| Posted: 21 Dec 2019 01:57 AM PST I can connect to my home wifi just fine (even now) Place 1: mall Details: you connect to the wifi network without password and a webpage of the mall opens up and you need to tap the "conne t" button on the webpage to start 1 hour free wifi. Who: me and my siblings' phones all have the same error (obtaining ip address) Place 2: restaurant Details: wifi network is similar to a regular home wifi (with password) Who: both me and my friend gave our phones to the resto owner for her to type the wifi password. My friend connected to the wifi successfully but mine is also stuck at 'obtaining ip address" I'm not sure if the problem is on my phone or the wifi networks of said places. What is the source of these problems? Or are they 2 different situations? Please help me fix the issue. I frequent those places. [link] [comments] |
| Moto G4 has lost all audio capability Posted: 21 Dec 2019 10:41 AM PST I have a Motorola G4 4th generation unlocked phone running Android 7.0. I'm on FreedomPop free service and have been using the same phone since November 2017 without any significant issues. If any other information would be helpful, please let me know. A couple of days ago, I received a phone call which essentially frozen up my phone. It wouldn't stop vibrating, I couldn't unlock it and ended up having to power it down. Since then I had a Gboard error which was fixed by an app update but the bigger issue is I have no audio. Any app that uses audio gives me an error:
I have restarted a number of times, tried to do a system update but none were available, I don't have any recent backups I could fall back on either. Regular headphones, audio jacks, and Bluetooth headphones have not been able to output any audio either. I'm just looking for any ideas I can try to resolve the issue before I submit to doing a factory reset and/or getting a new phone. I can still control the volume and all other apps on the phone are working normally. [link] [comments] |

| Can somebody point me to a way to use a bluetooth headset as bluetooth headphones? Posted: 21 Dec 2019 10:03 AM PST So I have this bluetooth headset that is good as headphones but the microphone is worse than if it didn't have one. I would really love to be able to use these headphones for calls without having to use its microphone. So far I've found a handful of apps for forcing audio to different routes but couldn't find one that would allow me to still use the headphones (through bluetooth) for calls but use the internal microphone of the phone, or at least couldn't find that option in any of them. Right now my phone is rooted with magisk and running android 10 in a custom rom called pixel experience. [link] [comments] |
| Rooting a Huawei Y6 II Compact(or LYO-L21) Posted: 21 Dec 2019 06:48 AM PST I have this phone for almost 3 years, and I want to root it because I only have Android 5.1, it is getting slower and slower, and some apps are running in the background( aliexpress for example) and I can't stop them, because I need root. Is there any way to root this phone? I want to unlock the bootloader too, but Huawei ended support for this feature on their website, and I want a failsafe in case the rooting goes wrong. If someone can help me with a step by step tutorial, it would be nice. [link] [comments] |

