OnePlus 5T was the best purchase I've ever made Posted: 27 Apr 2022 01:01 PM PDT I bought an OnePlus 5T back in 2019, a few years after it released. I loved the phone from the first moment I got it, it had amazing performance, decent camera, great display, and awesome software from OnePlus, which was in my eyes just an upgraded version of stock Android. A few years later, the phone started showing its age - battery life got terrible, the screen protector was scratched, the included case got damaged and became ugly. And of course, there is no softwate support from OnePlus anymore. I set to solve these issues, so I bought a new battery from eBay for less than 20€, and replaced it with help from my friend. Also bought a new screen protector and case, and replaced those. The phone is currently running Pixel Experience with Android 12, and three years later, it is honestly just as good as the day I got it. The system is completely responsive and smooth, the display is still amazing, and the battery now comfortably gets me through two days. In my eyes, this phone has pretty much everything I need. Good display, great performance, good battery life, and it's running the latest Android with April security updates. I feel like I'm missing very little in comparison with newer phones, the camera is not very good for today's standards of course, but it's fine for me, and I also feel like a 120Hz display would be nice, but other than that? I wouldn't trade this phone for anything. It's very disappointing to me that OnePlus changed their trajectory as a company and we aren't going to see more phones like this one from them in the future. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. Here's to many more years with this amazing device. [link] [comments] | ||
