Why are all reviews obsessed with camera quality? Posted: 19 Nov 2021 04:52 PM PST My phone broke earlier beyond repair. I've spent the last 3-4 hours looking at reviews of Samsung 21 Ultra, OnePlus, Oppo, Xiomi etc. Almost all reviews spent a huge amount comparing picture quality. Looking at colour balance, zoom, video settings, and all of this. It's honestly a big surprise that this is such a key issue. All the pictures I take on my phone are usually just random ones where the quality really isn't that important. Even those if I am out somewhere or visiting the quality is fine. Could be better I suppose but I've never actively felt I wanted more from the camera. It's almost as if I want to say, get an actual DSLR or mirrorless camera if the quality is that big a deal. Is camera quality that important to you? I was just wondering as it is really not on my wishlist at all really [link] [comments] | ||
What happened to Samsung's "Bigger Pixels = Better Pictures" from the Galaxy S7 Launch event? Posted: 19 Nov 2021 11:38 AM PST This is from the launch event of the Galaxy S7 Samsung went from using a 16 MP sensor in the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S6 to a 12 MP sensor in the Galaxy S7. Then when they were presenting it to the audience, they also explained how the bigger a pixel is, the more light it can absorb and produce better pictures. The Galaxy S7 was the best camera phone when launched and in many ways, was simply amazing. Its Autofocus was better and faster than most, if not all phones and its low light photography was phenomenal for the time. Some images I took from a Super Saf comparison video:
And 5 years later; Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Realme etc have all jumped on the megapixel train. It sucks and I always wonder what these makers could have achieved with those massive camera bumps if they actually made bigger sensors instead of just pumping up the number of pixels. I am very uninformed in camera tech and would wholeheartedly welcome any corrections or teachings. [link] [comments] |
