| Posted: 08 Jun 2021 06:52 AM PDT I recently upgraded to a Nokia 8.3 and installed all the necessary updates as you do when you get a new phone. However, Google Security Patch 2021-03 will download and ask me to restart. I restart the phone and it then asks to download and reinstall the same update. I don't know if it's either not installing or my phone is bugging out. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |

The problem is that the screen is still active when it dims, I can see icons or keypad but not clearly because of the dimming. In order to bring the screen to back to full brightness, so I can see it clearly, I need to touch the screen but since the screen is active wherever I touch it an app, keystroke, or number pad entry is activated disrupting whatever I am doing. Cannot always see a blank portion of the screen clearly enough to touch to wake it up without activating something. This seems to happen right before the screen is about to time out (set at 10 minutes) or on a call. I'd rather the screen just turn off so I can double tap to bring it back. Not holding the phone during a call, using buds and phone is sitting on desk, so the cause is not the proximity detector. It happens when I am not looking at the phone so it is not a Smart Stay feature issue. This is not Adaptive Brightness dimming, I've turned this off and it still occurs. Power Saving mode is off. | Can't connect to VPN-only websites on my device Posted: 08 Jun 2021 02:54 PM PDT I'm trying to get a cell phone I use for work connected to a VPN to connect to some servers I'm developing against. We're using an OpenVPN connection, and have some automated stuff to help us get the .ovpn files. From there all you gotta do is import the file and enter your user/pass. Well, I went through these steps on my personal cell phone and it connected without a hitch, I can reach the servers I'm trying to see. I'm running whatever is the latest version of Android these days. The device I'm using for development at work is an older specialized phone that runs Android 8.1. It cannot be updated. When I go to connect on this device the logs are filled with errors. I have no clue what ever is to be believed but I see all kinds of stuff saying the network was reset, or transport failure, or timeout. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I'm just trying to avoid needing to go into the office and have IT help me and see if any internet strangers might have some idea about VPN sorcery on androids. [link] [comments] |

| How do I silence all notifications except for phone calls? Posted: 08 Jun 2021 01:51 PM PDT I took my phone off of vibrate because I'm expecting an important phone call in the next few days, but having every notification and key stroke make an audible sound is proving to be extremely annoying. Posted: 08 Jun 2021 01:36 PM PDT The example can be found here - http://imgur.com/a/x64k7jU I love Pixel launcher for it's smoothness but it sucks in terms of customizations. The only reason I'm forced to use it because of that select to copy feature. I can not live without it as I need to copy texts all day. | Motorola Razr notification sound keeps going off Posted: 08 Jun 2021 12:54 PM PDT I have the moto razr(2020 model with 5g, stock firmware, and non-rooted) and it keeps playing my notification sound every 1-3 minutes. This is super annoying. I have notification reminders disabled so it shouldn't be that. I have installed various notification log apps, but nothing appears in them. Im waiting for an important phone call and so I need to have the notification sounds on(because for whatever reason the notification and ringer volumes are the same.... which is another issue). Posted: 08 Jun 2021 01:15 PM PDT Is this happening to anyone else? -You send a text, for example "hello how are you today?" to someone, say Mom -You leave the text app (or sometimes happens even if you stay in the text app but the phone rotates orientation) -You open the text app again and in the thread with Mom, the text you sent last "hello how are you today?" is typed out again in the field where you type out your message I'm not sure how long it's been happening. Possibly since my phone updated to 11 a couple months ago, or possibly just since the one update I've had post-11 a couple weeks ago, can't remember which. I have an At&t LG Velvet. | reset mount point of removable sdcard by reseting sdcard registers Posted: 08 Jun 2021 12:12 PM PDT I'm trying to upgrade to a newer sdcard but it gets mounted to a dir different than 0123-4567 so it breaks all apps as they can't find files. In linux one can easily overcome this with ln but my selinux-enforcing android 6 device bootloops by just mkdir /mnt/media_rw/0123-4567 and rebooting. I don't think Folder Mount app and Magisk modules such as fbind could help in this case, so I am wondering how to reset the database where android registers previously inserted sdcards. The idea is that if I erase all card registers, the first card to be inserted thereafter will be mounted to 0123-4567 as in a new device. Any information on which app stores this data or where it's stored would help much. Selinux does not let me do much, but apps like Titanium Backup can delete apps' data just fine. [link] [comments] |

So I've been using Google Photos to back up some the pics that I have on my phone to their cloud service. I don't have and dont want all the pics on phone to be uploaded. The problem is I can not for the life of me figure out how to only display the pics that are uploaded to my account. IE: Filter out all pics on the device/SD card that are not uploaded. All I know is that my phone is a huawei using android as OS. I would appreciate to be redirected to another place for help if there is a problem in this regard. So right now I am in UK and I called a friend in Russia (I used my russian phone number). When I called him, it showed him a russian number but it was a different one (neither of us know whose is that). This happened twice in a row and after he responded the second time he told me this number is unknown. After he blocked that number and I called again, it showed him my real number. Long story short, I need to be able to run adb commands on the phone from the back-office mdm console without needing the device to be plugged into any computer. Standard wireless ADB won't work either because it won't be on the same wifi network. In other words, I need to run ADB script remotely over LTE service. Devices are not rooted, however being LineageOS they do support running ADB as root user. I need to be able to push files to the device remotely, among other things. Is this possible? Thnx. I've got a backup of the returned phone, but I had to reset it and send it away. I have the backup in Google drive. I was wondering if on the old phone I have, if I can just update the text messages to be in sync with the backup I have. Also some folks reading this may think that this is childish, but if you read the reasons of why I have done this you may see my point of view. Over the last ten to fifteen years I have been bullied by certain neighbours. This got worse though a few years ago. To the point that I had to get the Police involved. This opened a can of worms. Neighbours started calling me a coward because I involved the Police. The instigator to this trouble was a "glorified manager" who to make herself look good decided to give some advice. This advice was unlawful! For ten years plus certain neighbours took this advice, again was unlawful and made my life hell. Right to the present moment. This glorified manager has a works phone. I opened up my emergency phone the other day and I read these texts I sent. I genuinely became hot and sweaty after reading these. To the point I have deleted them from my sent file. Right.... Personally I don't think... Could the Police, Mobile Provider, or anyone in authority track where these rexts were sent from? My emergency phone remains off 99.9% off at any time. Even when the phone is off, can these be tracked? Folks you may think this is childish. But this woman has effed up my Mental Health. Thank you [link] [comments] |
