| Posted: 11 Aug 2021 03:11 AM PDT I have an old android phone (model is Huawei P9 lite) and I forgot the unlock passcode for it. With a bit of using google I found out I can factory reset it without actually needing to open it. I tried to do that but it gets stuck in an software update basically says "software install failed". | Locked images during phone transfer Posted: 11 Aug 2021 12:50 PM PDT I'm planning on upgrading from my LG G8x to the Samsung S21 Ultra in a day or two and I have tons of images locked in my gallery. Assuming I have some locked images on my SD card and my internal memory, would I be able to unlock them on the new phone? Im upgrading with AT&T if that helps. | New android update broke the volume meter. Posted: 11 Aug 2021 12:18 PM PDT Last month, I was forced to update my Android Pie after delaying it several times. Since the update, the volume meter has forced itself to maximum volume, and no matter how many times I try to lower the volume or mute it, it immediately goes back up to max. | Aux and Microphone aren't working Posted: 11 Aug 2021 12:10 PM PDT By some weird glitch, after I tried playing music through an aux to a speaker with the speaker side jacks in the wrong holes, the speaker starting making weird noises. Then I discovered my mistake and corrected where the inputs were plugged into the speaker. It's also worth noting that this was after working in the rain, so the phone might've been a bit wet. But now unfortunately my phone will continue to play sounds from the phone speaker even when I plug the aux into the phone. Like it just isn't detecting the aux chord. Stranger yet my microphone isn't working now either. I can't make calls or use anything that requires sound input. This is frustrating because I use my phone to tune my guitar. Any ideas on what the hell is going on and how to fix it? I've tried restarting the device to no avail and I'm starting to worry. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 11 Aug 2021 11:41 AM PDT The screen is completely black until I hold the power button for a few seconds and the Google logo comes up. When it finally gets to the lock screen, the screen fades to black and is unusable again. | How to extract APK from OTA DAT file? Posted: 11 Aug 2021 07:54 AM PDT I have some android tablet update files and I know they contain a particular app I want to sideload on other devices. The OTA has a zip file extension so I unzipped it and I can see some large DAT file extension files which I think contain the APK I want. There is a file contents file (no extension) that contains some references to a couple APK files, which might be what I want but I don't recognize the name. How do I extract these DAT files to pull out the APK I want? I searched around a bit and found some references to jdeserialize but I think those tools are a little beyond me without a bit of an example or walkthrough. Any advice here? [link] [comments] |

Or would it completely mess it up because it's not built to handle the power of the bigger battery? I've had this same problem going on for weeks now, and it's getting worse, to the point where it happens every 5 minutes. I basically no longer have wifi or Bluetooth capability on my phone. Every time I reset app preferences and Bluetooth+wifi, things work for about 5 minutes, then the Bluetooth shuts off and the wifi does too. Please help. [link] [comments] |
| Unlocking OG Pixel Verizon not working after carrier release Posted: 11 Aug 2021 10:47 AM PDT I ordered a pixel on ebay and unbeknownst to me it was locked by Verizon. Fortunately, I have a wireless account with them and got authorization through their tech support to have the IMEI unlocked. I put my Verizon SIM into the device and they (said they) unlocked it, along with sending me a text about it being unlocked once I put in another carrier's SIM. So far, so good! Unfortunately, however, I don't have another SIM to use on it. On top of that, I noticed in recovery mode that the phone is running Sailfish sideloaded, which may further complicate things? I tried a full wipe from recovery mode, but OEM unlocking is still greyed-out and disabled. What should I do at this point? I know the easiest thing would be to return the phone and get a global version... but I'd have to go through unlocking and rooting it anyway. My goal is to have this Pixel unlocked so I can root it. I tried to connect it to my pc and use scrcpy to control it, but it doesn't detect it. adb doesn't detect it. I used to be able to use the htc one m9 by waking it by double tapping it, but right now the battery is dead. I charged it, but I can't turn it on. adb doesn't detect it Is there anything I can do? Posted: 10 Aug 2021 11:23 PM PDT I have looked at countless guides and videos, and the biggest problem is that all of them only tell you how to do so the first time you turn on a new phone, AKA during initial configuration. For example, like in this article or this video. But what if one doesn't have internet when they first turned on their phone and chose to skip this step? How does one restore all their apps/settings/SMS etc.? If I go into Settings, Google account, and Sync, it only provides syncing with certain items such as Contacts/Drive/Gmail, which is nowhere near the full package of restore you get initially. I'm starting to think there really isn't a solution other than factory resetting the phone, but I'd love to be proved wrong. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Solution: Download the QuickShortcutMaker app, do a quick search on the basics of using it (you basically add a widget then search for the function you want, and the widget becomes a shortcut to that function). Then in the Activities tab, search for the word "setup". Then in the results there should be an "Android Setup", which can be expanded to give several options. For me, using a Samsung phone, the correct one is the one labelled thus: com.google.android.apps.restore/com.google.android.apps.pixelmigrate.cloudrestore.component.CloudRestoreFlowActivity [link] [comments] |
