, rebooting, charging while off, in safe mode, and cleaning the charging port. I decided to keep it off and plugged in while I slept and it made it up to 90%. I unplugged it and turned it on and that quickly dropped to 88 and I've been watching it steadily drop to 84 while typing this. I'm nervous to recalibrate in case it doesnt charge again. I'm ready to try a factory reset but I'd appreciate any advice first. [link] [comments] |
Does MAC Randomization work on a Per Session or Per SSID basis? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 07:44 AM PST I'm setting up a new device and I'm seeing MAC Randomization settings for the first time (I realize it's been around for a bit). I cannot find concrete information to answer my subjected question; does the randomization occur for each connection session or only once for each unique SSID? There are a handful of networks this device will be whitelisted on by MAC. Can I still randomize on my initial connection to these networks, submitting the randomized MAC for the whitelist, or will a new randomized MAC be generated with each new session? I could not find this answer in Google forums or on Reddit to date. [link] [comments] |
Why can't I see the names of devices when connecting to Bluetooth? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 01:45 AM PST Someone else had this issue but it didn't get answered: this I have a Note 9 and have had it since I got it a year ago. It would be super helpful to get an answer on how to fix it. [link] [comments] |
Power management problems with android 9 on Galaxy s9 plus Posted: 05 Dec 2019 12:22 PM PST Using android 8. With the Always Sleeping and Unmonitored Apps settings Or with Greenify after I set all the adb permissions. I could get ok battery life and have apps important to me running in the background. (I think Greenify was best.) After a couple month a9, keeps getting worse, doing things I don't want and I can't find anyway to undo them. By worse I mean not letting apps I want running in the background, mostly. My Question is: Can I fix all the help a9 has given me or turn it completely off and go back to Greenify Tony [link] [comments] |
Removing "slide to unlock" on 8.1 Posted: 05 Dec 2019 12:15 PM PST I've seen the sites that say: Setting -> Security&Location -> Device security -> Screen lock -> None and it's still not doing what I want. I only use this for phone calls, nothing else. When the phone rings, I have to unlock the screen. I used to just look at it and see who's calling and slide up to answer. Now, I can't see who's calling unless I slide to unlock the screen. 90% of the calls are robo calls and I don't want to unlock to dismiss when I can just swipe down. It used to work this way, but something changed and I can't figure out how to keep the phone unlocked. I have no need for a slide to unlock on this phone. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Textra Sound Notification Issue Posted: 05 Dec 2019 12:08 PM PST I switched from a pixel 2 to a 2 xl. I can't for the life of me, get the notification sound to work on the pixel 2 xl using Textra. I downloaded other messaging apps and the notifications work in those apps, so I know there is nothing wrong with the phone. It seems like I am missing a setting somewhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Best way to charge smartphone to prolong battery life? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 11:51 AM PST I just got a new smartphone but I haven't taken it out of the box yet. I want to do everything possible to prolong the life of the battery. I already keep the number of apps on my phone to a minimum, reduce the screen brightness, and have location settings off. I've seen videos on YouTube which state that you shouldn't charge your phone to 100%, but they didn't have a source listed and anyone can post a video, regardless if they know what they are talking about. WiFi Notification Stopped Appearing Posted: 05 Dec 2019 05:48 AM PST At my work my IT Dept gave me a personal login for one of the company's WiFi connections to use on my Galaxy S7. Everything was fine at first... when I went in to work I had a notification that there was my WiFi connection available...I'd select that notification and was taken to a specific company WiFi login screen. About 2 weeks ago that notification screen stopped appearing...so I went into the WiFi settings on my phone and selected my connection and typed in the password but it wouldn't accept the password because it was one character to short and the connection button remained greyed out. It went to chrome and manually went to the login site but now my login u/p is incorrect. IT gave me a new login but it doesn't work either way. Ideas??? [link] [comments] |
Voice Assistant sometimes lags before it starts recording my voice Posted: 04 Dec 2019 08:10 PM PST When I hold down the home button to bring up Google Assistant, it used to start recording instantly. Now the window still comes up instantly and shows the word "Listening..." but the four colored dots at the bottom are motionless which means it's not actually recording. I have to wait 4-5 seconds for the dots to do their little swaying thing. And this only happens about 50% of the time. [link] [comments] |
