I personally need polish characters only. Restricting the number of available accents would allow me to access polish characters much more quickly.

I was hoping for some Gboard preference in settings but I found none.

Moving my girlfriend from iPhone 8+ to Pixel 4. A couple of questions:

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 11:18 AM PST

Moving my girlfriend from iPhone 8+ to Pixel 4. A couple of questions...

    1. What apps should I predownload to help her make it a 'simple' experience? She isn't too techy like I am, more into things for the clout and popularity and not really for the specifics.

    2. What earbuds would best? I am considering getting her airpods (because of the previously mentioned "clout" that she's into), but will MaterialPods (or other apps) be a good look for her, or are they complicated after the initial set up?

    3. I wanted to get a smartwatch (isn't likely for christmas, but soon enough). Is WearOS good for new users, especially non tech people?

I hope I can get advice, but thank you beforehand. I know this is a long question but I really need help here.

Google pixel in boot loop, best way to transfer data?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 08:51 PM PST

So my google pixel 1 is stuck in a boot loop, just endlessly crashing and trying to boot up. Every so often it will boot up successfully and can actually use the phone for a few minutes. Got a galaxy s8+ coming and I want to know what would be the best way to go about somehow transferring the data to the galaxy from the pixel?

How to record 60fps video in Samsung A30s?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 04:41 AM PST

So I love this camera and it clearly supports 60 fps (because it has the ultra slow motion). My question is how can I record regular video in 60fps, the only options I find is resolution (full hd, 4k, etc...), no frame rate options. Any help?

    Battery saver mode whilst charging

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 11:52 AM PST

Any ideas for how to keep battery saver mode enabled whilst charging? I'm working as a cycle courrier and use a battery pack, however as soon as the phone is plugged in battery saver mode is disabled. If I could keep it enabled whilst the battery pack is plugged in then I'd increase the overall duration.

    Android (or Chrome?) certificate error

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 05:30 AM PST

Thought I would post this here since I am out of ideas, maybe there is something I am missing.

I am standing up a guest network where users will log in and then they get a redirect and have to click 'accept' on an acceptable use policy. iPhone users get the redirect and the page loads just fine. But certain android phones get a blank page. If I click 'use network as is' and then visit an http page in Chrome to get a redirect, Chrome will display a certificate error.

Clicking the error doesn't give me much information, it has a red check saying its untrusted and then a green check saying its signed using modern algorithms.

The redirect page is coming from a Cisco ISE device, which is using a certificate signed by Entrust. I checked the phones, they have the appropriate Entrust root certificate (installed by default as far as I can tell).

I tried a few things online, like checking my time and rebooting. It only seems to affect Android devices but not all Android devices. My OnePlus 6 is affected, but a coworkers Samsung 10 is not. The Pixel 3XL is also affected.

How do I block a number? There is no option under the three-dots-menu.

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 11:11 AM PST

I keep getting spam texts from some company I never signed up for. After googling around I figured out how to mark the number as spam so it goes direct to junk and doesn't flag a notification, but I'm still getting charged per text when it comes in. I keep seeing directions to tap into settings and select "block number" but that isn't anywhere I can find.

Is there a way to fully and completely block a number?

I'm assuming if I "text STOP to unsubscribe" then I'll just get added to more lists because they'll know its a real number.

    I'm using a Revvl 2, Android 8.1.0

    Thanks for any help!

How to load Google Play on Chinese Samsung Phone

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 07:13 AM PST

I'm in China and I want to buy the Note10+ but the Google Play store isn't on it. I do have purchases on the store from when I had the Note8 and want to put those apps on my phone, along with my VPN. How do I get my VPN (ExpressVPN) and Google Play store on this phone? The VPN on my computer works fine (obviously since I'm on reddit) and so I could download APKs if needed.

What is the point of screen filters?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 06:59 AM PST

Hello. What is the point of screen filters app that dimm the brightness? Using my phone with amoled, maxing up the brightness and dimming it through the app will reduce the flickering? When I have set high brightness and apply the filters, does it consume the same amount of battery as if the filter wasn't there?. And why should I use it in the first place, where I can just lower the brightness in my phone settings?

