    Is Mi Box S still worth it? Or should I get the CCwGTV?

    Currently in my bedroom TV I have a 2nd gen Chromecast. The TV is only 1080p, no HDR, only using the built-in speakers, it's LG so the CEC has never worked. I wanted to buy something with a remote, but I don't like the Roku UI that much, and the Apple TV is too expensive for my usage.

    All the apps I use are available for Android TV. The only 'special' use I would make is buying a TV Tuner (MyGica PT275) just so I could watch everything under the same UI (my cable provider sends unencrypted ISDB-T television). With the CCwGTV I'd need a dongle, with the Mi Box only a USB adapter.

    Use Android TV at a hospital with web page authentication

    I'm going to bring my android tv into a hospital. The hospital has open wifi, but you need to agree to terms that pop up in a browser. Will this form of auth work with Android TV? Thanks!

    My Sony Bravia Android TV's motherboard got fried by a lightning strike. I gave it to a service shop who replaced it. It now runs Android 8.0. I want to update it but the technician said I shouldn't, as it may damage the motherboard again? Can this really happen? Is it fine if I update it?

    So I have a Philips 50pfl5604. I have a 32 GB thumbdrive connected cuz built in storage limit sucks. Apps on the thumbdrive take a long time to load. Is that because of the thumbdrive size, or just because it is a thumbdrive? I don't see needing the storage space of an external hard drive but would it load better than the thumbdrive? Sorry for not being more savvy with this. 🤗

    Get rid of ads in new launcher - no adb/new launcher/disabling Play Services required

    Install Blockada v.4, which is still being updated/supported (sideload - get it from their web site: https://go.blokada.org/apk4 ).

    Create a new filter for androidtvwatsonfe-pa.googleapis.com , and turn it on and turn on Blocada blocking.

    Clear cache/data for Android TV Home.

    The ad banner area now cycles between Youtube/Google Play generic ads with no content at all - only the app names.

    Quick, easy, and permanent. Still have access to Google Play updates, and this will survive Shield UI updates - until/unless Google changes their URL for ads. And still get the suggestions for the apps that you have.

    Google tv + Express VPN + BBC I Player

    I have been trying to get BBC I player running on my Googletv chromecast via Express VPN (connected to UK) with no luck. I keep getting a message saying "not available in your region" . I have tried clearing cache and storage from Playstore app but didnt work.

    Any other tips or suggestions would be appreciated

    Installing Launcher Manager / Wolf Launcher

    I'm trying to set up Launcher Manager but not seeing the Enable ADB Debugging option when i try to open up the app. I get the following error message: "Try enabling ADB Debugging in Settings" but when i go to developer settings there is no such option. I'm on a Hisense Android TV . Has anyone else had a similar problem?

    Recently the "For You" page stopped displaying live tv (YouTube TV) recommendations. Also on the "Live" tab the thumbnail channels are just in order instead of recommendations as well.

    Is anyone else having this issue? I feel like I must have turned a setting off by accident.

    Samsung Universal Remote vs Xiaomi Mibox S

    Hey everyone, there is an option on Samsung TVs allowing to control multiple devices with Samsung smart remote. It is called universal remote, and on OTT devices list I found Xiaomi brand as well but it doesn't work, I tried manually selecting the model number, in my case MDZ22AB, but still didn't work.

    TV brand: Samsung Q80T (50inch) OTT brand: Xiaomi Mi box S (MDZ22AB)

    The same thing happened when I connected my PS4 to it. Before setting up a universal remote it seemed to control the interface of PS, but when it recognized PS4 and applied the settings for it, the remote stopped controlling it.

    Did anybody face the same issue? It's pretty annoying that there is an option to stay with one remote and it won't work as it should. I wonder if I do something wrong.

    Hi everyone,

    I want to buy a Mecool KM6 and install Kodi in it. I saw it had 4gb RAM and 64gb ROM with the Amlogic S905x4. In reviews they say it is a beast and I think it could be a great option. I am not interested in streaming platforms and I would not want to buy a device that is more powerful than what I will need. I only want to install addons, search on the internet and not more than that. Do you guys recommend me this device ? Is it good ? Or do you reocmend me another alternative that better suits my needs ? I would really appreciate your help.

    I need it to be offline, so without it works wifi

    Recommendation needed: Best launcher that allows Anydesk control

    Relatively new here. Have 2 new Shields and getting a crash course with the device regarding homegrown app installs and the home screen changes. I've also been looking at the various ways people can remote control their devices. Without getting into too much detail, the data and network security risks being taken by people have been a real eye opener, but I digress.

    What I'm looking for is a premium home screen that will facilitate control of my device from my personal iPhone while off-network (web). The ads are annoying as well, but getting rid of them is a secondary desire for me. Seems like Anydesk will allow control but requires a different launcher. Looking for a recommendation from the Googleplay store and don't mind having to pay for it...would rather it work well, have a nice UI and be safe.

    Also, please let me know if you have any concerns with Anydesk that I may have missed. It's just going to be used temporarily, not for extended viewing. If there's a better alternative in the Apple App Store that I can also install on the Shield via the Google Play Store, I'm all ears. Thx.

    Is it really impossible to use the TV speakers and bluetooth headphones at the same time with a Hisense H8? If so would a sound bar allow this?

    My hard of hearing 81 year old step father got a Hisense H8 with Android TV. On his old TV he used headphones while my mother listened through the speakers. His headphones (Sennheiser HDR 110) only play static when connected. I tried every possible thing to get them to work. So I bought him some bluetooth headphones thinking they would work. But when they are connected the option for TV speakers is greyed out. Is there anyway to fix this? If not if he got a bluetooth sound bar would it play sound through both the sound bar and headphones at the same time?
