Best 4K support TV (direct play 4k plex)

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 06:23 AM PST

Bought me a Samsung TV but found out it doens't direct play most of the Plex 4K content I get. I plan on returning this TV and want to get one that 'plays it (almost) all'. It is very hard to find info on the subject though, but I think I'll need to go Android on this one. Android also has an app in the store which I'd really like to have, so there's that as well.

Can you advice me on which TV I should get? I live in Europe so may not be able to get my hands on models that are sold in the US. Is this even something I should be chasing? Or would I be better off getting a Shield for *sigh* another 200 eypo.

Got this Hisense U78G(runs Android TV btw) a couple of days back and I was wondering if this sort of backlight bleed is common or should I replace this panel? If this the wrong sub for this please let me know. Thanks!

Best Android TV to Stream and cast 4k content from external HDD?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 02:21 AM PST

Hey! Im looking for a new Android TV for my room setup. I want It to be able to cast 4k content from an HDD, and yeah, i would love to get a shield TV, but theyr really expensive and i dont think It suits my needs, as for gaming I already have a pc in my room.

So whats my best option? Can the Chromecast+dongle+hdd cast directly to VLC for example? Should i get a TV box wich already has USB 3.0 instead?

How to disable ChromeCast from my Hisense Android TV?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 05:42 AM PST

I'm unable to find an option to disable it. I found " LET OTHERS CONTROL YOUR CAST MEDIA " option and set it to "never". But every device in the same network gets a notification of whatever I'm casting on youtube, or even when I'm using my ps4 for some reason.

Cannot connect to twitch.tv at all on Android TV

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 05:40 PM PST

I've tried multiple 3rd party clients (SmartTVTwitch, SoundTV), the official play store client (77B8C8A0 error) and the web browser but I cannot connect to twitch.tv. In my browser, it says ERR:CONNECTION_REFUSED. I tried changing the TV DNS to Cloudfare (1.1.1.1) and Google (8.8.8.8) but the error becomes ERR:NAME_NOT_RESOLVED. Has anyone run into this error?

Pink/Green screen on an old Sony Bravia.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 08:07 AM PST

Hello guys, I'm new to this reddit. I have an issue regarding the android tv box (model: SDOTT0202) and Sony Bravia KDL-40NX500. The tv works just fine for the first 10-15 minutes then randomly switches to pink/green picture and randomly comes back to normal if ever. I changed the HDMI cable, but the problem still exists. Unfortunately Sony removed their firmware support for older TV's since 7th of January this year. Bad luck for me I guess. I connect my PC to my TV very often and I don't have any issues with it at all. Any ideas why this keep happening?

CCw/GTV VS Tvision Hub - help me make sense of this (free space)

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 08:20 AM PST

CC has an external usb drive, Tvision hub does not.

This comparison is for the INTERNAL space only.

CC = 9 apps installed on internal - 3.3gb used

Tvision = 15 apps installed on internal - 2.8gb used

    ---

CC Free space = 199mcb (this varies of course, I've seen it down to 0, then I free up space)

    Tvision Free space = 1.9gb

    ---

Why the difference in free space? almost a gig difference, is it really programming? Tmobile developers are more efficient than Google's? Yes, bloatware, other stuff that needs to be installed because they are Google.

I have almost 2gb left on my Tvision to install apps. The CC(like you all know that own CCs) ran out of space so I had to get a hub and use a usb drive.

Any insight? This tells me that the CC doesn't need to be this bloated in order to run.

So the scalpers caught on to the $20 Onn boxes and are now buying them up and selling at double the retail price. Sold out at every local Walmart near me. Good luck hunting!

    Volume control in apartment building

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 02:38 PM PST

I have a Hisense 40in tv with android tv on it and for some reason the volume is constantly spiking to max along with random power ons or home presses when I have not interacted with the remote. I assume this is the result of shared apartment wifi, and someone accidentally connecting to my device. I've already named the tv "not your fucking tv :)" but am looking for a more concrete solution to prevent random control without just disconnecting from the internet. Thank you!

Prime video - disable up next

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 04:41 PM PST

Edit: FIXED, go to Amazon.com and select video then settings, player, and there should be two autoplay settings there. Then make sure to restart the prime video app. For some reason for the amazon.CA domain it's not avaible, instead you have to use primevideo.com.

Does anyone know how to stop the app from automatically playing whatever is "up next." For reference I'm using a Chromecast with Google TV. I cannot find an option and Google comes up surprisingly empty. I can do it with the app on my phone but on the CwGTV the option is not there.

Every night my Dad falls asleep watching tv and if it's on prime then it eats up our bandwidth and I have to figure out what show he was at because boomer.

What's a good remote with voice commands that can control my TV?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 02:55 PM PST

I bought a Realme TV stick to replace a Fire TV stick that fried itself. Btw I think FireOS sucks, so I was more like 'good riddance'.

However what I do miss is the controller. I liked having a sine remote control both devices, but the real me controller is dumb. It has an internal volume control but it just never keeps sound at a good level, so I need my tv remote around.

The Fire TV stick remote doesn't pair elsewhere, so I'm open to suggestions.

    Thanks.

Edit: forgot to say I returned the fire stick and got a refund,so I no longer own the remote. I was thinking of buying one if that's the only thing that will work, but sure o want something cheaper (remote costs $33 here, FS+remote are $40. Either way a waste of money if you ask me)

Ethernet directly to Android TV or Chromecast Ultra

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 05:07 PM PST

I just bought an ultra short throw projector running AndroidTV and used to have a Chromecast Ultra that I was using with ethernet. Do you think it's more efficient to just plug the ethernet directly into the projector with AndroidTV or keep using the chromecast ultra? I don't know if the chromecast ultra might have higher throughput or something.

Unable to view local TV station apps - any suggestions?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 10:46 PM PST

I recently bought a TCL TV running Android. I'm in Melbourne and have the TV directly plugged in with Ethernet, but it tells me ABC iView and other Australian TV apps can't be installed because I'm in the wrong country.

Stan works fine, and Netflix shows I'm in Australia, I don't have a VPN on.

I've tried a factory reset, checked to ensure I picked Australia in the setup, everything seems to be fine except these local apps. Weirdly it lets me download the New Zealand TV apps.

Any suggestions? Google searches have suggested it's the IP, I will look up how to set a static IP but wanted to see if there were any ideas before I did.

    Media player through WebDAV

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 08:31 PM PST

Looking for a media player that post files through WebDAV protocol and fetches movies and tv shoes metadata for it. I'm an ex-Apple tv user and using infuse to play movies stored on debrid service through WebDAV protocol. Is there any alternatives for that on Android tv ? Fire stick specifically. Did some googling and kodi kept coming up but I've tried it and I'm not big fan of the UI seems too complicated comparing to infuse.

    Thank you