    Gradle Version: 5.4.1

    Compile Sdk Version: 28

    Build Tools Version: 28.03

Clean Build. Debug on real device with android 9 (lineageos).

Any fixes? Or is there a better wayt to debug builtins?

Ulefone - EU vs. non-EU version

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 09:37 AM PST

I'd like to buy an Armor 3WT to replace my current phone that doesn't really work as a phone anymore (the speaker is useless and SMS often aren't received). GearBest says the EU version won't be in stock until next week, but the non-EU version is ready to ship. My question is, what are the differences between the two? Will there be any problems if I buy the non-EU version and try to use it in Europe, or is it just a matter of e.g. more pre-installed apps that can be uninstalled anyway?

Gray cloud with check mark in gallery! Please help!

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 09:02 AM PST

I've had my s10 plus since August and overall it's a really good phone. However when I tried to get the One UI 2.0 beta I lost all of my photos. Luckly most of my photos came from my iPhone so I was able to sync them to this phone but for some reason a lot them are showing up with a gray cloud that has a check mark on them. Do any of you know what could be going on? Also when I click on the picture it's stretched out.

Data usage through the roof on G7 Plus when using Chrome

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:05 PM PST

I have an unrooted Moto G7 Plus and pay as you go sim from AT&T on the weaker side as far as data is concerned (1GB). I want to set up my phone to only use MMS, and have changed my APN type to default, mms in my APN settings. I have turned off my chrome background data turned on data saver, and turned on unrestricted data for only carrier services and messages.

Yet, somehow... chrome eats data when I play 4k videos on it even when I am at home using wifi. I am forced to turn mobile data off before I use chrome and I don't want to have to do that because I still want to receive MMS. I would like to note that the settings above were sufficient on my Nexus 5, 5X and 6P to use MMS only. Any ideas for solution/workaround? Or should I contact Motorola?

    Unset touch & hold delay?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 08:30 AM PST

Hey, I'm running Android 10 on stock Oneplus 7T. When trying to minimize the hold delay, I set the option to short. It wasn't set before, just empty. Now I notice a way longer delay in some apps, for example in Sync for Reddit, pressing and holding on a thumbnail.

Is there any way to unset the value? It's in accessibility settings:

I'm honest. I ve set a Diashow via an App on my phone background which I don't want to be on my background if someone is with me. Can I somehow disable the app via fingerprint that when I unlock the phone via another finger, the app is disabled and therefore no wallpaper.

Or any other ways. The home screen not lockscreen

Play store not notifying when apps are auto updated

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 07:45 AM PST

Even though I have the setting in the play store to notify when apps are auto updated I'm not actually getting that notification. That's used to work & stay in the notification tray until you dismissed it but now nothing.

I've checked the notification log & there are the notifications about the app being downloaded & that it is actively updating, but i never get the notification saying it was actually updated/auto updated.

Is this a glitch? Or did Google get rid of this?

Messages for Web not showing QR Code

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 07:35 AM PST

So I occasionally have this issue where Messages for Web will not show a QR code, the page loads but it's just a blank square where the code should be (screenshot). This always seems to just go away on its own after an hour or so (ie. I don't have to clear cache on my browser or anything it just starts working) so I don't really know what's wrong or how to consistently fix it. Any advice or things to try would be appreciated.

Unable to unlock the boot loader on my Samsung Galaxy A40

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 07:34 AM PST

I want to root my android so that I can remove some Bloatware and some other things. I need to unlock my boot loader to install either un-offical TWRP, or do it other ways. Either way, I need to unlock the boot loader. So, I enable developer options and enable "Unlock OEM Bootloader" (and usb debugging but not for this). Normally, I saw that people would either A. Install something called CROM, open it and then drag a slider to unlock the boot loader. Sadly, the app never opened for me. It just crashes. B. They go into download mode and there is a bit of text saying to hold power up to unlock the boot loader. This text is not for me, and also another thing is that when people enter download mode by holding power and volume up, when I do that I get a menu where I then need to choose "Reboot to boot loader".

Anyone here that knows how to fix this?

    Notifications drop-down hiding options

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 07:31 AM PST

I have a pixel 3, Android 10. Some time within the past week something has borked my notifications drop-down. Regardless of size, the panel is always just small enough to cut off any action options (delete, reply, mark as read, etc). Anything I can do or is this some known bug?