| Possible fake internal storage? Posted: 21 Dec 2019 01:00 AM PST I bought a cheap tablet that was listed as having 64gb of internal storage. In the Android settings it says 64gb or close to it. But I installed a file manager that says 16gb. Is it possible to fake it in the Android settings? Is there an app that can test this? Can anyone recommend a cheap legit tablet with 32 or 64 internal storage? Thanks [link] [comments] |
| How to turn off app suggestions? Posted: 21 Dec 2019 11:37 AM PST Android just updated and it reset some of my nova launcher settings. In the bottom on the quick toolbar where you have the switch between apps, home, and back button - the switch between apps when pressed shows you recent apps but ALSO a list of suggested apps. I always fat finger these when using my phone (s10+). How do I disable those again? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 21 Dec 2019 11:27 AM PST I'm really hoping you guys can help me out, because I'm at my wit's end here. I bought an LG V40 just a few days ago. It's AT&T branded but came to me unlocked. However, because it was initially carrier locked to AT&T, all software updates and security patch updates come from them and not from LG (at least not directly). Some people have suggested borrowing a friend's AT&T sim card just to receive the updates, which is a good temporary solution but once I go back to Europe after the holidays I'll be faced with the same problem of missing future security and software updates. I've tried LG Bridge as well but it doesn't work for AT&T devices. The last option I've heard is flashing the ROM, but I'm not sure that would work and unlocking the bootloader on LG phones is apparently a massive pain. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. | Excessive nonspecific data usage by hotspot phone? Posted: 21 Dec 2019 11:10 AM PST I'm using an old Blu 4.0 phone as a hotspot for a 4 unit door intercom system that runs on wifi, using a prepaid 1gb data only account. I should be fine, the video door system only uses 60kB/s for the few seconds it's operating, and none when it's not. I have background data use turned off, and no other active apps. Yet it's using too much data, way more than a regular phone would. The app I'm using to study the usage does not assign it to anything other than OS. Does a hotspot consume data with "handshaking" and such at a higher rate than just phone use? Does anyone know an app that creates a database file of bandwidth usage so I can graph and study usage over a several day period? Or any other tools I can use to figure this out? [link] [comments] |
| (Galaxy Fold) Something keeps activating LTE while on wifi and I believe its straining my battery Posted: 20 Dec 2019 06:03 PM PST Not sure what setting or app I have that keeps activating LTE while I'm on wifi (wifi calling enabled too) but its driving me nuts. I'll see the LTE symbol appear for minutes at a time and disappear, reappear etc all while connected to wifi. I have mo unusual app seeing according to the battery stats. Any ideas where to start? | Music/audio apps randomly pause on galaxy s10+ Posted: 21 Dec 2019 09:50 AM PST Hi all, this issue starting popping up a few months ago. Pandora, Spotify, tune in etc will all randomly pause or just close entirely. I have tried a factory reset, verified these apps are not battery optimized and are allowed background activity (though it almost looks like that setting is ignored, they have almost no background usage) uninstalled/reinstalled etc with no luck. These apps even pause while I'm actively using another app. Anyone have ideas? Starting to think it's the phone at this point. [link] [comments] |
| Importing "app data usage" information to a spreadsheet or something like that Posted: 20 Dec 2019 07:32 PM PST When you go to settings, you can see how much data you use for each apps. Is there a way you can import that list to a spreadsheet or text file? I want to see my monthly data usage [link] [comments] |
| Do the Settings/attributes changed using ADB, stay after factory resetting the device? Posted: 21 Dec 2019 04:13 AM PST If I Reset my phone that I have disabled many system apps like Samsung Pay and Game booster etc in, will those app/services continue to stay disabled or will they reinstate their state? Thanks [link] [comments] |
| Can you filter incoming calls? Posted: 21 Dec 2019 01:56 AM PST So here's the situation: Christmas break is finally here and for the next two weeks I won't be working (sort-of...). I would like that my colleagues can call me, but customers go directly to voicemail. Of course I can add every customer to the block list, but that's kind of a hassle... I tried the 'do not disturb' setting, but that doesn't make the call go straight to voicemail. I would like to prevent customers from calling over and over again. Any thoughts? [link] [comments] |
| Google Chrome not loading any page on OnePlus 7. Posted: 21 Dec 2019 03:36 AM PST Title sums it up. I've tried restarting the phone, disabling and reenabling, booting up in safe mode, uninstalling all updates, clearing cache, logging out. Nothing. Anyone know a fix? I really don't want to do a factory reset. Seriously, it's so annoying. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 21 Dec 2019 07:02 AM PST I never wondered when I should replace my old phone .. so what are the signs which you must consider as dangerous or critical to replace your current phone? [link] [comments] |
| Can I back up texts if I cant get into my phone? Posted: 20 Dec 2019 10:16 PM PST Had to upgrade my Pixel 2 xl today because the touch screen stopped working on me. I picked up the 4xl and overall Im happy with it. But I was unable to do the typical transfer over of data since I couldnt unlock my phone after a restart without putting in my pattern. I have a lot of texts with my gf that Id rather not lose, as well as family and friends. Is there anyway to still save them? So apparently I have a backup from Google Drive, but Im not sure how to open it and restore it. Do I need to do it from a fresh phone? [link] [comments] |

| Any good bluetooth earphone under $100 with fast charging & usb type-C? Posted: 21 Dec 2019 04:13 AM PST Hi guys, I'm looking for a good pair of Bluetooth earphones which can last me at least 2 years. I'd prefer a necklace styled rather than truly wireless ones. Two things I really wanted were:
The only one's that I found out were OnePlus bullets but I've used the same and the sound quality is pretty average, to say the least. Any other suggestions? [link] [comments] |