    Example: https://imgur.com/a/IJszDzc

    Thanks!

Galaxy S7 says I'm dangerously low on space, but won't show me what is taking up so much space.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 01:39 PM PST

My phone constantly tells me I'm dangerously low on space, but when I open up the storage management to try to rectify the situation, the numbers just don't add up. There's gotta be files that are taking up massive amounts of space that I can't see.

It shows user data (apps, etc) as taking up about 9 GB. Then it shows a total of "system/user data" taking 31.7 GB out of the 32 total GB on the phone. It's just not possible that the OS is taking up over 22GB of space. If I restart the phone or delete a couple apps and stuff, it fixes the situation temporarily, but within 24-48 hours, that space is somehow magically taken up again without me having reinstalled any apps or created more files on the phone.

I'm losing hope, Google has suspended my payment profile and I am worried about +$240 total I spent

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 07:54 PM PST

    Hello everyone,

Sorry if this isn't the place to share this, but I have no idea where to go with my problem. As the title says Google has suspended my payment profile (for at least one of my accounts), effectively crippling google play for me and potentially wasting +$100 I spent so far in the play store and $140 in store credit. I have tried every official Google support avenue and at best it has been unhelpful. Therefore, right now I am just desperately trying to get help from wherever I can. For more details I will list everything that has happened to me so far chronologically (please read at least the last part, it is about the account I care most about):

November 16: I lend my phone with a game (KOF) to a kid who makes one in-app purchase (1:16PM EST) on my main/official google account. I noticed this around 2:10 PM, so I requested a refund and directly wrote the reason for the refund (a mistake purchase etc.) and I wrote that I turned on authentication before any purchase to prevent this from happening again. Very quickly I get an email approving my refund request (on 2:29 PM), I feel pretty happy with google's customer service...

November 23: I attempt to buy things from Google Play store using my main account and I get this "Error: Your transaction cannot be completed". I contact Canadian Google Store support twice by phone and twice by email:

    • 12:01 AM by phone: I ask about the problem, and am told by " J " (I don't know if I can show names, so just a letter) that my payment profile has been suspended and I need to verify my payment info by submitting a picture of credit card and government ID in my Google Account Payment page (I also have an email of this interaction). I submit the required pictures, but later I get the following email from "[noreply@payments.google.com](mailto:noreply@payments.google.com)":

We have concluded the review of the information you've submitted to reinstate your ability to make purchases. To prevent possible fraud and abuse, your ability to make purchases Google products and services will remain suspended. It is our policy to not discuss the specific reasons for these suspensions.Note that in the Google Payments Terms of Service, we reserve the right to change, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of our services at any time, including availability of a service or any feature, without notice and without liability. We also reserve the right to impose limits on certain Service features or restrict access to some or all of the Services without notice and without liability.

    • 7:53 AM by phone: I call Google Store support again, this time " K " answers who tells me that nothing can be done, no reason can be given, and that he himself actually had an account suspended before and couldn't reactivate it (???). Furthermore, K told me that my only solution is to create or use another account and if I still want further help/support I can reply to an email he will send after the call (I did, K never replied) and also reply to the email from "[noreply@payments.google.com](mailto:noreply@payments.google.com)" and K assured me that even though it is "noreply" the supervisor who sent the above quoted email will respond (my email never got delivered, I got an error email "The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect").

November 30: I attempt to verify my main account again by submitting the required photos in my Google Account Payment page; a few hours later I get the same EXACT email as the one quoted above. I gave up on this account, I am very pissed, but thankfully I did not have a lot to lose from a suspended payment profile on my main/official account.

Please read at least this part:

December 2: I attempt to make a google play purchase using my secondary/personal google account and I get the same error which I got before my main/official account got suspended (Error: Your transaction cannot be completed). Now I am panicking, because unlike my main/official this personal account is the one that has most of my purchases (+$100) and $140 in google store credits. I have not yet contacted official google support with regards to this account, because last time I did for my main account it got suspended and I do not see that verification required notification on my personal account.

I am sorry for the long wall of text, but I would really appreciate any help or advice...
